Servers shutting down is a common thing in IT. Blizzard is still in business as well, but they shut down the servers for playing Diablo 1 online a long time ago.
Of course, Diablo 1 is an old game, but as I've said: If they ever think the servers for Steam cost too much they will shut them down. Now I don't think they will shut them down in the near future, but there's always the possibility that one day you can't play the games you bought just because there are no servers anymore.

I wanted to stay in college longer but I already changed my major once, which caused me to be in school longer than the average and I didn't want to bury myself in more debt than I had to, like you mentioned.

But yeah, I miss the learning aspect the most. You don't do much of that after you graduate; there is no one to teach you, to push you knowledge-wise anymore.

Just saying that I don't like the idea of Steam.
I don't want to be online all the time to play the games I want. And I don't want to load up another program to play a game (well, I have to in some cases like old DOS games which require DOSBox or some emulated games... but I don't like to do that as well ^^).
Plus I want to be able to play the games I purchased in 20 years+ as well. And I also like to go to flea markets or garage sales to "hunt" for the games I want.
Plus it is always nice to know you could simply resell a game if you don't like it.

Those are all things Steam doesn't offer me.

I wanted to stay in college longer but I already changed my major once, which caused me to be in school longer than the average and I didn't want to bury myself in more debt than I had to, like you mentioned.

No me neither. It would kinda suck if you just got out of school and see that you are 10,000+ euros in debt. Of course you could probably pay it back within a couple of years, but still... I'd rather spend that money on other things. Like I'll probably be busy finding a house and such.

No me neither. It would kinda suck if you just got out of school and see that you are 10,000+ euros in debt. Of course you could probably pay it back within a couple of years, but still... I'd rather spend that money on other things. Like I'll probably be busy finding a house and such.

Exactly. Any student loans you take out have to be paid back in ten years; that the law. So if you rack up lots of debt then you will have to pay back more per month.

Nah, and I heard that once you start working and stop studying, it's gonna get harder and harder to get back into studying and learn new things.

I would think it would be hard to go back to school once you start working because there is little time for it but I'll manage with night classes and such. Of course that down the road for me.

After securing 250 B/P this week I'm so close to 3000 saves and Corporal that I can practically taste it. 1000 blams feels like it's going to take forever though. Which I suppose is a good thing; means more people are submitting quality flashes than garbage lately. There was a point in I think February when at least half the flash submitted each day was utter trash.
