Yet another plug.

I made a thread in the art forum last night about shoes. Feel free to check it out.

I also submitted a drawing of a shoe to the art portal. See here or at the bottom of my post.

I'm looking for the older children such as 5 or 6th grade. That's when they get a bit more cocky, but it's also when they get a bit more easier to handle. I also get to teach the subject more instead of more of a babysitting job. My major allows me to teach from 3-8, but I rather stick to the Elementary levels.

On top of that I want to teach at a Catholic school if at all possible. The behavior there is much better and usually the kids are at a very advanced level of learning.

Yeah I have noticed that his videos have gotten longer and longer lately. I remember they usually didn't exceed 15 minutes, but nowadays he can easily ramble on for over half an hour. I don't mind if it's interesting or entertaining though, but the wrestling rants... they're just way too long and too boring imo.

I heard the wrestling rants were like over 40 minutes. I'm already aware of how bad wrestling is these days so why bother listening to someone talk about it for so long?

True enough but consider what you'd have if you had 99%+ deposit rate like myself and Coop.

You just sung Black Chamber out of the blue and now you want to sing Theatre of Pain? Do you have something against the first two songs of Somewhere Far Beyond?
It's just that "Theatre of Pain" follows directly after "Black Chamber". ;)

We should have sung the other two songs first. However, what about Mirror Mirror as Sir-Nuts keeps requesting?

I'm sure it will. Let me begin.

Give it a look, CS1.6 was a great game, I had quite some fun with it.

Will do if I can find any busy servers. If not, I'll have to move onto the next game.

They've expressed interest in a true sequel to Counter-Strike before.
Hmm, I thought CS:S would be their definite version of the game, and they would only update it, like TF2.

I thought CS:S was just a source port of Counter-Strike just like Half-Life: Source being nothing more than a source port from the original game.

You will hear him getting hurt!
Meh, playing Pyro is a better idea. :)

Of course, I was just trying to make the medic useful.

You should see people killing Pyros as a CP prop.
I was a control point once, and I managed to hide behind a stair set. And three Pyros bypassed me, Imagine my despair! :O

Heh, you should have seen me in Cyberpunk. I was high up, close to another prop and a Pyro saw the other prop but not me and I lived through the end at that one spot. Again, Cyberpunk is too big.

Counting medal points as part of the total stats would be insane. Not only would you easily have a 10k stat and be one step closer to the 10k lists but at a later point, someone could get 100,000 points with ease and some of us have worked on getting to that milestone without medal points for years. It's not a balanced stat at all. Number of medals on the other hand, would be fine.

I understand completely what you mean, but I assumed total stats would entail all of one's stats? And it is a stat.

I don't see how unbalanced it really is, considering it's just like any other stat and the playing field is even. Everyone has an equal opportunity to acquire medals, it also gives more purpose to acquiring them other than for sheer stat-whoring.

I was just curious, although I don't intend to post my accomplishments of total stats, because I don't much see the validity of that. Adding different stats together to create a nice even thousand just doesn't seem worth mentioning in my eyes.

Anyway, thanks for the explanation.

The argument would be is why pay for high tech voting machines when you need the money to patch potholes in the road. Not to mention you would have to find someone knowledge able to run said machine. Most of the people who run polling places are pretty old in age.

Ah, this is just pride. I mean, we never had huge problems with the machines, if they broke, they're replaced either by another one or by paper, but about 1% of them have problems. And no, they don't run on Windows. :)

Paranoia and easy of use, I guess. The ones in my state are just scan-trons where you just complete the line to vote. I guess they feel no need to reinvent the wheel.

A pretty cheap one at that. The other official stats are traditional and have been around for awhile while the medals only have been around for a short time, relatively speaking.

I don't see how unbalanced it really is, considering it's just like any other stat and the playing field is even. Everyone has an equal opportunity to acquire medals, it also gives more purpose to acquiring them other than for sheer stat-whoring.

From the medal thread it seems pretty easy to hack and steal medals or if you're a total loser can earn many cheap ones in a day or two (Newgrounds Pass 3, anyone?); you can't do that with Exp, Reviews, etc.

I was just curious, although I don't intend to post my accomplishments of total stats, because I don't much see the validity of that. Adding different stats together to create a nice even thousand just doesn't seem worth mentioning in my eyes.

It's a culmination of a person's total work on NG, per se. Reaching 10k Total Stats isn't really much but when you've earned over 60k, 70k 80k you know a user has been pretty active on NG.

Well, it's no stat in the left column of our profile pages, like Level, B/P, Experience, etc. . ;)

I don't see how unbalanced it really is, considering it's just like any other stat and the playing field is even. Everyone has an equal opportunity to acquire medals, it also gives more purpose to acquiring them other than for sheer stat-whoring.

First off, the medal system is still in a beta phase, so sadly it's not that everyone has an equal opportunity to get the medals. Sometimes medals will work and then they will break, making it impossible to gain them (see Shift 4 for example), or you only have one shot at a medal, if you blow it, you'll never be able to gain the medal (see the "litarate/iliterate" medals on Seed of Destruction for example).

And also it's unbalanced because: You gain exactly one point for every flash you save, one point for every flash you blam, one point for every post, one point for every review.
But you get between 5 and 100 points for every medal you earn...

Adding different stats together to create a nice even thousand just doesn't seem worth mentioning in my eyes.

I know what you mean. When I was still creating lists I only congratulated very special "total stats" achievements.

That's what I was expecting at first. If they're really crowded, rusty and lacking of cops, aren't there any major break-outs and riots occasionally?

Break-outs aren't more difficult to happen. Despite being crowded, they won't hesitate in shooting whoever tries to leave.

But yeah, once a year or so we see riots where the prisoners take over the place and start demanding things, such as the liberation of certain prisoners (like "bosses" of drug dealing). They either give up or the police represses them, and their penalty is extended.

And yeah, we are Latin Americans, but there are so many Greek and Latin therms in Portuguese that it gets hard to figure out what's the origin of a word. And that turns out really complicated when adding prefixes and suffixes and figuring out words you don't know.
Strange. If I remember my history books correctly, Portugal and Greece never had much to do with each other. So how come there are so many Greek therms in the Portuguese language then?

I don't really remember, I haven't studied the history of the Portuguese language. All I know is that it's a variant of a region in Spain. Maybe Spain was more connected with Portugal?

Still, the majority of terms are Latin, some are Greek.

It's a vast and complex language, which probably less than 300 million people speak in the world. I think we should have been colonized by either Spanish, Italian or German colonies. BUT WHY PORTUGUESE? >:(
I don't know. I only know they speak Portuguese in Brazil and Portugal, but there must be a few more African and South-American Portuguese countries right? So I think it might be a little more than 300 million (isn't Brazil already more than 300 million?).

Nah, not really. The two major countries would be Brazil and Portugal, with some countries in Africa, but none in South America. There are fewer than 300,000,000 lusophonics, I'm sure.

Brazil is nearing 200 million right now. And our neighbours speak mostly Spanish, with the exception of French (French Guiana), English (Guyana) and Dutch (Suriname). See, you can live in South America if you want to. :)

But yeah I think I would've preferred Spanish or something as well if I lived in Brazil. I don't know much about the complexity, but it's like... the second language in the world after English.

Plus, most of our neighbour countries speak Spanish, so it would be better if we ALL spoke Spanish as a native language.

But hey, you still beat the Dutch language, which is spoken by less than 50 million I think. Up here we're getting taught at least four different languages in middle-school, because otherwise we can't even order a sandwich when we're on a holiday =/

Well, if you know English, you can survive pretty much anywhere. :P

I'm still thinking whether or not I should learn a third language...

But does your governors get caught in a video tape receiving real money, then declaring it was meant to be for the poor people?
Hehe no :p If such a thing would happen, you would probably get a "motion of distrust" as we call it here. Means the minister has to explain himself and if he can't then he has to give up his job and leave politics forever. He'd probably get thrown in jail as well. I can assure you that if it gets caught on tape, he'd be arrested the same day the tape comes out.

Our governor was only arrested a month later, for trying to "buy" a testimony. He was "interfering the investigations" as they said... And now, he'll leave jail for a heart surgery, who knows who many people want the surgery to go wrong. :P

Oh, and my dad wrote a mini-article for the newspaper that got published regarding the governor's situation. In his words, "Federal intervention NOW!". I think it's his third article in the newspaper. :)

He's pretty much blaming all our countries problems on the muslims. He wants to stop the integration of muslims, stop the building of muslim churches and throw muslim criminals out of our country. For the rest he just says whatever's the popular opinion to win more votes for him.

Wow, he is that racist? And he's running for the elections? o_O

But hey, ten years ago our govern was basically a right wing party. It's stabilized the economy, creating our current currency (real [reh- all]), but many companies were sold, employment rates dropped... We're getting better only now, with Lula "the MAN", according to Obama. :P
Yeah I think Wilders is having similar ideas. He wants to drop taxes, stop a few major (controversial) projects and fire a LOT of people who are working for the government (like the higher up-people from the police). I believe it's all meant to fight the economic crisis, but I doubt it will work.

Well, I'm afraid of our next govern... The right wing candidate is ahead in the pre-voting polls, but the left wing is closing the gap... maybe it's because our current president (left party) brings his candidate EVERYWHERE to help her campaign. That's cheating. :P

Sure, although govern and opposition are more "balanced", so some things are approved while others are denied. It really matters whether there are more govern or opposition members at the voting moment. Yes, they come whenever they want to.
Whahahahaha, so sometimes they're not even there? :p Kinda makes me wonder why they became politicians in the first place. Sounds like they're only in it for the money and the power.

Sure, isn't that obvious? :P

Some of them only show up when they want to, make those "pre-made speeches" and travel somewhere else. SUUUUURE...

Yeah, after you're 18 and before 70 voting is obligatory. If you don't vote, you have to explain why you didn't vote or pay a tax for not voting (I'm not sure how much is it).
At least you won't get thrown in jail, like they do in some countries.

Really? Arrested for not voting?

But yeah, sometimes I think it shouldn't be obligatory. I mean, sometimes people who aren't interested vote for anyone they think that "looks good". So why not leaving it for those who are interested? =/
Yes indeed. You'll get a lot of votes from people who don't know jackshit about who they're voting for and what's going on in the country. That can't be right.

Also, some politicians try to buy votes from the more poor classes, and for really low prices. We usually see some getting caught, but who knows how many have "escaped" with that?

Heh, and James Cameron lost the Best Director award to his ex-wife. :P

Imagine what their son would be like?

Yeah, I noticed him adjusting them quite often. Maybe it was only those glasses, there might be better shaped ones around.
I think they usually only have one size for everybody in the cinema's. Perhaps your dad just needs bigger ones.

Maybe, but I think they only had one default size. Everything was in one big box, at least.

Hmm, I think there are only three 3D rooms in here. Once it gets more popular, they should open more.
Only three in all of Brazil? :o Or just in your region?

Hahaha, just in my region, there are more around Brazil. :)

Oh, and how's the movie, anyway? Worth watching?
I think it was pretty enjoyable and worth a visit to the cinema's. Don't expect it to be anything like the books though, a lot of elements in the cinema version do not fit the book that well actually. Like wars and fighting scenes.

Hmm, so Tim Burton twisted the story, eh? I'm willing to see it now, I'll check whenever it's in the movies...

Really? No discounts for 3d movies? That's unfair - it's still a movie, isn't it?
Yeah it doesn't make any sense to me.

Well, maybe they'll lower the prices when 3D cinema becomes more popular... right?

Oh, and the weekday also matters in here. Weekends and holidays are more expensive, while weekdays are about 5,00 cheaper. It's great going to the cinema after school, specially when there's a mall right next to your school. :)
Heh yeah I wish there was a cinema nearby here as well. Otherwise I'd consider buying a subscription so that I can go to the cinema all year for a set price. I'd love to spent some of my evenings there every month.

Whenever my friends want to go to watch a movie, we just stay at the mall, have lunch and wait until it starts. :)

But I think there aren't subscriptions in here. Individual tickets only.

Yeah, we don't know what artists think about that, not all of them, at least. I mean, everyone knows how much Metallica LOVES when you download one of their songs. ;P
Haha :p Aren't people blaming them nowadays for becoming sell-outs or something? Like when they made a Metallica Rock Band version, their fans really didn't like that or so I've heard.

I liked GH Metallica, I don't care whenever someone says that a band sold out. As long as their music is enjoyable...

Also, their concerts are amazing. :)

Also they played at a dutch festival called Pinkpop two years ago. Pinkpop... as the name already implies, it's mostly for pop/poprock music and a lot of people are dressed in pink there. There's nothing heavy metal about it at all. Yet they played there anyway.

Really? Wow, now that's pretty weird, since they have a bad-ass reputation... playing in a pop festival? O_o

Sure, it's possibly BB King's last world tour, but 150,00 for the CHEAPEST one? If it was about 100,00, I could've bought a ticket, but those extra 50,00 make a big difference. Come on, I paid only 40,00 for Muse. :)
Lol. That's a big difference indeed. How much are these 'reals' worth in dollars?

1 dollar = 1.76 reais. So 150,00 reais = 85 dollars.

That's a good idea, although I think they didn't get along with Syd Barrett really well. Still it would be a nice homage to the former members.
I don't know about that. All I know is that Syd Barrett lived alone for the rest of his life and always got pissed when reporters called him Syd Barrett. So I guess he never had much contact with the band anymore after the emotional meeting when they were recording Shine On You Crazy Diamond.

I know there's a reference to him in a Pink Floyd song in The Wall. It's a hidden backwards message in "Empty Spaces", I think.

And "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" is an excellent song.

Right... but do you think David Gilmore holds any bad feeling over Waters? I mean, the band didn't end in the most pacific way possible...
I think a friend told me some time ago that David Gilmore is the only one stopping a Pink Floyd reunion at the moment. The other band members have set their differences aside at some point.

Well, they should get over their differences and make a small reunion... Not only they would revive their old days, but the crowd would be sold-out, wherever they played at.

And HAARP is short for High Frequency Active Auroral Research Program. Don't ask me why they put that as the title. :P
Lol, that's a crazy title indeed. It's even weirder than How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb (U2). Is there any deep thought behind it (sorry for asking anyway)? :p

I'm not sure... Since Matthew Bellamy LOVES conspiracy theories, it might have to do something with it. HAARP is a target for many conspiracy theories, including nuclear weapons related. :P

So if they made an instrumental album...? :)
I think I might like it?

Who knows... they had a small orchestra in their previous album, anything is possible!

I really like it's riff. I actually learned how to play the whole song in one afternoon, it's easy and fun to play.
I'm no guitar player myself, but it indeed doesn't seem like a difficult song to me. As far as I can hear there are like only... two riffs in the entire song and that's it for the guitar play?

It's not too hard, it's a simple riff and the chorus is easy as well, only a few chords.

I'm pretty sure it would still take me weeks to learn though, since I really don't have any musical talent.

Learning how to play a guitar isn't a very easy thing... you will be horrible for 6 months, until you start playing something. It takes a lot of practice and patience. But it's worth it. :)

Despite that, I believe they don't use drugs. :P
Nah they don't seem like drug users to me. They seem more like the kinda guys that never smoke, drink or do drugs at all actually. I forgot how those people were called again... straight-edgers or something...?

I think that's correct, although I've seen Bellamy smoking with Slash in a video. Anyway, I think they don't do any hard drugs. Maybe just the regular alcohol / cigarette.

Too bad he smokes, though. :(

Well, we know he's a keeper of quality, as he's tied for second in the league in shutouts and leads the leagues in saves made.

Plus, he's the fifth best save percentage. Great teams start with great goalies. :)

Although Roloson's 58 saves for the Islanders was astonishing.
Yeah, that's pretty good, but having a leaky defence can do that to a team. So many Avs bodies on the ice blocking shots for Andy on Sunday night :P

Hahahaha, I can imagine that.

Will do if I can find any busy servers. If not, I'll have to move onto the next game.

Alright then. I'm sure there'll be at least some active servers.

Hmm, I thought CS:S would be their definite version of the game, and they would only update it, like TF2.
I thought CS:S was just a source port of Counter-Strike just like Half-Life: Source being nothing more than a source port from the original game.

It's very different from the original CS, not only graphically. I mean, From CS 1.5 to 1.6, we only had a few map additions and re-skinning some popular maps.

Meh, playing Pyro is a better idea. :)
Of course, I was just trying to make the medic useful.

Then make him heal people, which is his job! :P

I managed to hide as a pile of wood... behind a pile of wood! :P

The argument would be is why pay for high tech voting machines when you need the money to patch potholes in the road. Not to mention you would have to find someone knowledge able to run said machine. Most of the people who run polling places are pretty old in age.

Hmm, fine then, makes sense. It doesn't seem too hard to operate one, and you can always have a small course to operate them.

Still, the results come a lot quicker than with the paper voting. :)

Mirror Mirror isn't one of my favorite songs. And the reason why I mentioned Theatre of Pain is that every time I hear that "I'm gone" I instantly have the intro for "Theatre" in my mind. XD

Eh, fair enough.

No, that would sound awful.

Indeed, just one at a time will do.

Fact: I tried to write "unsexy", but it didn't let me.

See, I did warn everyone that you couldn't call me unsexy. Gagsy was just lucky.

And also it's unbalanced because: You gain exactly one point for every flash you save, one point for every flash you blam, one point for every post, one point for every review.
