And back to list-making, I suppose.
Anyway, today was "Windows 7" day here. My brother and my father installed it into our previous laptop, which had Vista (a "crime", according to them). Indeed, it runs a lot faster. My brother (graduated in computer engineering) did most of the job: downloading stuff, installing stuff, wireless-ing everything... When he was about to finish everything (video codecs, I think), a huge lighting strikes, almost toasting this desktop I'm typing on.
Luckily, it "came back" to life, after good five tries of turning on, bleeping and shutting down. And yeah, it has a no-break on, but apparently the lighting was right into our neighbour, and the no-break didn't resist it. Kinda scary to see my dad panicking at it, until it came back. =P
I better back up everything in here before it stops working completely...

And even better, on a new laptop, which is really smooth. This shouldn't take too long, I think.Awesome, does this mean better performance for TF2? :)
Ehh... not really. =P
As far as I understood my dad. he's planning to make that laptop for his and my mother's exclusive use (a.k.a putting it into their bedroom). I can't say anything, we have two reasonable PCs for our use now. Although none of them runs TF2 correctly, they're still working, aren't they?
HOWEVER, my dad mentioned getting another laptop, similar to the new one, to replace this desktop. He's worried about it stop working permanently. I think he should get a new desktop instead. But who knows, anything could be better than this one.

I've never heard of Status Quo, but Police is a pretty interesting band. They even played here in Brazil recently, in their reunion tour.
But really, I think the 70s were the greatest decade for music. So many new genres and ideas... It's hard to define the most influential one (remember, The Beatles had already ended their career).
How about News Reporter? *crowd boos at Bahamut*

Oh, and envy me for having that hat. :PI'd scream but on the other hand, I don't mind which Pyro hat I get. It can be the beanie which looks funny or it could be the Engineer's missing glove. I didn't particularly care about the glove hat until I came across a similarity between that and Feathers McGraw from Wallace and Gromit.
Hahahaha, yeah, it reminds Feathers. I remember watching three episodes from Wallace & Gromit in my English classes. :)
But I'd rather the Brigade helm. I like the beanie, but not so much for the glove. Either way, now I want the Fancy Fedora, for the Spy. 2 refined metals and growing!
Heh, I really like respawn now. It was weird at fisrt, since i was more used with CS, where you die... and that's pretty much it. But now, I can happily die and think, "meh, I'll have to wait 10 more seconds :)".From the sounds of it, I'll need to give Counter-Strike some time to get used to whenever I start playing it. I'm just so used to how TF2 works with respawning with the exception of Arena and PropHunt where no respawning is more appropriate. I mean, imagine if props kept respawning and you had to keep finding them. O_O
Hahahaha, that wouldn't be the best idea. But yeah, spawn-camping would be useful then. =P

Ah, they suffered a lot. But they played a prominent part in our culture.
When the Portuguese got here in 1500, they didn't do much for 30 years (aside from stealing Brazilwood). They used them as slaves, along with Africans that were also enslaved during their stops in Africa. Cutting sugar cane, mining... all the hard work.
They were released, eventually (I don't remember the year of the abolition, though). Since then, they have the option to live live they used to or to join the "common" society. Either way, some habits, culinary, tools... were adopted by pretty much everyone.

Yep, twice actually. They were also one of the two opening acts of U2's tour in 2005. And I've seen them live on a festival last summer, which was probably the best performance I've seen of them yet. But that's most likely because they were actually the main act and not just a supporting act, so they could make more use of the stage and all.
Anyway, if you like them you should probably check out A Hundred Million Suns. Although it's not as good as Eyes Open in my opinion, it's got a couple of nice songs and is a pretty good album altogether. I especially liked the last 16-minute track of the album consisting of three parts called "The Lightning Strike". They also had some nice animations for that song during the live performance (could be one of the reasons why I like it so much).

Games aren't really cheap here as well. Most stores charge games 70 Euro or above, even when they are over a year old. So I buy most of the games off the internet, where they are usually a lot cheaper, especially in the UK. Also the british pound is relatively weak compared to the Euro (well, the pound is still worth more, but it used to be a lot more than it is now) so even new games sometimes are 40 Euro cheaper in the UK then they are here!
Plus, the UK doesn't get stupid cut games like we get in Germany most of the time (yeah, green blood in horror games... or no blood at all like in Resident Evil 3!).
Oh.. back to topic. I used to have pirated copies of many games, but I threw them all out one day and bought the original games. I still download music from time to time, though, but I also buy a lot more albums than "back in the days" now.

- I hate when I see ads saying "MP10, MP11" and above. I can understand up to MP5s, but after that, isn't it easier just calling it a cellphone?
- Super Bowl tonight! I'm not too excited, though. I'd rather today's Capitals victory over the Penguins, marking their 14th straight victory! :)

Oh yeah, I want to hear that one! Hey Johnny Park is one of my favourite Foo Fighters' song, oddly. :)It's one of those that I get caught up in trying to sing the backing and lead vocals at the same time with. Still, a big of encouragement for the guys and we can make that work :D
It must be hard then, since the back vocals are more melodic and the main ones are more "dry", mostly in the chorus.
If you're still taking suggestions, listen to "Walking A Line". It's a B-Side, but it's an excellent song as well. I dare you to scream like Dave Grohl. ;)One of the very few Foos songs I haven't heard... I'll search for it.
Give it a listen: I have this one in a "One by One" special edition, that has some B-sides and a couple of live songs. It's worth trying it, since it's a quite heavy song, but with a catchy chorus. =)

Indeed. He already tried making things harder for collabs, in a "more authors, better flash" attitude. Really, the normal threshold could be raised a little. He should listen to the community's ideas more often.

It's really good, it's much lighter than Vista is. And I believe that most hardware compatible with Vista works with W7 as well. At least on our laptop, only one thing was left out, a "card reader", I think.

Yeah, you can't really tell if someone's concert is really good if they're only the opening act. The concert is shorter and the crowd is probably "saving" themselves for the main act.
I especially liked the last 16-minute track of the album consisting of three parts called "The Lightning Strike". They also had some nice animations for that song during the live performance (could be one of the reasons why I like it so much).
Nice, I'll check The Lighting Strike. I usually like songs that are divided in many parts, I think the bands tend to put more effort in them. Muse's Exogenesis Symphony and Dream Theater's "Trial of Tears" are good examples of this.

Yeah, I agree. I also don't know why they included so many songs from their recent albums (at the time). I mean, it's an special occasion, you don't play with an orchestra every day. But I agree, some songs don't really go well with the orchestra.
Same thing for albums. It just feels good when you have the real thing in your hands, not just a mere copy. Too bad most games in here are really expensive. This is why there's so much piracy in here (and the PS3 not being very popular =P).
...Plus, the UK doesn't get stupid cut games like we get in Germany most of the time (yeah, green blood in horror games... or no blood at all like in Resident Evil 3!).
Really? Wow, that's a bit too much!
Oh.. back to topic. I used to have pirated copies of many games, but I threw them all out one day and bought the original games. I still download music from time to time, though, but I also buy a lot more albums than "back in the days" now.
I admit that I still download some songs from time to time, but I really try searching for the albums. I'm still looking for a 311 album in here, heh.
I wake up and the street lights are still turned on. It's really tough now that we're in DST. But yeah, at least the day are longer. =)DST? I wish... :P
It's not that hard to wake up when the street lights are still turned on here. ^^
But at least the days are getting longer now. :P
Well, where I was, we could say that it was eight in the afternoon, since the sun was still up by then. =P
Another band that is mostly recognized by one song (one riff, actually). Deep Purple also has great songs, but Smoke on the Water blanks them most of the times.Yeah, it's a shame. Painter is really good as well as is Speed King or Child in Time.
I really like Highway Star and Woman From Tokyo. Real classics!
Also, it's weird that only their drummer remains from their original line-up. =P

I love that track (those tracks), but they really do disagree with iTunes, since it's always on shuffle. I'd end up in the middle of the track, but listening to Absolute Classic rock in work does help this, as they put the radio edit of Shine on you Crazy Diamond at least once a week.

Ah, right. At first, I thought about football, but there were league games that day, so... Plus, Wales only have Ryan Giggs as player, I think. :PIn what sport, exactly?Rugby - the only sport that matters to a Welshman.
Yeah, but we've got to play the Welsh in the football to qualify for the European Championships, which should be fun.
Why, the bartender must know the song , right? ;PHey, try convincing them, it'll sure be a great addition to your band's repertoire. I mean, everyone knows Nothing Else Matters, so you can always shout "sing along now!" :)That could only be fun if we get people turning up to the gigs we play :P
We'll see. I know that the landlady knows quite a few songs that our drummer's other band played a week last Saturday.
No, save that wit for the lock messages, where the enjoyment is public. ;)Hahahaha, of course. Make sure your ban messages cause the less butthurt possible, so you won't even be nominated. We'll see. Sometimes, my wit gets the better of even me, so it can be difficult ;)
And that's what causes the most butthurt, sometimes.
I'm an artist when it comes to voices - everyone knows that... At least I thought they didSure, you are gifted with the voice talent... but can you pull two different voices at the same time?
WITH ONE MOUTH? =OO
No, I'm not that good, but I did try singing Enter Sandman in the voice of Zapp Brannigan the other day, much to the amusement of all involved.
