Thanks for voting, Sispri! Your experience has been automatically deposited!

With that vote, you now have 8,700 experience points. You need 0 more to get to Level 29. The next Grounds Gold day begins in 4 hours, 52 minutes, and 35 seconds.

The more experience points you have, combined with BLAM and PROTECTION points, the more your vote is worth!

Really now? I didn't think they'd be known enough to have a song played at a jukebox in a pub. If you've heard a few songs of theirs, then you'll know Christopher Lee and symphonic metal are a great mix.

Well, the Red Man, where I drink on occasion has quite a lot of Iron Maiden, Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Opeth and the like on it, so why not Rhapsody?

Depends which songs the whole band is familiar with. It's no good in me suggesting songs none of you will recognise.
Well, we're metal, dealing with covers at present with a few bits of our own work thrown in. Maiden, Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Venom are just a few of the bands that we are working on covers of at present.
Manowar? XD

I haven't had to use my veto yet - I think that I may have been saving it for Raining Blood. Thinking about it, that wouldn't be too difficult to "sing". However, we have a few people in the band turning it down, because it's too difficult to play.

But Manowar? Nah.

QOTSA are awesome. Simple songs, but very nice sound and they just know how to write good riffs that get stuck in your head for a very long time. "Better Living Through Chemistry" for example. The riff is so simple, but it sounds so awesome. ^^

Well, it's practice tonight, so we'll have a chat, while I'm in recovery mode and some conclusions might be made.

Especially the songs on "Lullabies To Paralyze" are pretty easy to play. Plus, the guitars are in standard tuning for all the songs, unlike Rated R or Songs for the Deaf, where for most songs the guitars are tuned 2 half steps lower.
Well, we've got quite a few songs in Drop D, so we should be able to cope with another change if we work the setlist correctly.
Yeah, planning is everything. Also helps if the guitarists have more than one guitar. ^^

I guess they probably have, but when they come to practice, they only use the one guitar each, so it's difficult to tell at present ;)

I know how you feel. I hate programming... and I only passed that programming course because I had two guys in my group who do programming for a living. ^^

Yeah, similar story here. I knew guys who had connections with those kind of people, so they helped me out a lot last year. But I myself have absolutely no talent when it comes to learning and applying programming languages, and I'm not that interested in learning them either. So now that I gotta do something on my own, it turns out I completely suck at it.

Fortunately they gave me a few extra days to finish it though, so I think I'll go and find some help from guys who study these kind of things.

You can't have everything you want.

Last night's practice went better than a fortnight ago. My voice doesn't feel as bad, for starters, but I'm getting better at Symphony of Destruction (We did Seek & Destroy, leading into Symphony, which was ace), but was a little short when it came to Season in the Abyss. The 2m30 intro really gets me falling asleep, before I come to sing, so my timing is all screwed.

Homework for the week - PanterA - Walk.

Well, my 10 songs got more praise than I was expecting - It seems that everyone wants Lay Down, by Priestess, while Dr. Sticks really likes the idea of doing a Metal Cover of the Riverboat Song.

Of 5 members, I was the only one to have a list of 10. Dr. Sticks had a list of 9; Texas Ranger had a CD with 8 1/2 (Don't ask) and the other two didn't really show lists off, to be honest.

Hey, how's everyone? Now that I'm settled at home and decided to close TF2 for a while, I'll do a ~20 pages catch-up. And even better, on a new laptop, which is really smooth. This shouldn't take too long, I think.

Oh, and I wrote a new blog. Please read, at least the Metallica part. :)

Listening to/watching:

It's a great DVD. It's been roaming around our house for a while, and I never watched it entirely. And lately, I've become more interested in Led Zeppelin and 70's rock bands. Thank Eric Clapton's biography for that. :P

Yeah... I was wondering if the awards would still be held this year. The organization was terrible. Also there are lots of categories were I didn't even know who to vote for, since apparently it's 99% general regs that got nominated...

I didn't keep up with it this year, although I know who won each category because of that flash Kevin put up. But that's the tendency, always more General regs.

Perhaps we should hold one ourselves next year.

Not a bad idea, but I don't really mind about such awards, even though I vote in the BBS awards sometimes, for those who actually deserve. If this actually goes forward, I'd suggest that we use one of Bahamut's alt accounts as the host. :)

If it interests you, Brazil has quite a large indigenous population (compared to other countries, that is).

They have the option to become a "reserve" or to live among everyone else. There are still some tribes who speak their original native language (tupi-guarani), but most "learned" Portuguese (most of the times by force).

There are some complaints, though. Life farmers taking over part of their land for multiple purposes, which generates many protests from them. Oh, and since I live in the capital, it isn't rare to see some of them protesting either in front of the Indian's National Foundation or the congress itself.

If you're still taking suggestions, listen to "Walking A Line". It's a B-Side, but it's an excellent song as well. I dare you to scream like Dave Grohl. ;)

Well, it's improved yesterday - back up to 30, but when you consider that not all of them will be actual Blam points and I got 12 of them as points, I'm back on track for decent numbers.

Heh, I got about nine of them. Still that's not going to help me reach 10k anytime soon.

It's a case that the Blams are so rare these days that I'm considering asking Tom to trim down the ban conditions and raise the threshold for Blamming a flash - as I see it, we get a lot of games produced for websites flooding the portal at present and if people get 2 flash deleted within a week, they are perhaps not putting enough work in, but users that get 2 flash blammed in a fortnight might just be working hard, but not getting it quite right.

I'm not trying to encourage more blammable content onto the site... well, maybe just a little, but I'm trying to help users wanting to learn, plus encourage more budding artists to get onto the site and help the portal rediscover the glory days, when we had over 200 entries on a regular basis.

Personally I think they're one of the best bands of the past decade. Not that that's saying much, but out of their last two albums (Eyes Open and A Hundred Million Suns) I could point out at least 14 songs which I really like.

Less than 10,000 points away from me. I'm getting close to 120,000 total points but I won't get it until mid-March. Yes, I may be about 500 short but I can only rely on EXP and posts for now.

Awesome, does this mean better performance for TF2? :)

It's a great DVD. It's been roaming around our house for a while, and I never watched it entirely. And lately, I've become more interested in Led Zeppelin and 70's rock bands. Thank Eric Clapton's biography for that. :P

70s rock is good. I've recently tried listen to other bands from that era from my dad's music after having all his music on my iPod. The main two I've listened to so far are The Police and Status Quo. The Police are rather interesting but I find Status Quo to be too repetitive and lacks a good amount of killers.

I'd scream but on the other hand, I don't mind which Pyro hat I get. It can be the beanie which looks funny or it could be the Engineer's missing glove. I didn't particularly care about the glove hat until I came across a similarity between that and Feathers McGraw from Wallace and Gromit.

Heh, I really like respawn now. It was weird at fisrt, since i was more used with CS, where you die... and that's pretty much it. But now, I can happily die and think, "meh, I'll have to wait 10 more seconds :)".

From the sounds of it, I'll need to give Counter-Strike some time to get used to whenever I start playing it. I'm just so used to how TF2 works with respawning with the exception of Arena and PropHunt where no respawning is more appropriate. I mean, imagine if props kept respawning and you had to keep finding them. O_O

It'll be a long shot asking Tom to raise the blam limits. Tom has consistently said that he rather have several bad movies pass than to have it too restrictive to submit content. It would be nice, but I can see where he stands. Also, I think he is doing good about putting movies on the Frontpage that who artists who are up and coming and handing out prizes and awards. It's those things that will really help promote good movies.

Though, I'm not too overly concerned with game sites, like 123bee, submitting their games as much as other content that is coming in, i.e. 'here is a video, I posted it on Youtube but I figure to post here too...' where it consists of 10MB file of shit.

I'm not trying to encourage more blammable content onto the site... well, maybe just a little, but I'm trying to help users wanting to learn, plus encourage more budding artists to get onto the site and help the portal rediscover the glory days, when we had over 200 entries on a regular basis.
