Always a good point for a player coming in ;)
Still, I never even knew that Robben had left Real, so that's quite a coup for Munich to get such a powerful player. I saw him play for Chelsea as a 16 / 17 year old and he was a genius back then.Heh yeah, it was a pretty quick transfer. He had his last training with Real on Friday, after that he flew over to Munich and played on Saturday. He then came on in the second half and scored two goals (both assisted by Ribéry ^^).
Nice - we signed a player in the week (Stephen Warnock) and only had him on the bench. I wonder if we will have some more news for Aston Villa. Actually, us getting knocked out of the Europa League is probably a blessing in disguise.
If only he wasn't injured so often...
Ah, the downfall of all star players - you really want them to play 90+ minutes per game, so they run a greater risk of injuries over their careers.

Just to clear up a few thing before we end this debate and move on to other topics. :)
At 8/30/09 05:18 PM, Haggard wrote: As stated already, I hate it that you have to install a plugin for nearly everything (except for browsing which is a wonder, really).
You really install plug-ins on only things you want. I don't know why that escapes you. If you just want a basic browser; you can have one. FF by itself can block images without Adblock, comes included tab management (Ctrl+PgDn, Ctrl+Tab, Ctrl+Shift+T, etc), and highlights tag when you view source and it's great.
It's just that majority of the people want the ability to do more. They want to Twitter, listen to last.fm, check their email on their browser, so on and so forth. I find it hard to look at miles and miles of HTML so I use Firebug. I hate the pop up download manager so I use Download Status Bar. I hate Flash ads so I use ABP. It's about how I want to view the web.
And what if two plugins "don't like" each other. For example when the author of No Script decided that AdBlock is bad for his revenue and he crippled the AdBlock plugin so that HIS ads where still displayed.
In that case, then the NoScript is obviously malicious software. I don't think it would take long for people to realize what's going on and to remove it. There is always a risk to using third party software, don't get me wrong, but all of the plug-ins listed have been tested and confirmed to work if they are "signed" by Mozilla.
See, I really like the concept of OpenSource, but Firefox is not a good example for a good OpenSource program.
Really?? I think Mozilla is an excellent example of Open Source. If you really looked at what all has been done just by pressuring Microsoft get off it's ass and to live up to W3C standards and to decrease it's vulnerability to malicious attacks and phishing. I mean from IE 5 to IE 6 there was a five year span where they were content to do nothing. Then along comes lowly Mozilla, promoting better web standards and a faster browser and no sooner than later you have IE 7 and IE 8 finally making some head way and ripping off FF ideas. It wasn't done by a huge cooperation; just a few hundred people who wanted something better than IE.
You still have to trust Mozilla that they test the plugins carefully before putting them on their site. And there's still the possibility of plugins that you can download from somewhere else where you have to trust those people etc etc.
And they do. There is an entire community devoted to test plug-ins at Mozdev.org. If you decide to install unsigned plug-ins, that's at your own risk. You can't really hold that against Mozilla.
And if an author decides to no longer update their plugin? I really doubt that the abandoned project is overtaken by others.
Plus you have to keep track of updates for the plugins you use...
Then it really must not have been a really popular plug-in for an entire community to become disinterested. Also, FF also automatically checks for update for plug-ins. :)
Like I said from the start; different strokes for different folks. I love Firefox because it's easily editable; not just themes and extensions, the inner workings can be changed by about:config Everything from how much memory can be used to the number of pages to be display in the Back button is listed. There is no limit on what you can change and do with Firefox maybe that doesn't appeal to you but it does to me and to a majority of people. :)
I'm done. :)

It doesn't escape me, but out of the box Firefox really just has browsing ability. Which is just not enough for me. And I don't want to look around for plugins, I expect the browser to have the things I want already implemented. It's like buying a car which can has only the most basic abilties and everything else (like being able to open the windows, etc.) have to be installed extra.
Of course I could drive the car with it's most basic abilities, but it would be nice to open the windows from time to time. ;)
It's just that majority of the people want the ability to do more. They want to Twitter, listen to last.fm, check their email on their browser, so on and so forth. The source code editor which is build in in Opera is pretty good. You can even edit the source code and then view the page with the edited code.
If I don't want flash ads, I simply right click, chose "block content" click the things I want to block and I'm done. I decide how the transfer window shows up (pop up, in the background, not at all). I can decide which buttons I want to have on the menu bars, I can decide where the bars should be displayed, I can even display panels if I want to (or I can just not display them if I don't want to)
And what if two plugins "don't like" each other. For example when the author of No Script decided that AdBlock is bad for his revenue and he crippled the AdBlock plugin so that HIS ads where still displayed. In that case, then the NoScript is obviously malicious software. I don't think it would take long for people to realize what's going on and to remove it.
Thing is that most people I know who use Firefox also use NoScript for security reasons. Plus it was (or is again) a very popular plug in, AFAIK.
See, I really like the concept of OpenSource, but Firefox is not a good example for a good OpenSource program.Really?? I think Mozilla is an excellent example of Open Source. If you really looked at what all has been done just by pressuring Microsoft get off it's ass and to live up to W3C standards and to decrease it's vulnerability to malicious attacks and phishing. It wasn't done by a huge cooperation; just a few hundred people who wanted something better than IE.
Yeah, that's a good thing (but people still shouldn't use IE, as Opera AND Firefox are much better browsers ;) ). But that hasn't that much to do with open source in my opinion.
The best example of good open source programms is of course the many linux distributions. There the risk of using "thid party programms" isn't so bit in my opinion. It's much harder to programm for an OS than just writing a plugin for a browser.
Of course there's still some risk left in Linux as well, the infamous debian random number generator is the best (or worst?) example.
You still have to trust Mozilla that they test the plugins carefully before putting them on their site. And there's still the possibility of plugins that you can download from somewhere else where you have to trust those people etc etc.And they do. There is an entire community devoted to test plug-ins at Mozdev.org. If you decide to install unsigned plug-ins, that's at your own risk. You can't really hold that against Mozilla.
I don't hold it against them, but I know what users are like. The typical Luser doesn't care if anything is signed, they install it anyway. And when the damage is done they whine about it in the internet... a typical problem on Layer 8. :D
And if an author decides to no longer update their plugin? I really doubt that the abandoned project is overtaken by others. Then it really must not have been a really popular plug-in for an entire community to become disinterested. Also, FF also automatically checks for update for plug-ins. :)

Ah, so that's one point less on my "Things I don't like about Firefox" list then. :)
Like I said from the start; different strokes for different folks. I love Firefox because it's easily editable; not just themes and extensions, the inner workings can be changed by about:config
You can do that with opera:config as well. ;)
You can even write your own CSS to display websites just the way you want them to look like.
There is no limit on what you can change and do with Firefox maybe that doesn't appeal to you but it does to me and to a majority of people. :)
I like flexability, but I don't like to download a plug-in for nearly everything I want to have in a browser. :P
And I think Firefox is only so popular because you get spamed by "Download Firefox today!" ads on so many websites. ^^
I'm done. :)
Me too. :)
I don't know why but I find those kind of discussions funny. I constantly "argue" with a friend of mine about that topic as well. :D
But so far I haven't convinced him to use Opera and he doesn't succeed in convincing me to use Firefox. ^^

I think Jordi really suffered from the succes of his father. I mean he still played at Real Sociedad didn´t he? That´s not a bad club for dutch footballers to play for, yet I never heard anyone reckon him as a good player. But I must say that I don´t really know how popular he was at that club. Maybe he was one of the most dissapointing transfers ever.
Also I believe the Maldini's were both succesfull in their football carreers.

If a mod sees this, could you please delete one of my two level up posts as well as this one? Thanks.
