I was going to wait until I had another thing to post before I posted this just because I like my milestones in couples, but I once again have found myself swamped with work so here it is all by itself and lonely. :(

29,000 B/P

Only 1,000 more to go. >:(

Now that I'm on my winter break, I will be able to catch-up again! Hopefully, not only in here. I've been very busy with some school-related things, such as the cultural fair and some other tests. Now, three weeks of... whatever! =)

In this meantime that I've been absent, I set myself a B/P goal - 10,000 Blams & 10,000 Saves, simultaneously. No, I won't stop after that. Right now, I'm 80 saves & 119 blams away from it. I shall get it before the end of this month (I hope).

Oh, and I'm trying to change a little thing in my posts. Whenever I quote someone, I usually don't leave a blank line between whatever I want to quote and my post. This looks weird for someone who wants to quote my post, everything looks too "paired up". So... yeah, I'll try not to erase that extra line anymore. =P

Also, here's what I got over the past 1 + 1/2 month:

Level 28
Brigadier General
10 Total VP

Thanks to:

Hmm, I think he'll just ditch that idea. He barely has 8,000 votes and the whole thing is old now. Well... I hope he got the exposure that he wanted to his website, at least. =P

IT'S A F*CKING DISGRACE!!! >:(
Haha, I never get tired of seeing that, especially the quick reactions of the sound technician to kill the audio instantly after he swears.

Hahaha, yeah. I think that the sound guy saw it coming and was ready to mute it at any time.

I couldn't buy after, since I don't have a credit card. =(
Wow, didn't expect you to pick up this game so soon. You should have let me and gfox know that you were going to try it for the weekend. We could have had a few games with you.

Yeah, I should have let you know. Although I think it wouldn't work well, because I was playing mostly on Brazilian servers, and still I had ~100 of ping. Whenever I tried playing on a foreign server, that number raised to ~250, almost unplayable. So I just stuck with the local players.

Now that's a great metal achievement name. :D

Stage dive = 50 points.

Iron Maiden concert = 100 points.

I wish I could say the same. I need to find TF2 in a store... =(
In a store?

Yes. I can't buy it online, since you need a credit card for it. So the only legal option would be buying it on a store. I think the "Orange Box" is about R$100,00 (U$ 50,00).

SPECIAL POST DEDICATED TO GFOX.

Because, when he catches-up, he puts us to shame. ALL OF US.

At 6/8/09 11:15 PM, gfoxcook wrote: *** PRE-CATCHUP rambles (and then massive amounts of thanks listage... in the next post due to running out of SPACE, goddamnit!) ***

So the pre-catchup (catchup?) is like a warm up/interlude to the big part that follows?

Oh, one interesting thing about this spot I've paused at that I noticed on NG log:

being 3600 saves away from my goal means... 36k blams + 32.4k saves = 68.4k total b/p and a 1.111 blam/save ratio. 1.11111111111111111111111111, in fact. Perfection! Beauty! Woot! .... but again, NOT AN ACHIEVEMENT. Just cool numbery stuff for all the other folk out there who know about/share my 36 appreciation/love and/or love repeating strings of numbers like 1111 and the like.

Another proof of teh perfectians of teh 36. #;-}>

(yes, a page on NG being at .366666666... of the way through... happens every time a page has 11 posts out of the 30 limit, but... STILL!!!!! The timing, people... it's all in THE TIMING!)

Oh wow... you never fail to detect anything that involves a 36. Do you have some sort of beep that warns you whenever a 36 is around? =P

At 6/8/09 11:18 PM, gfoxcook wrote: Thanks to all of you for the 10.00 VP congrats! Passing 10 VP is one of the few "big NG stat landmarks" that has, at least for me, managed to hold its specialness all the way through the old AND new NG eras.

Indeed. I recently passed 10 Total VP as well (with my only account =P ) and I thought I'd never get here when I signed up back in '06. It's surely a nice landmark.

Nope, I didn't. But as the above link shows, I DID use gfoxclock to post about his 20,000 exp landmark. Probably because he'd slipped from 236 posts to 235 posts due to some old thread somewhere being deleted years later (WTF????) quite recently at that point. HAD TO RESTORE THAT 236 POSTMARK.

Well... I think you should be a little more ambitious with gfoxclock and gfox, post-wise. Go for something like... 336 posts on each. Then you could leave all the achievement posts for them. =)

Thank ye all kindly for the grats, and double grats in the case of Baha and Sir Nuts, on my engagement!

Yeah, I saw Bahamut's post in here, then I went to your page to check it. Since you never make news posts (except in the redesign birthday [which is actually pretty close] ), I thought you'd say something in your own comments. Thus, I congratulated you twice. =)

... Yeah. Way to believe in a false sense of future reality, me. #;-}> :::self-facepalms:::

It was a week... in the long-days land. =P

I kinda do this sometimes. I think "Hey, I'll dedicate this whole afternoon just to catch-up everywhere that I still need to catch-up, and finally post again in the C&C! YAY!!!". But then I get distracted and don't even open the threads that I planned catching-up on, and postpone it for the next day. And this goes on and on and on...

"Today is the best day to leave for tomorrow what you'll never do." Heh.

Yay, no more 37s from Bahamut... I hope.
Don't we all (hope that)? I mean, jeeeez. Damned 37-head. Him and iscrulz. THEY'RE AGAINST WHAT'S GOOD AND RIGHT IN THE WORLD, I tells ya. Which makes their historic epic conflicts over GTA / Final Fantasy all the more ironic and stupid.

Hahahaha, their 37-ness affects their daily lives. =P

TF2 is the most fun multiplayer FPS ever, and has no plot, no start and no finish, and... thus... comparing how many hours of a single player game with a storyline like a Zelda game... you have... to how much time in TF2... is not even comparing apples and oranges... it's like comparing eating chocolate ice cream to hiking up a mountain!

I can say that TF2 was one of the most fun games that I've played in a while. It doesn't have a serious ambient, unlike HL and CS, and the class variety is always a good thing. I really need to find it in a store.

At 4/21/09 01:28 AM, Sir-Nuts wrote: And, like you said in a latter comment, ~550 hours of playtime and counting. Will you reach 1000 hours of playtime until the end of the year?
Oh, long before then, I'm sure.

... Unless you meant my first year having the game by "the year," in which case no, I doubt I'll be to 1000 by June 30th (when I got the Orange Box, though I didn't start playing TF2 till a few days later in early July, I was too busy with Portal the first couple o' nights). But if you meant by end of 2009, then definitely.

I meant by the end of the year, 2009. Right now, you have ~780 hours and going up, considering that you are playing it while I type this. =P

It's a good strategy. =P Although General needs more people like you.
General had plenty of them (AND MANY OTHER GOOD VARIETALS), back in 2003-2004.

Yeah... actually, most of the "oldschool" listmakers in here are form '04, and they probably got more active around '05, so I'd say that '05 should have been a nice year as well.

"WOE BE TO THE PRESENT, FOR IT CANNOT COMPETE WITH THE PAST IN THE HUMAN HEART." -- Me, AFAIK.

Wow, why isn't that on your sig? =P

Yeah, but not many many regs from 2003 are still active nowadays at all. And that number is even lower when it comes to alts.
Well, the top 50 exp list says there's plenty of people from BEFORE 2003 that are still depositing. Unless by active you meant "doing more than just depositing."

Yeah, by "active" I meant more than just depositing. For me, depositing is like a daily obligation. But posting/reviewing etc... isn't. So, for me, being "active" means doing more that the obligation. =P

Otherwise, I'd already be in the top 50, instead of sitting at #51, waiting for my shot at the big show. Or hell, maybe the top 10 by now. O_o

Early days depositing-crimes?

Catching up is pretty. Catching up is good!

Correct! "This is a Call", to be exact. Now, I think that I shouldn't have mentioned the "begins with an F" thing. It made it too easy. =P

Well, I'm not ashamed anymore. =P
Yay, it wore off quick!

The benefits of a well-made catch-up. =)

Oh my, what have I done? I BROKE GFOX! ;_;
Don't worry, it was just a hypothetical nightmare scenario, it didn't actually happen. BUT DON'T EVEN TEMPT FATE, MAN! We shall never speak of this again.

OK then, just promise you won't change your quoting habits to something like "I ramble on for a whole page in just one post!!!" kind of thing. =P

Yeah, that would be really hard. But do you have any plans on reaching 20K posts, making you a 4x20K stat-wise?
Sure, eventually. No rush, though. Statwise, I'd rather get to 1k reviews at some point, actually, so I could finally be 5x1k.

1k reviews would be nice. I plan on start reviewing things again, it's been quite a long time since I wrote at least two reviews in a week.

I will, whenever I get a better computer for my use only. Which isn't likely to happen. =(
Well, you said TF2 ran for you, and you played all weekend, though it was "laggy." Was it laggy like playing online games back in the 90s on dial-up phone line connections was laggy?

Or laggy in a "the framerate isn't high enough to really enjoy this" laggy?

Well... it was laggy, but it still was enjoyable. However, whenever there were six or more guys on the screen, it became really laggy, probably at 1 frame per second. So, for my own good, I had to run from those places, before it was too late.

I enjoyed it, sure. But I'm also sure it could have been a lot better if my computer wasn't so old. According to Can you run it, I need, for the recommended settings, more RAM and a new video card. To sum up, a new computer would do fine. =P

There's plenty of games on Steam far less demanding on computers than TF2, also. So... anyway, you're already on Steam if you played TF2 for free, so you HAVE indeed joined the collective. WELCOME ABOARD, UNIT 11482!

It's nice being part of the collective. It's so... ONLINE!!! =P

OH NOE, I ruined your Brazil vs. Portugal educational lesson for whoever. Ooops. ;_;

It was for ThePigeonMaster, I think. Basically, it's just a bunch of extra mute letters in Portugal + the different accents. We ruined Portuguese.

There's four types of numbers, really, in my "gut reaction the moment I see a number" internal judgement-o-meter brain section:

1. squares, repeated digits, ascending/descending number clusters, cool things like that
2. even numbers
3. odd numbers
4. prime numbers (which are also odd, of course, so this is a detestable EVEN-LOWER subset of #3)

In a store?
I was gonna reply to that part of his post and say "Steam is all the store you need!" but then I reread the start of his post, and when he talked about the free TF2 weekend, he mentioned that once it was over, he couldn't keep playing because he no haz teh credit cards.

Exactly. No credit card = no TF2. =(

So he's trying to find it in a brick & mortar store to buy it with cash, presumably, since he has no credit cards.

Indeed.

Sir Nuts, if there's no stores there in Brazil near you that seem to have TF2 or the Orange Box (you did know it comes in that, right? Maybe you've been seeing that at various computer game/software stores and just didn't know it had TF2 in it? ... I kinda hope this is the case, since it'll mean you can pick it up real soon! #;-}>)....

Actually, there is a megastore here that seems to have the Orange Box every now & then. But... read below.

In the post below, that is. =P

Response to Wi/Ht? level up! Lounge 2009-07-17 16:56:13

I might also suggest trying to find it (in the Orange Box, or by itself, whichever... but Orange Box is a great investment--7 games for 1 price, never more than 2x the cost of TF2 on its own, from what I've seen) on a website (maybe amazon.com?) that offers payment methods other than just credit card.

OK, I'll just have to tell you this thing.

My father has been working with computers since the dawn of Windows. He's graduated in Civil Engineering, but decided to change his career. Anyway... he has seen computers evolving, along with their problems (Windows, lol). And he has seen the first hackers, viruses, spams etc...

Anyway... what that has to do with me buying/playing TF2?

Simple: he doesn't like seeing me playing things that are online.

About two years ago, I had Counter Strike 1.6 on this computer. I never played online, because he didn't allow me to do so. One day, I simply went against his will, and joined an online server. It was nice playing with "real" people at home. However, when he asked me if I was playing online and I answered "yes"... He freaked out. Out of nowhere.

His arguments were that "playing online would only give viruses to the computer" etc... I know it doesn't, how come playing CS will make that happen? Only if I do something stupid. Then, after closing the game, I realised one thing: he's too worried about viruses. I think that, when he first began working with internet access, a virus pretty much fucked up his whole computer. And, since then, he's too concerned about them.

One thing would be buying TF2 via the internet and playing it off-line. But, since TF2 doesn't have that option... it'd be pretty useless. When I was playing it that weekend, I was playing it hidden. Whenever he came into the room, I simply turned off the screen. So he wouldn't know about it.

Fun, isn't it?

Also, I second Bahamut's "wish you'd let us know you were gonna play on the free weekend" thought, Sir Nuts.... woulda been neat to break yer TF2 cherry among friends!

As I said a few quotes above, I was only playing on local servers. Less lag y'know. =)

And lastly: what's your Steam username? Even if you'll only be playing TF2 on free weekends for the foreseeable future, that's still better than nothing. Let me and Bahamut know it either here or privately via PM, and we'll friend ya!

Sir_Nuts, that would be. But I have already added you guys, anyway. =)

Still, I'm pretty much ditching the TF2 idea. It's laggy, it's online (OMG VIRUSES!!!!1!)... Maybe I'll be old enough to have a credit card when TF3 comes out, right? =P

In the beggining of August '08, there were many great shows here in Brasilia. To be more exact, 3rd of August. We had this ''classic'' festival here that happens since 1990, called ''Porão do Rock'' (Rock's Gate, pretty badass name), Joe Satriani and The Cult. ALL IN THE SAME DATE! BUT IN DIFFERENT PLACES!!! Serious lack of organization. I ended up going on the festival, since Muse played there. Great first concert I've been to. =)

A) it keeps all the thanks together where the people who were nice enough to congrat me can see my thankfulness, which is the whole point of thankslists and all, list though this may not be... and B) seeing as how I HAVE A SHITTON OF POSTS TO REPLY TO, every little byte counts. I haven't checked the list since the last update. It'll come eventually, but I did get two ranks yesterday, so it's all good :)

I think you're only 5 days behind him as of late, from what I noticed recently while doing catchups in the various list threads (the exp thread being the likely reason for me to notice such a thing, of course).

So yeah, I'd wager you'll be gaining that ranking spot you've been drooling over for YEARS NOW by the 20th. #;-}>

And don't deny it'll have more significance to you than just any ol' ranks, man! I know you wanna pass all 3 of my accounts someday, so passing the 1st of the three will be quite the treat for you. #;-}>

Well, I still wanna see about whether I can do the "edging forward with a save or blam here or there and then going weeks without voting again and thus avoid depositing" thing.
Don't forget, you can still get an additional 4 points to avoid that pesky deposit ;)

Bahamut ran an experiment for me with one of his alts. You can vote on 2 or 3 things one day, then wait a week and vote on 2 or 3 things again and NOT deposit. NG doesn't keep track of your 5-votes-to-deposit voting past a week at most. #;-}>

But I'll be to 36/36 by 8/15 anyway, I reckon.

I've got some perverted Mel Gibson wannabe to beat first. He still thinks he can beat me to 100k, so good for him :P

LOL.

Well, I should do - I've closed the gap by 1,000 Points over the last month down to 1,500 ish, so he shouldn't be able to put up too much of a fight.

Isn't it a bit closer than 1500ish now?

Yeah, but I'll still be around to chat with people. If I'm still on Newgrounds, I'm still doing stuff. If I can't carry on posting, B/Ping and reviewing, why bother depositing experience? Sure, taking a holiday and getting someone else to deposit for me is acceptable, but then I come back and carry on where I left off.

So you say... but time changes things. Anyway, I can easily see myself in an only-depositing NG role in the future. After all, for (somewhat) short periods of time in the past few years I've basically been there already.

I'd like to think that in addition to depositing for my main two accounts once I retire my 3rd in August, that I'll still be posting on my main and b/ping on my alt in addition to getting exp for them both, but the truth is that from time to time, all I'll be doing for semi-long stretches is just get exp on both of them. This is nothing new, nothing to be alarmed about, and doesn't mean a person is quitting NG, yanno?

I'd rather go into "life support" mode on NG than leave altogether is what it really boils down to. And I'm always thankful to see others who follow the same pattern, because it's better than no pulse at all.

In short... I LIKE TO WATCH? O_o

Ah, interesting. I knew about Paul Hogan and Steve Irwin, of course, but TF2 is news to me. But then, I'm not into shooter games big time (except for DOOM, which I still play regularly even today).

TF2 isn't just a FPS, it's also a series of great short films and many many many fan-made machinima and cartoons on YouTube and Newgrounds. TF2 is much more of a pop-cultural development than just any old game, which is why I mentioned its Australian character right alongside two great pop culture icons in America that are seen to represent Aussies (whether that representation was accurate or not is another thing entirely, of course).

So anyway, I hope you watched the link that I made to the sniper for ya. Every single one of the 9 characters in the game will have an official video someday. So far only 7 have gotten it, we're still waiting on the German Medic and the ????an Pyro. #;-}>

3. No extremely popular characters such as Cloud or Link were in the whole tournament due to bannage on them.

You do realise that millions more people know what a tetris block is, gamers or non-gamers... than know what/who Pyramid Head is, right?

I'd argue that makes a tetris block far more legitimate for a character battle, really.

CLOCK DAY CLOCK DAY CLOCK DAY
Ding ding ding ding!
Yay, I'm right! What do I win?

The pleasure of joining Coop in passing gfox in exp some day in the not-so-far-off future?

I think that's so, but I'm not too sure. I've noticed some of my alts I meant to stop depositing for I accidentally voted on them a few times (no deposits, though) and later, the voting was reset so I'd have to vote for 5 more flashes to deposit again.
Well, can you help me out by confirming that? i.e. if you have an alt you stopped depositing for, but it wouldn't kill you if it gained 10 exp by accident, vote on 2 movies for it today and see what it says... "4 more till deposit..." and "3 more till deposit..." hopefully... and then in a couple weeks, vote on 2 more movies for it again, and see if it says "4 more, 3 more" again or if it says "2 more, 1 more..."
Sure thing, I'll look into it.

And thank you very much for indeed looking into that for me. ROCK ON.

And that would explain how he magically always pops up in topics about him.

Well, anyone can pop up in a topic about themselves if they:
A) obsessively search for topics about themselves either on NG's search or google or something... or:
B) have a network of informants that would notify them via PM or e-mail or IM if such a topic ever occurs.

Still it´s weird though. It´s a single released in between two albums, like Electrical Storm, but both those albums were released shortly after eachother... Why not wait to release it with the album and make it the "promotional single" or something?

Well, Electrical Storm was a very different sort of single from U2. Instead of being associated with any one album like MOST singles are/were... wasn't it released on one of the decade-BestOfs double-discs?

We do have Under A Blood Red Sky here. My dad's bought all the albums U2 ever released except for Wide Awake In America and 16 singles. And I like how he got an original LP of October, even though our LP player doesn´t work so well anymore..

Oh, you do have it? Awesome. Well, listen to more Party Girl and 11 O'Clock Tick Tock, then! They'll grow on ya.

Nothing wrong with having old LPs but no way to play them. I have lots of old 1970s LPs but no record player as of now. Vinyl is nice just to have, especially for the HUGE cover art. #;-}>

But the last time I listened to UABRS was several years ago I think. And I didn´t even listen to the album in full then. Just Sunday Bloody Sunday, New Years Day perhaps and it´s how I got familiar with The Electric Co. (which is I think my second favourite U2 song ever). I just always skipped 11 O Clock Tick Tock and songs like that because I didn´t know them and didnt wanted to know them I guess.

Stop skippin'! Listen to the whole danged thing next time you listen to it. #;-}>

And now that I think about, I´m actually not that familiar with the early U2 albums, except for Boy. I haven´t given October and War a good listen yet. Should do that some of these days.

Is the only reason you're familiar with Boy because Electric Co from UABRS got you to listen to Boy beyond I Will Follow more?

War is an excellent album, start to finish. A couple songs on there I sometimes skip, but it's definitely in the top 5 U2 albums to listen to from start to finish.

Okay I think I get your point now. And I think you´re right about this. What´s released on the albums might just be one side of a band and it sometimes is the only side we get to know. And it might be completely different from how they actually are.

Yeah, pretty much.

And yes indeed I thought No Line On The Horizon sounded a little weird at first. But I had the same feelings with HTDAAB. With U2 I just always gotta get used to it I guess. Giving an album a few more listens, it always starts to sound better and better to me. But in NLOTH case I´m afraid I´ll have to put it on the very bottom of my favourite U2 albums list. It just doesn´t appeal to me that much.

Ah well. They can't live forever. At some point their music is either gonna disappoint you or they're gonna stop releasing it. One way or the other, it has to end.

Okay that seems nice. I like how you can have a whole personal page with all kinds of achievements for each game. And keeping track of number of hours played and all.

It only keeps track of your hours played in the past 14 days. Cept for Left4Dead, which aims to keep track of your total playtime (but it does so via a counter that doesn't work quite right... not sure how it reconciles time spent in game vs. in-lobby, in menus, etc...). Oh wait, and TF2 keeps track of your total playtime for each class, which means you can add them all up and get your actual total playtime (only alive, not waiting to respawn). But yeah, in terms of actual time with the game RUNNING, Steam only keeps track of that in "past 14 days" increments.

What is this Steam I keep hearing you talk about by the way? I know it´s something for PC gaming, but I´m not quite sure what it does... =/

Steam is a program by Valve (the makers of all Half-Life, Team Fortress, Portal, and Left4Dead games) that lets you buy and install and play 100s of games by many different production companies without having to worry about copy protection or losing discs, boxes, or manuals. It lets you install and play the games on any computer in the world you want to (but you can only be logged in/playing on one computer at a time).

Those links to game stats in the post of mine you were replying to... they can be followed on the web, like you just did, or through Steam itself (Steam is built on IE, unfortunately, but it runs fine even so). It also lets you keep a friendslist, and IM with your friends, find games to play that your friends are already in, and do full chats in groups you can join.

Well is there an accent in either direction, I can't think of anything else it would be,

There's no accents above letters in Japanese. English letters, I mean. Japanese characters themselves have two different marks that can be above and to the right of them... and those marks are somewhat like an accent mark in appearance, I suppose, but rather than affect the vowel sound like accents do in Europe, they change the consonant sound (for instance sa becomes za with such a mark, or ta becomes da).

the Wii has lots of charactres like that, so I will check, I won't check.

Wii has characters like that for people trying to type in Spanish or French or whatever, dude, it's nothing to do with Japanese.

Well, I prefer the regular one to the golden, actually. The golden is so boring looking, so monochromatic.

And in any event, you'll be up to level 42 on your actual account soon enough, and level 42 is the greatest level icon in the history of NG, so... yeah. Be happy.

Okay you smartass The gfoxcook presents 2 by 10,000 pentalist stats. I am talking the Saves and blams, with the Experience and posts and the reviews (flash only). I suppose it was grounds gold points is the original.

Ahhh, so my pentalist stats are the original stats to you, eh? What a compliment.

There's just one problem: on my original list, there weren't even all those stats. There were just exp, b/p, and posts. Even if you want to split b/p up and say blams and saves were both original on my list (they were, but not in separate columns), there were no REVIEWS on my original 10k+ list. So... even flash reviews only isn't original.

But yes, if we're talking about NG itself, of course.... blams came after exp, saves came after blams, etc.

Good riddance to you Cooper now if you can retire on 60,000 B/P it would be great. Which alt will you be using.

So you're saying someone hacked your account and gave you this new sig pic?

No, I'm saying that the haxxors deleted the sig text/sig pic off both my posting accounts (yep, they even hit gfoxclock, who hadn't posted since March), and I had to come up with a new pic because my old pic's transparency was fucked all of a sudden. It used to work, maybe it's because I hadn't changed in it in like 4 years.... so I had to do one with the NG BBS background colour instead of transparency, and then I noticed it was SHRINKING THE FUCK out of the oldstyle NG b/p rank badges, so my sigpic was so tiny the old way, I figured why not get rid of the old Colonel badge (with no laurels on it), and do a nice mirrored pic with the EGSC at the middle, and all those lovely General ranks with pretty green laurels on 'em flanking it on BOTH SIDES.

et voila! It is done.

Also, I edited the text/links a bit and added a link to Bahamut's pentalist next to my old defunct pentalist info about a very very very old update now. #;-}>

What had happen is that Josh had his account deleted so it erased the posts he posted. I guess he is moving on from NG.

So you're saying that Josh Bedn had between 30-60 posts in LUL?

Not sure if I think that number is too high or too low, but how can you be sure that all the deletions in here were JUST from his account, eh?

At 7/14/09 09:08 AM, Lizzardis wrote: Just a quick question guys, when did the Wi/Ht? level up lounge first begin to have lists like they do now?
Around page 1100s or 1200s? I just glanced and that's when it seem to take off. Of course there have always been "congrats" and "thank yous" going on in this thread; just not in neat list form. :)

Might be even earlier than that.

I know one thing for sure: my own congrats listing began not in LUL, but rather in the top 50 saves topic. My old updates back in 2003 and 2004 in there (go check the early pages yourself for some nice historical funs) always featured a section before the top 50 list update itself wherein I congratulated every one who was in the list for any b/p rank-ups they got. So I ended up with a little uniquely-formatted congrats list for nothing but various EG ranks being attained by elite saviours.

Fun times. Fun times.

Not only that, but I think I remember that for every user and every rank-up, I also put WHICH # they were. i.e. the 4th to that rank or the 20th to that rank or whatever.

You don't need adblocking on Opera as much, as it's more stable and secure than Firefox, and doesn't let pop-ups through as much as vanilla Firefox does.

Also, passwords ARE saved differently in Opera, but what you do is get the Password Wand to remember a password for a username on any site... and then when you're on that site (might have to be exact... i.e. what works on www.newgrounds.com won't work on bahamut.newgrounds.com), you simply click the magic wand near the URL bar and it auto-fills the password for you PLUS hits enter/logs you in.

So if you want to stay logged in always, make sure to check that "stay logged in" checkbox BEFORE you hit the magic wand button.

Especially in the game's more rural areas where there's a bit more driving to do to get places.
Yeah. :( Was this eating thing really necessary? This is the kind of realism that video games should tend to avoid.

It was Rockstar's attempt at semi-realism. Every new GTA, they always try a few new things.

On the plus side, realism-wise... you can swim in GTAs now, instead of drowning immediately if you fall in a puddle of water like in GTA3 or GTA:VC.

Also on the plus side, for GTA:SA: at least they didn't make CJ have to use the bathroom realistically. #;-}>

I only erase those lines when I'm doing a bit of a pyramid quote reply, and the overall post I'm trying to make is near the NG limit, so I have to watch out for space-wasting things. But yeah, for the most part, that extra line is important so things look visually clean and less confusing. Good change, mate!

Level 28
Brigadier General
10 Total VP

Congrats, especially on BrigGen (my fave rank icon on OLD pre-redesign NG!) and 10+ VP!

Yeah, I should have let you know. Although I think it wouldn't work well, because I was playing mostly on Brazilian servers, and still I had ~100 of ping. Whenever I tried playing on a foreign server, that number raised to ~250, almost unplayable. So I just stuck with the local players.

Aw. That sucks. ;_;

What kind of connection do you have, and how far are you from the major internet backbone area of Brazil?

Yes. I can't buy it online, since you need a credit card for it. So the only legal option would be buying it on a store. I think the "Orange Box" is about R$100,00 (U$ 50,00).

Man, it's a lot cheaper in the past year most other places. It shouldn't still cost that much over there.

Anyway, worry not, me and Bahamut are gonna get just TF2 for you and Wylo, we just need a sale to make it more affordable first. Half-price off happens all the time for it, so it'll be here before you know it. If you're never going to be able to play with us due to ping, that kinda blows, but... you can still have fun on local Brazilian servers, at least.

I remember reading about this. Molotov used to be the original X-Naut, right? And what was X-Naut's nickname before the change?

Yes, Molotov was once X-Naut. Before he was X-Naut, he was about 10 other names, BTW. I once made a list of them all because he changed usernames like once every 2 weeks or at most once every month. Back in 2003-2004. But anyway, he actually stayed on X-Naut for YEARS. And that's why I and many others think of him/know him only as X-Naut. The bastard changed his name one last time to crappy ol' Molotov, and then a fake X-Naut moved in on the name that he had been known by for fucking YEARS. That led to the whole fake/real X-Naut dramas, which were really comedies, not dramas. #;-}>

But in short: what would you think if after 10 years of being gfoxcook on NG, I changed my name to chilimonkey or something and let some newbie take gfoxcook, and not only that... but this new gfoxcook posted in the SAME AREAS of the site that I still post, eh?

That'd be lame, confusing, weird, and.... many other things. So many that it's hard to find a single word that encapsulates the experience.

At 6/6/09 10:23 PM, gfoxcook wrote: gfox, me alt alt, has reached the holy 42ness and now has my favourite level icon. I'm so jealous of my own alt's alt. ;_;
How's that even possible? Being jealous of... yourself? O_O

It's easy. I wish I could have the level 42 sword icon on THIS account, but I can't.

Years and years ago, many of us wanted a level system where you could DISPLAY any weapon you'd already earned in the past next to your posts and/or in your profile, if you liked it better than your current level's weapon. I so wish that system had come true with the redesign. But sadly, it did not. ;_;

Something like that.

Another proof of teh perfectians of teh 36. #;-}>

Yes.

Oh wow... you never fail to detect anything that involves a 36. Do you have some sort of beep that warns you whenever a 36 is around? =P

Nope. It's a silent awareness that just comes over me.

Indeed. I recently passed 10 Total VP as well (with my only account =P ) and I thought I'd never get here when I signed up back in '06. It's surely a nice landmark.

Indeed it is. Gotta love the 10.00ness.

Well... I think you should be a little more ambitious with gfoxclock and gfox, post-wise. Go for something like... 336 posts on each. Then you could leave all the achievement posts for them. =)

gfox has never posted, and I see no reason to start now.

HOWEVER... since I'm going to retire his exp and his b/p.... it's possible that I'll want to show off his nice level 42 sword every now and then, so maybe I WILL start to post with him (some) on the BBS. We'll see. #;-}>

Hahahaha, their 37-ness affects their daily lives. =P

Those bastards. :::thhhhhhbpts iscrulz and Bahamut:::

TF2 is the most fun multiplayer FPS ever, and has no plot, no start and no finish, and... thus... comparing how many hours of a single player game with a storyline like a Zelda game... you have... to how much time in TF2... is not even comparing apples and oranges... it's like comparing eating chocolate ice cream to hiking up a mountain!
I can say that TF2 was one of the most fun games that I've played in a while. It doesn't have a serious ambient, unlike HL and CS, and the class variety is always a good thing. I really need to find it in a store.

Yes. It's very un-serious. Some people PLAY it seriously, take their skill at it seriously, or take losing/getting killed seriously... but all you have to do if you start taking it too seriously is LOOK AT THE SCREEN. It's so fun. It's meant to be a game, not a grind or a job like some games become to professional (or wannabe professional) gamers.

Gotta love the TF2s.

Look on the bright side - at least there aren't "OMFG leval 9 taiks 4EVAR!!!1!" users anymore! =)

True, true.

I think everyone would trade a 36 for a 99, in this case.

I'll take 136 instead of either of 'em. #;-}>

I enjoyed it, sure. But I'm also sure it could have been a lot better if my computer wasn't so old. According to Can you run it, I need, for the recommended settings, more RAM and a new video card. To sum up, a new computer would do fine. =P

Try more RAM first. RAM is really cheap, relatively. And it might fix it for you, though the "six guys on screen at one time" making your framerate plummet sounds really distressing... hmph.

There's plenty of games on Steam far less demanding on computers than TF2, also. So... anyway, you're already on Steam if you played TF2 for free, so you HAVE indeed joined the collective. WELCOME ABOARD, UNIT 11482!
It's nice being part of the collective. It's so... ONLINE!!! =P

Mwahahaha. YES!

It was for ThePigeonMaster, I think. Basically, it's just a bunch of extra mute letters in Portugal + the different accents. We ruined Portuguese.

I'm sure to many people from England, Americans ruined English. #;-}>

Heh, this reminds me that I have this old & dusty Rockets cap in my cupboard. It's circa 1998, because I remember wearing it when I was about 4 years old. 8)

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooe. Don't give up. ;_;

You need to talk things over with your dad and convince him that you won't get the computer all covered in virii just because you're playing a mainstream game online. O_o

No you kinda park up to it in such a way that you won't pick it up when you get off but will when you get on. This video probably explains it better than I can,but after he gets back on and the screen turns black pause immediately unless you wanna spoil the surprise.
Ah, okay. No need for me to watch the video, I think I envision the entire process somewhat accurately now. I'll definitely try that next time I'm in VC, and if I can't get it to work, then I'll refer to a vid for help. Thanks for letting me and Bahamut know about that.

It's a pity when some games are more simulations than proper games; funny you mentioned Gran Turismo because I bought #4 on PS2 and didn't get very far, I know that the handling physics are realistic but having played the likes of the Burnout games it was impossible for me to adjust to the more realistic driving style, sans 150MPH powerslides :(

Yeah, I should have let you know. Although I think it wouldn't work well, because I was playing mostly on Brazilian servers, and still I had ~100 of ping. Whenever I tried playing on a foreign server, that number raised to ~250, almost unplayable. So I just stuck with the local players.

Ouch, that's a nasty ping and it's worse when most servers have a ping limit. L4D seems more lenient as my sister and her boyfriend have gone over 300 (even 1500 one time) and didn't get and kicks or such. The game must have played like shit, though. :(

Ouch, I understand his concern for viruses, but seriously? He's worried about you possibly getting any viruses from Counter Strike, Team Fortress 2 and such? Their Steam client clearly suggests that as they require credit card details in order to purchase anything from their store and have they done anything besides acquiring legitimate money from customers? Not at all. :)

Yes but it's good to remember incase anyone else you know wishes to add you on Steam. I did try looking up your ID on Steam but I put a hyphen in the URL and didn't even think of underscores for your name. :S

Still, I'm pretty much ditching the TF2 idea. It's laggy, it's online (OMG VIRUSES!!!!1!)... Maybe I'll be old enough to have a credit card when TF3 comes out, right? =P

How bad are the lags exactly? I often get the game going to 15 - 25 FPS, even though my laptop is clearly capable of running it at 60 FPS. I believe either there's a Steam client issue or my internet simply needs upgrading. After all, I should be having 10MB and not a 2MB cable which is outdated.

Or to when the Wii claimed your life. OH, THAT THREAD! =P

Wii? Claiming his life? Good thing the Wii will never do that to me. As a matter of fact, no game will ever 'claim' my life as I always play them for a reasonable amount of time. Sure, I might play a bit more than usual or a bit less, but it's nothing where I'm on it all the fucking time like my sister who has actually spent over thousands of hours on World of Warcraft in total.

BLOW YOUR SPEAKERS!

FOR ROCK N' ROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLLL!

Glad to know I'm not the only one who enjoys their music. I still wonder why so many people hate them just as much as they hate My Chemical Romance and such. They're not THAT BAD, dammit! And really, hating them just because they look 'gay' is such a pathetic excuse. You might as well hate Judas Priest and Queen for their vocalists being homosexuals as well. The worst part about people calling Manowar gay is the fact that Manowar have written a song or two about raping women. HOW can that be gay?

Indeed. VRock is the best radio station on the GTA franchise.

Oh yes, I've had a lot of fun listening to VRock. As a matter of fact, VRock has made me want to get some of Twisted Sister's stuff, despite the 'glam metal' tag they often get. Quite frankly, I could care less about what kind of psuedo-metal genre they are when they make kickass tracks such as I Wanna Rock and We're Not Gonna Take It. Infact, I was hunting down in the music shops for Stay Hungry today but sadly, I didn't see it anywhere. :( However, getting the two Mars Volta albums for £10 combined compensates that.

Why infamous? I find it one of the nicest levels.

Well, it was well known for being the first non-fist in the old 30 levels.

Conclusion: level 42 = BADASS.

Can't wait until I wield the sword on 30th October. MARK YOUR CALENDERS THEN as the sword is the best icon for my name.

I might have to try for a 2nd EGSC account. #;-}>
Two EGSC accounts? That's... something never seen before. =P

Hey, it's still possible. It's just no-one has ever tried to get two EGSC accounts before. The closest for an alt EGSC is Afro_Stud's LevelOneAccount, unless I'm forgetting someone...

Yeah, that was quite the multi-day delay on reacting to Coop detaching your dragon sack and playing the juggler with your naughty bits. You should really pay more attention to your dragony jewels in the future. ;_;

I know, I know. Else, who will take over me once I'm gone? ;_;

1. He's a legitimate character, unlike a fucking Tetris block.
2. He's awesome and enough people agreed with that. :)
3. No extremely popular characters such as Cloud or Link were in the whole tournament due to bannage on them.
You do realise that millions more people know what a tetris block is, gamers or non-gamers... than know what/who Pyramid Head is, right?

Here's the thing, Pyramid Head is an actual character, while a fucking Tetris block ISN'T! It's reasons like this why GameFAQs is one of the lowest forms of shitty communities on the internet along with YouTube and Facebook. As long as the characters are legitimate, I have no arguments over who's in the final. Seriously, it could be the blandest character you could possibly find and it'd be still more legitimate than a shaped block.

I'd argue that makes a tetris block far more legitimate for a character battle, really.

Seriously gfox, nothing and I do mean NOTHING can make L-Block a legitimate character. Calling L-Block a legitimate character is like calling Slipknot the founders of prog rock.

Hey, he's been a douchebag for years now and still is.
I dunno who we were even talking about anymore, so... ehhhhhh. :::shrugs:::

BonusStage?

Yay, I'm right! What do I win?
The pleasure of joining Coop in passing gfox in exp some day in the not-so-far-off future?

Good enough. :D

Fab auras fucking sucks with everything. END OF STORY!
LOL. You're as bad about fab as iscrulz is about FF.
At least I'm right about fab aura sucking.
Good point.

Hahaha, for once I win on the fab aura argument. Now if only I could win more arguments on the stupid pink icons.

Congrats. I take it you refer to NemesisM66 having the golden mallet/hammer and you getting the regular ol' lv41 one, eh?

Well, I prefer the regular one to the golden, actually. The golden is so boring looking, so monochromatic.

No, the golden one is made of goddamn butter!

No shit.

It's not 41, 41's okay but not a great level. It's 42-43-44-45 you're thinking of. Like I just expressed to that xiiviiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiish bastich.

Wait what? I thought you loved the skullcrusher. Sure, the bandage on it looks a bit weird but besides that, it's badass.

New and improved and I love it. :)
You never said on Steam whether you noticed my little linky to your list specifically, though. #;-}>

At least I shared my thoughts here.

I believe one of them was the food system or some shit. I'll ask him again to double check his reasons. My other friend who doesn't like GTA4 claims the game is boring and doesn't have the same feel as GTA3, VC and SA.
That's not true. That it's boring, I mean. Certainly it doesn't have the same feel as those three, though. It's a newer game than them, it's much better looking, the physics are TOTALLY different... don't go expecting the same ol' car and motorcycle crashes and stunts. You can still do amazing things, but if you don't do them just right, you're going to fling your body off the cycle or out of the windshield. #;-}>

Now that should be said to my friend (and possibly thousands of other people with similar thoughts), not me as I have no opinion on the game yet. However, I won't knock it until you try it.

Another complaint I have is how the blocking system is done in this browser. Firefox's AdBlock was much easier to use. Besides those issues, Opera is really good to me SO FAR. :)
You don't need adblocking on Opera as much, as it's more stable and secure than Firefox, and doesn't let pop-ups through as much as vanilla Firefox does.

I wish to take down most of the ads anyway as the majority of them irritate me. The only ones I'll want to keep are those that are displayed on this site. I mean, why is it that so many adverts on TV make me want to break the TV in the front room? It's because they irritate me so much. On the other hand, if I broke the front room TV, it would at least get us to get a HDTV at long last. What we have right now is a 13 year old TV. So yes, the quality of it is piss poor but at least it's lasted a really long time for a TV.

So if you want to stay logged in always, make sure to check that "stay logged in" checkbox BEFORE you hit the magic wand button.

That's what I've done and it hasn't done what I want exactly for saving my alt's passwords. Meh, I'll just use Firefox to deposit my alts, I'll be fine with that.

At 7/16/09 12:38 PM, Bahamut wrote: Yeah. :( Was this eating thing really necessary? This is the kind of realism that video games should tend to avoid.
It was Rockstar's attempt at semi-realism. Every new GTA, they always try a few new things.

Well, the food system doesn't sound like the brightest idea they came up with at the time.

On the plus side, realism-wise... you can swim in GTAs now, instead of drowning immediately if you fall in a puddle of water like in GTA3 or GTA:VC.

THANK GOD! I always hate falling in the water in those games. Infact, many people seem to be rather traumatized with water in video games. I don't bicker too much on water-based levels/games as much as a lot of gamers do. Maybe since I love the Ecco and Tomb Raider games, I don't wish to complain about water in video games too much.

Also on the plus side, for GTA:SA: at least they didn't make CJ have to use the bathroom realistically. #;-}>

I will go nuts if there's ever a GTA game where you have to take the goddamn bathroom often. I'd say any game but...*looks at The Sims* Now that kind of game is fine to have characters having to eat, shit, shower and such.
