I just wanted to drop by and give a shoutout to my ol' alt-alt gfox.

A few days ago he hit 10,000 exp and level 17 on the same freakin' day.

I briefly considered stopping depositing for gfox right at 10,000 exp so...
A) it'd forever be at an awesome amount... and
B) so it'd immediately backslide back into the holy level 16.

But B) is totally fucked by the level 60 system coming... why bother trying to remain at level 16 when soon he'll be at level 30 or something and... who knows which icon it'll be.

And A) isn't enough reason to stop, especially since I'd still be depositing for gfoxcook and gfoxclock every freakin' night... so what's one more account? I have a habit/ritual every night that's easy to execute and remember to do, and features me voting 5s on all 9 BEEBO flashes and some of my fave Zekey and MarcM flashes as well.... so... all's well the way things are now.

It seems like a lot of you folks in here are talking about the old level system like it's here to stay. Are you just, as the above seems to indicate, poking gentle fun at how long upgrades can and often do take to finally happen? Or has there been some news I've missed in the past month or so to indicate the level change may not happen? DO TELL!

By the time 9 came out in May of 2005, I'd already helped to raise the first 7 quite a lot. 8 and 9 never dipped too far in the first place, but I've been voting on them as well, on all 9, since then... and as of today, here's how high the scores have raised since July 2003 when I began voting on every single one every day, mostly 5s (I do throw 4s often at the lesser BEEBOs, such as 4 and 5... and to a lesser degree 3 and 7... to make sure they aren't as highly rated as the best BEEBOs. #;-}>)

When Pimp's deposit stops preventing you from keeping the level.

After all, if he deposited before you and NG didn't have any "level lag," then you never would have even touched the level that day.

So IMO, backslide is just an illusionary effect caused by Pimp not depositing right after midnight (which would be the kindest way to be a level 30, IMO, and I do try to do that over on RG, where I'm the level 30)... and by NG having sucky lag when folks don't deposit right away but later in the day and sometimes the systems fail to notice until the next day begins, basically. If then, occasionally.

Congrats on your rank up, but I feel compelled to point out that you must be talking about Major General there, since BrigGen is the one-star laurel-wreath rank (and still, as always, my favourite NG b/p badge rank icony thingie of ALL TIME).

I know what you mean and how you feel about the b/p ranks, BTW. It was long ago that I retired at 60k, and even longer ago that the real pressure was off upon hitting teh 30k. I would no more want to restart that struggle on my main account here than I would want to delete this account and have to start over.

Granted, I've been getting b/p on gfoxclock, my alt. But also grant that I feel no pressure to do so quickly. In fact, I've been stuck at the same b/p amount since November on that account. I should really visit the portal sometime. #;-}>
