Thanks, but I don't really think I know too much. I'm just a little twisted 14 years old.

I actually don't like gyms.. I don't go to the gym at all. But I do martial arts! :o

I'd like to join.

Every morning for football, I have to go out with my team and stretch, do agilities (strides, kerioki, tapioka, and back pedal), and run about 2 miles either by jingle jangles (single file line where the last person sprints to front of the line and so forth) or an arobic run (A timed run at your own pace). I then go to the weight room and lift. I benchpress, backsquat, power clean, military press, different leg workouts, and i do many exercises with dumbells.

I'm 6'0', 140 lbs. and I bench 85 lbs. for 4 sets of 6 reps. I backsquat 130 lbs. and power clean 99lbs. I'm really looking to build my body and I'm looking for any tips that can help me.

For your hight you need to gain a good 20-25 lbs. Eat alot of food but good food, and lots of protein or protein drinks, and work out like you are, you just need some weight on you.

Its ok pal. No worries. You're still a member though. Remember this is a rea gym...and you're never gonna escape.

MWHAHAHA!

Oh and check this out. I did it for a few weeks and I really notice some huge changes in my arms. Perfect for toning. I got a little carried away and lost my devotion to it. So I've started again just doing 10 of each. And it works amazingly.

Exercise 1 - Chest and Shoulders
Lie on your back and grasp your weights with the palms of your hands facing up, and your arms outstretched to the sides. With your elbows slightly bent, lift your arms above your chest until your hands are almost touching. Return to starting position and repeat.

Exercise 2 - Chest and Shoulders
Lie on your back and grasp your weights with the palms of your hands facing up, and your arms outstretched above your head. Grip your weights and bring them over your head and down to your hips, by your sides - a semi-circular motion. Lift back to starting position and repeat.

Exercise 3 - Chest and Back
Sitting with your back straight (preferably supported) and legs straight out in front of you, hold your weights in at your chest with your elbows out to the side (parallel to the floor). Push your arms out straight in front of you then pull them back in. Repeat.

Exercise 4 - Back and Shoulders
Stand with feet shoulder width apart and arms by your sides, gripping the weights with palms facing outwards. Making sure your movements are slow and concentrated, tense your shoulder and upper back muscles, then slowly "shrug" them up and down.

Exercise 5 - Shoulders and Upper Arms
Stand with feet shoulder width apart and arms raised straight up above your head, grip your weights with your palms facing behind you. Slowly bring your arms forward and down, without bending at the elbow, until level with your shoulders. Lift back to starting position and repeat.

Exercise 6 - Upper Arms, Shoulders and Back
Standing with feet slightly apart, grasp your weights and bend at the waist until your torso is parallel to the floor. Extend your arms towards the floor with palms facing outwards. Lift your arms out to the side, keeping them straight, until parallel to the floor. Return to the starting position and repeat.

Exercise 7 - Upper Arms, Shoulders and Back
Standing with feet slightly apart, position your arms straight down in front of you almost against your body - with your weights almost touching. Bend your elbows and lift your weights towards your chin, bringing your elbows out to the side, in line with your shoulders. Return to the starting position and repeat.

Exercise 8 - Arms and Chest
The classic push up. With your hands shoulder width apart place your palms on the floor. Stretch out your body with either your knees on the floor, or if you're feeling ambitious, your toes - so you are supporting your body weight. Keeping your back straight and using your arms lower yourself gently toward the floor until you are hovering just over it. Push yourself slowly back to your starting position and repeat. Remember - don't lower yourself to the point where you come into contact with the floor, it'll be much harder to push back up.

Exercise 9 - Arms
In a sitting position with your back straight, relax your arms in line with your body. Grip your weights with your palms facing upwards and curl them up towards your shoulders, then back down again. Repeat. Keep your torso still and back straight, let your arms do the work

Exercise 10 - Forearms
Holding your weight with your arm outstretched in front of you, tilt your wrist up and down repeatedly. Try doing this with both an overhand and underhand grip on your weight. Do one arm at a time.

Results
The secret of successful body toning is regularity. If you do this exercise sequence every other day you'll start to see results in a few weeks

Welcome.
And yeh I'm the goalie. I don't play for a team, I just do it for fun. But I get lots of praise for my skills, I'm just not interested in doing it that often.
Although a mate of mine has signed me up for his personal team. We're having a match against another "friend" (Note, the "..").

Well, thanks for the advice Vegeton. Well, as everyone is doing it, i might as well say the sports i am doing: I'm a Taekwondo black belt, and i might go to the Canadian championship next year, i play baseball and a bit of american football with my friends. I'm 6' 2" tall, 162 pounds and 15 years old. I would like to join the club if you mind, by the way.

Does anyone know how much Martial Arts classes cost? Roughly?

Urgent tip!

Never, ever exercise close to bedtime, beacuse chances are, you'll be lying there slepless for any number of hours. I know this beacuse i lookedup why i had such problems with sleeping. It's beacuse it takes some time for the body to become relaxed enough to dose off.

The more you know....

Well mine cost 60$ a month so I would say between 40-80$ for a decent school.

I'm back from two days of going to the gym. the first day i was running around the gym track and on the second day i was weight-lifting. I weight-lift about 90 to 110 pounds. How many do you weight-lift? Also I won't be here on the weekend. More gym time. I'll post later in the day.

Response to The Ng Gym 2005-07-28 14:59:54

Great idea for a club, Nev. I'd have never thought of this.

I'm only a small guy (5'11, 140lbs) and I need a lot more definition. (I'm aiming to get around 160-170lbs) I go to the Gym about 2-3 times a week. I try to do a 'full' workout all over my body. I start with about 30 minutes CV work on the bike (it helps my stamina and my leg muscles.) Then I move into the free- weight area and do Bench Press. I press light weights (40lb) at about 10 sets of five reps.

Then I move to the machines and do Shoulder press, Pec Deck, Triceps, Biceps, Abs crunches and obliques. These all consist of three to five sets of 10 reps at about 85lb (40kg) with the exception of the abs crunches, which is my own bodyweight as the resistance, plus 22lb.

I then retire to the pool, do 30 lengths and relax in the hot-tub to finish the workout.

Any advice?

You should kind try running the treadmill. You just set your speed at running then you raise the speed up to the point where you are going to stop running, then slow down at 20-25 mph then go up at the speed again. The highest speed I have ran on the treadmill is about 70 to 75mph. It is a good exercises to have better leg muslce and lose some pounds of the waist.

If you want strong legs I pefer lots and lots of heavy squats along with the Gazelle Freestyle. The newest one is the best where it has 3 levels of resistance to really build muscle in your legs. It costs roughly 250$.
