Acid XPress (FREE!)

ACID XPress is a music creation tool. Make your own original music with the click of a mouse and a few "painted" strokes. It's easy--just pick some loops, paint them into a track, and play them back. It's the most fun you'll ever have creating music. Any loops you choose work together because ACID XPress matches the tempo and pitch automatically. When you're ready, publish your song on ACIDplanet.com, or stream it from your own Web site.

What would be the closest software to Garageband (but for Windows)?

Reason or FL. Depends on how complex you want it. I would suggest Reason since it's stand alone like Garageband, but FL is less complex and has VST support. All depends on personal preference.

Reaper - FREE

Technically, it's uncrippled and unexpiring shareware. But even so!

This is an audio recorder, sequencer, VST host...all the things FL Studio , Cubase, and Reason do. But for free.
It won "Best Free Sequencer" in Computer Music magazine, and it deserved it. It has the most features out of any other free sequencer I've seen.

If you need help with it, I've written a tutorial to get you started right here.

I need a program called Super Duper Music Looper. the full version.

Its a program for kids 6-10 yrs old. although im pass those ages -_-

the program is easy to use tho. over a hundred loops from 9 types of instruments and sounds.
i've been trying to find the full version but i can only get the demo. Which is limited and has the crappyist sounds ever. I need the full version.

Someone hook me up.

I'm a beginner too audio music making but I have fiddled with garage band at school a couple of times. But what program would you recommend for me? No experience just the will to learn and create.

This Thread is Big. I dunno If I plan on getting a comp Studio or not. My dad nearly fainted when I asked for a Workstation keyboard with an installed multitrack recorder. I'm Trying to get a studio package but theres so many to pick from. I like live recording because you get to do anything you want with your instrument and it gets recorded directly to your comp.

I'm not sure If I'm going off topic but can a multitrack recorder record instrument music beats into a comp and we just wire that into some recording software? And I just want to do this because making music on my Workstation is hard (well, not that hard...), But Still, I just want to add some loops and styles to my music so I'm just wondering.

Dang I make It so hard. If I don't get a reply I'm completely fine you guys.

It's a bit hard to understand what exactly you're after, but I think you're trying to figure out if it's possible to integrate MIDI files and loops in with live audio? If that is your question, then the answer is yes. There are several software options out there that should suit you fine, including FL Studio, Cubase, Sonar, Sony ACID, and Albeton Live. If you think you'll be doing a lot of loop work, you may want to consider getting Albeton, as that is specifically designed to deal with loops and live audio.

OK here are your options for music composing software:
- ACID Studio (Ideal for rock, dnb, and Dance music, it's loop based but has great recording tools plus you get tons of loops right off the bat) - Price $60
- ACID Pro (Upgraded version of ACID studio, does multi-track recording midi sequencing and has some other nice features again good for the same stuff) - Price $375
- Fl Studio (Fruity loops) (Midi based looping software with some really good synths, tends to be geared more toward hip hop but makes good electronic tracks as well) - Price $50-$370
- Cakewalk Kinetic (A studio program by cakewalk, awesome midis, much more orchestral sounding though, Also it's compatible with all of cakewalks awesome plug ins) - Price $80
- Reason (flat out the best music production program out there for just about anything, only problem, the price) - Price $500

Hope this helps
