I wouldn't really be surprised if Wotter's final evo was a Water/Dragon. I see too much Dialga and Salamence in it. I wouldn't be surprised if it was Water/Steel either.

So... anyone want to battle? My FC is 0088 4769 3601.

No way they'd make a starter part dragon, that'd completely nullify the gains of your rival picking their starter pokemon.

not exactly, if grass is the only dragon final form starter, they could make the water starter be part ice in the end of its evolutions, balencing out

But then the water one could use ice beam or similar for 4x, while the fire type would have no (obvious) attacks that could do any damage to the grass pokemon. :\/

At least previous losses by him were considerably close............but TWO UBER LEGENDARIES FROM OUT OF LEFT FIELD!? How the fuck is anybody supposed to buy that?

Anyway, The Three Stooges of Pokemon got promotions, so hell still managed to freeze over. However, it'll probably defrost once Ash loses the Isshu League.............hopefully not to another 2-3 Legendaries, though.

Like I figured, 'Smugleaf's' final evo is a full-blown snake.........fused with a banana. Awesome.

'Banasilisk'?

The Water final evo is......freaky......in a good way.

The Fire evos.........meh, I was expecting something more like a warthog, but it's ended up more like a gorilla-ish thing...... Not feeling it.

There's a discussion regarding the creepypasta, there could be more of these.

Creepy Black is messed up, you can kill people in there.

Jesus Christ I can't stand when folks use Pokesav and input 255 EVs in all stats, then act as if they don't know what you're talking about when you mention it. Damage calculators are like lie detectors in Pokemon. I ain't believing for a second that a shiny Lucario was able to eat a Life Orb Focus Blast from Gengar.

I never knew what 'creepypasta' was until now.............DAMN YOU.

Someone of the 4chan crowd brought this interesting-yet-slightly-creepy read that another guy wrote to the public's attention. The crazy part? IT'S ACTUALLY POSSIBLE.

Seriously, if this '/a/' guy really did do a paper on this, and his teacher didn't give him an 'A+++', I'll find him & beat him senseless with a giant Pikachu plush filled with ball bearings.

Hey, I'm new to the whole EV / IV training shit. I can understand certain natures boost and lower a stat by 10%, to EV you battle a Pokemon which gives out that stat. (I'm training an Adamant Flygon)

I may be totally wrong here, is 255 is the max EV for all stats you can have, but the purpose of EV training is to max out the increased stat dependant on the nature?

What's the best way to calculate IV and EVs? D:

Flygon's stats at the moment stand at

Level 59
HP 184
Atk 166
Def 137
Sp. Atk99
Sp. Def117
Speed 135

Any help is appreciated :)

You can have 255 EVs in each stat, and 510 overall. However, as every 4 EVs gives 1 stat point, you only want to invest 252 into two stats, and then just dump the 4 leftover EVs into something else, usually HP.

You don't always have to max out two stats, of course. You can share it out more. It just gives your more control over your Pokemon's stats, so you can play to their strengths. For example, Gyarados has crap Special Attack, so any EVs in there are a waste. He has much higher Attack, so making sure that's used to it's full potential will give you an edge.

What's the best way to calculate IV and EVs? D:

IVs can't be calculated unless you know your EVs, so it's generally best to calculate as soon as you catch or hatch a Pokemon. The higher the level, the more accurately IVs can be calculated, so the best way is to bring the new Pokemon into a multiplayer Level 100 battle, so it'll be boosted to level 100 for the fight. Write down it's stats, stick them into an IV calculator along with the nature and EVs (if it's new, it should have none), and it'll give you them.

EVs, you can work out if you already know your IVs, using the same calculators, but it's a bit pointless since you're going to change them anyway.

Atk 166
Def 137

What you'll have to do since he's already trained is get those berries that remove EVs. You'll need a 6 of each. Eating one berry reduces the EV in that stat to 100, and every berry after that reduces it by 10.

Once you've reset his EVs to 0, you can retrain him, making sure to only get the EVs you want.

You can also work out his IVs at this point too if you want, but it doesn't matter since they can't be changed, they're set when it's caught or hatched.

I see, so say, Attack was maxed out at 255, the rest would have to spread to equal 510? Okay, I think I'm getting it :).

Also, by "every 4 EV's", do you mean the Effort Points given, listed on here? So, battling 4 Nidorinos, then levelling up, will give you 8 Attack EV's, therefore a boosted 2 stat points for Atk?

Apologies for all the amateur questions, it's confusing the first time round, haha.

IVs can't be calculated unless you know your EVs, so it's generally best to calculate as soon as you catch or hatch a Pokemon. Ah. The multiplayer battle is a good idea. Am I right in saying the boosted level will give you it's base power and the calculator will lemme know what it's full potential is?

Ah, that's annoying. I brought the Trapinch caught from Sapphire at Level 20, fed it 10 Proteins, migrated and have been battling 90% Nidorino/as until it reached Level 60 for Atk EV's. Would it be more beneficial to hatch a new Trapinch and retrain him up again, or clear all the IV's when I'm already at Level 60?

Again, so sorry for all the questions and being generally amateurish at EV/IVing. You've been a huge help :)

Basically, you have 510 effort points to spend, but can only put 255 into one stat.

Also, by "every 4 EV's", do you mean the Effort Points given, listed on here? So, battling 4 Nidorinos, then levelling up, will give you 8 Attack EV's, therefore a boosted 2 stat points for Atk?

Exactly. However, that 2 extra attack points at level 100. Say you have 200 Attack EVs. That's 50 extra attack points at level 100. You'll have EXTRA attack at lower levels, but won't see the full 50 until you're at 100. Since competitive battling is done in Level 100 Single matches anyway, this doesn't matter. As long as you have all your EVs you'll have full stats during the battle.

Ah. The multiplayer battle is a good idea. Am I right in saying the boosted level will give you it's base power and the calculator will lemme know what it's full potential is?

If you take an untrained Pokemon into the battle, it will show you it's stats at level 100 if it had no EVs. As base stats for Pokemon are known, you can calulate IVs from this. Say a Pokemon has a base attack of 100, and yours has 114, it must have 14 attack IVs, as each one gives 1 stat point (again, at level 100). This is how the calculators work it out, but you don't have to worry about it. Just slap the numbers in and it'll give you your IVs. You can then decided if these IVs are good enough, and then start training. If not, breed another and try again.

What I'd do is just clear his EVs, and then check his IVs. You can't clear IVs, they're set at the point of capture/hatching and can't be changed at all. Find out what they are by getting his EVs back to 0, and then use a calculator to check them. If they're good, EV train again, if not, breed a new one.

There's also Arceus w/ the correct Plate attached. But as far as ACTUAL pure-Flying types, this is indeed the first one.

As for the rest of the info:

- There's supposedly 156 newbies total, which would make 649. In other words, the most new Pokemon ever added in one generation.

- The 'Dragonite line of Gen 5' looks to be Dark/Dragon.Not the best offensive pairing, but one hell of a defensive pairing.

- The supposed Trio are all dual-typed Fighting (Steel, Rock, and Grass).

- The Event ones are to be Water/Fighting, Normal/Psychic, and Bug/Steel. Not original, but interesting enough.

- There are also Electric/Flying, Ground/Flying, and Ice/Dragon Legendaries.

So, basically, any hopes of fewer Legendaries......well, were shat on. Here's hoping they don't suck.

Alright guys, I got some good news and bad news.

The bad news is, the supposed rumor of the starters being pure Grass, Fire/Fighting, and pure Water are true.

The good news is, the supposed starter evolutions are real. There are lots of new pictures from the latest CoroCoro magazine on Serebii.

Response to Tanooki_John's Pro-pokemon club 2010-09-11 15:45:04

WHAT THE SHIT!? C'mon, GF, you could've easily made the oinker Fire/Ground, but no, you have to keep this going for one more gen, didn't you?

Furthermore, the new catmon looks way to similar to Glameow. At least its typing is different, but still, they could've at least done its color scheme differently.

Some of the other designs are cool enough, though. Love to have that Electric spider.

So you didn't see that the Pokemon could possibly be Fire/Dark? Or Fire/Ground? I don't really see how that fat guinea had features of some sort of boxer, martial arts warrior, or a body builder. I could argue that every Pokemon in the game should have a Fighting type, since they are supposed to fight.

That and they're finally giving players an option of using kanji in the text.
This ought to clarify things a bit; I remember when I was playing through Japanese Platinum and I had reached the part where that one Team Galactic member planted a bomb near the Great Marsh, I translated the text wrong and thought he was just talking about a slip of the tongue. (The Japanese name for the Great Marsh is "Daishitsugen" and "shitsugen" means both marsh and slip of the tongue, depending on the kanji used.)
Also according to Play-Asia, Black and White are available for purchase starting on the 18th. Unfortunately, I don't know what "DSi Enhanced" means, so that may mean it's unplayable to anyone outside of Japan. Fucking racism *cries*

Haha, just had the best Elite Four victory I've ever had there.

Got down to Lance's last Dragonite, which could one-shot basically anything on my team, apart from Magneton. Paralysed it with Magneton, brought in Venusaur, fired off a Leech Seed before dying, brought Magneton back in, and spammed Flash as Dragonite launched one missing Dragon Rush after another. 3 Full Restores later, and Leech Seed finally finished draining him.
