That's what I'm going to do in 2 hours. Right now I'm preparing for the eighth gym. I also read if you say gotcha in the ds mic you have a 25% better chance of catching the pokemon. It's pretty gay but it works, trust me, I tried it. The only thing I don't like about the game is "Pal" Park, "Pal" Pad, and "Friend" Code. Okay the Friend Code isn't that bad but those things sound like something out of Teletubbies. Other than that the game is great.

even if i were to give vitamins to a stat thats being hinder nature is more important. i will end up having a more powerful pokemon if it has the right nature and i also used vitamins.

This video shows how the difference that EV training and nature affects pokemon. The guy who won defeated someone whose team has many legendaries but because he didn't know much about effort points and IV's he was defeated.

I would try to keep it simple. Lets say you lvl 1 charmander fights 4 rattatas and then he levels up. his stats increases as follow
atk:2
def:1
speed:1
special atk: 1
special def:1
Hp:1

now lets say you turned off the game and leveled up the same charmander but this time you fought 4 metapods instead of 4 rattats he then levels up but his gains stats are this now.

atk:1
def: 2
speed:1
special atk: 1
special def:1
Hp:1

Do you see it now. Fighting different Pokemons affect the stats they gain. more info
