If only my actionscripting was good enough to produce 3 in 3 days. Havn't made 1 yet!
*goes to read tutorials*

Good job, the AS Main is a great resource, if only people would go here before submiting AS questions.

I think inglor might have to catch it this time.. I'm really busy right now with stuff : (

I also don't have the source html, which means I have to copy and paste the old html and fix all the entities and take out the <br>'s, as well as add five new tutorials and decide which sections they go in. In other words a pain in the ass I can't mess with at the moment.

Just hold tight and stop posting please, thanks :)

You know how in some dress-up games there are reset buttons that make everything go back to its original place? Well i would really appreciate it if an AS tutorial was made for that. Thanks.

At 11/15/05 09:32 PM, KungFuCow wrote: Yes, but I really need to know the code though. Anyone here that's not too lazy that could post an AS for resetting dragable movieclips?

Haven't touched AS for 2 weeks so I'm a bit rusty, but try this
On each of your MCs, add this code

onClipEvent(load){
rX=_x;
rY=_y;
}

Then on your button

on(press){
_root.mcInstanceName1._x= _root.mcInstanceName1.rX;
_root.mcInstanceName1._y= _root.mcInstanceName1.rY;
}

You could make your life easier by InstanceNaming your MCs consecutively eg mc1, mc2, mc3... mc50, because you could then use a for loop on the RESET button

on(press){
for(i=1;i<51;i++){
_root["mc"+i]._x= _root["mc"+i].rX;
_root["mc"+i]._y= _root["mc"+i].rY;
}
}

there is another way to do it, by using a pair of arrays to hold your initial MC positions - and looping through the array to reset - but I can't be bothered explaining that, have a look at AS: Arrays if that appeals to you.

Response to As: Main 2005-11-16 06:02:06

Hi i was wondering if anyone can help me by making a tutorial for some code.
I would like to have a code that i can use to detect kepress movements, set them as a variable so that i can use it to assign them to the current movement controls.

Basicly i would like to make a customisable option for the controls for my game.

If anyone can help me with that i it would be apprechiated.

Thanks

James

Guys... if your problem is an individual one, then please create a new topic about it, rather than posting in here. Only post suggestions for tutorials in AS: Main if you think that having such a tutorial would be useful to many other people besides yourself.

Heh. Nice try, but I win =)

Besides, it would be hard for me to update it on your domain. I appreciate the effort though.

I'm going to reorganise the lists a bit now that I have more space to move in, but that can wait for a bit.
