I Just got 'London Bridges' by James Patterson

and i got 'Big Bad Wolf' by James Patterson (i think its called that) anyway, they are a two part series apart of like a 12 part series lol. I Love James Patterson.. he is the king of Mystery Thriller and Suspence.

Response to The Book Club 2004-11-15 22:09:45

If your a fan of James Patterson... lets discuss his books. I love'em. However, no one here seems to read his novel.s
Of course i love the classics as well (exspecially Thomas Hardy), but... James Patterson is like the top notch novelist for the past few years.

Any fans?

Never really got round to reading some other genres aside from sci-fi / fantasy until that resource has been exhausted.

Gods, how shallow am I?

Salmon of Dounht? I read it, it's not really worth it. It's mostly for hardcore Adams fans.

Yeah, but its still good. i found it last night and read a few stories, man that D Adams hada twisted brain. Did you get your user name from H2G2 ????

Try getting American Gods by Neil Gaiman. A guy gets out of prison, meets Odin, and gets caught up in his plan to wage war on the new gods.

Sounds good, i might check that out.

I made plans to listen to that tonight. I first heard it years ago as a kid and it blew me away, its definetly in my faves.

Why dont you tryawar novel, some of them are amazingly accurateand filled with true short stories from troops around the world that fought in the major battles of our history and yet have different views on th big events.

BTW Ive found a copy of nostradamus prophecies in my house........and I havbe no idea where it came from. I had a quick flick and it seems to be made by followers of Nostradamus trying to say that notradamus is right.......anyone got a book like this and is it worth reading or should I just send it to the local chairty shop?

Response to The Book Club 2004-11-16 12:20:54

Why not try just getting a random book?
Out of the blue just walk into a shop/Library and take one and read it.

Response to The Book Club 2004-11-16 12:34:14

Well Fox, due to me being interested in things like that i would read the prophecies straightaway, but if your not interested, dont read it you wont enjoy.

I suggest reading Bravo 2 Zero by Andy McNab, its not amazing, but it is based on a true story of the best of brittish SAS on a mission in Iraq, its very detailed, and very funny in parts.

Response to The Book Club 2004-11-16 14:58:09

Fox... if you like susepnce thrillers and what not. I say James Patterson. But i am biased.
If you want a classic... Jude the Obscure by, Thomas Hardy... def i nmy top 3 of all time greatest reads.

James Patterson's characters are kinf of linked and part of a series, but you can pretty much pick it up anywhere and not get too confused. his books are more about the mystery and suspence rather then the development of his characters. So dont worry if you dont want to start with the first.
However, if you do want to start from the beginning. 'Along Came a Spider' is the first of the Alex Cross series. '1st to Die' is the beginning of the Woman's Murder Club series.
I like Cross betta. And yes, the movie is based on the book. However, they frigged it up nicely. The movie went way off base comp[ared to the book. I dont want to say how, cuz it would spoil the books ending.

Either tat or some of the SAS novels by Chris Ryan. Since they're both ex-22 regiment, they can give quite a good description of the goings on in the world's most elite regiment.

This is the same post I sent into the writers guild about my book:

Here is a bit of the first chapter of my book The Runes Of Courage:Ovmit's tale (It is sort of in the middle dont want to bore you with the first few bits)"What are these gran-dad?" asked Fiona
"I cannot speak the real names of these stones but lets just call them The Runes Of Courage for now"
"Why cant you say there real names?" Gabriel said "Because if I do I will of cast a spell on the both of you and you will have to do something very dangerous to get back to the real world, but it wont affect me.Good night you two!" and walks out the room.

So what do you think about that little extract?

Response to The Book Club 2004-11-17 17:21:48

I think most movies from books are shite, even Lord of the Rings, despite it being a masterpeice in its own right, i could put down a few things PJ missed out on.

Yeah coop, Ryan is also a good writer, i do recomend his books aswell.

That exert is far to small to geta decent evaluation from, post a chapter or a paragraph.

To do the Rings justice, they would have to make about 10 films, just to get all the details in. It still wouldn't work though, because you can never do justice to Tolkien's marvellous descriptions.

I second that motion. I need to know more about this stuff, rather than just a few sentences.

I've tried RPing over the net before. It doesn't work as well as I want it to, so I'm gonna give it a miss. It doesn't work on BBS format

The only success I've had is on MSN Messenger. A 6-way game, which all parties enjoyed.

Sorry.

Current Reading update: I'm ploughing through Men at Arms (still) but I've got to the best bits now. It's up to where Carrot has taken the Citizen's militia to the watch house and started to investigate properly.

Ah yes finished 'The Hogfather' by Terry Pratchett and now ive got a new one it is called 'The Light Fantastic' which I think many of you have heard of.I would like some opinions here so is it good, bad,ok?

Thanks.

Response to The Book Club 2004-11-19 15:59:42

Light Fantastic is a gret book, but only if you've read 'The Colour of Magic' first. otherwise, you won't understand the plot much.

Finished reading Men at Arms and I'm now on to Soul Music. (That shouldn't take me too long.)
