Granted, but my standard isue 'Will wantz this 4 crimbo list' went out to the relevant relatives and I was sure to delete any item off the list, as soon as it was declared (I care not for secrets) and yet I am still recieving two (2) copies of Monstrous Regiment, when a copy of the Darwin Awards 2 or 3 would have done adequately.

Has anyone ever heard of a series of books called Necroscope? Theres about 16/17 books in all and centres around the Wamphyri (vampires), a parasitic race from an alternate dimension. May sound a bit silly, but every single book is a bloody good read. Anyone heard of em?

Response to The Book Club 2004-12-09 10:45:12

Tell me who the author is. I feel that I am hooked already. I need to diversify my reading material a bit, and this sound like a nice track to follow.

DO NOT waste your money on this foul creation. Turn away from the light! spend your money on better quality wargames like DBA, DBM and the like. I used to be a Games Workshopper, but after spending THOUSANDS of pounds on models which fall apart as soon as i look at them, which I thought I could paint to a decent standard, but could not. I found my group of friends, who play D&D and other RPGs on a Sunday afternoon in Kidderminster, thus solving all my problems, by giving my imagination somewhere to run of a weekend.

D&D may have a huge ammount of books available, but at least they don't keep launching new editions of the game every year or two. (D&D is 30 years old and is only on it's third edition.)

You may be saved yet, LordSkeletor, you may be saved.

Response to The Book Club 2004-12-09 16:04:05

Well, I'm telling you as the voice of experience not to. Once it has it's hold, it will seldom let go. That's why I don't play LotR, because GW got their filthy little mits on it.

I treally isnt worht even trying it out. Unless you like to memorise loads of rules then dont bother.

Response to The Book Club 2004-12-09 16:09:19

Memorising load of rules is easy. That's D&D. Memorising loads of rules whan they change every year or so is difficult and is so GW.

You know when you've been Games Workshopped. There is a cold breeze around your wallet and you are weighed down by a shopping bag full of lead.

Alchemists tried for years, but GW cracked it. They can turn lead into gold!

you dont really need to memorise rules for DnD. the only people that go actually go through the PHB memorisisng all the rules are rules lawyers all you need to remember to play DnD is the basics and then let the Dm worry about the rest :P

Rofl. Wonder if they worked out how to make the philosophers stone yet?

Response to The Book Club 2004-12-09 16:19:52

I am the DM, so I have to worry about everything. Most of the basics, I have covered, but I need to fall back on the books from time to time, for monsters, special rules and the occasional bluff, to keep the PCs guessing.

Hey skeletor.. as you saw i posted in WOR about the issue.

I cannot really do anything about it if people do not listen but advise all to ignore them.. or start it over in C&C and state a rule saying that anyone out of era is not welcome... not sure.
Anyway, i was getting aggrivated also, plus i do not want to lose your Rping abilities or support, so hopefully that makes amends with the matter for now.

Response to The Book Club 2004-12-09 18:08:33

ya trust me.....it isnt even the thing like I don't like that type of book. I loved LOTR which it was compared to. Eragon is just trying way to hard to make everything sound so "important/mythical" with names you can get 1000 pronounciations from and a plot thats over done and even if it was would suck.

But there are people that I know that like it so just check it from the library or something.

Response to The Book Club 2004-12-10 06:50:32

Okay. Don't disrespect LotR parodies. My work (Available to read in the Writer's Guild) is sort of a cross breed of LotR and Discworld. I need more time to flesh it out, but it will get there in the end.

Thanks for the warning about it, anyhow.
