Neither. And I don't do it for fun or money, either. It's more like... a religious reason, a divine urge to make a magnum opus? It has to have a "purpose" to it or I won't bother. (Even trolling/annoying people with "shitpost art" counts as a purpose, but that be a sideshow to the main course)
For decades I found myself extremely isolated from art communities because of this. I don't understand the other reasons to make art at all, and nobody understands my reasoning. I've had people figuratively spit on my work and say that "I don't care about it" or call me an asshole/that I think I'm "special", or that I wasn't worth even a dollar (when I never offered commissions) just because I said I didn't do it for fun and/or as a hobby.
It is unreal how much shit you'll get when you don't do something for a popular reason. Or maybe there are more people who do it for the same reason as I do than I think. But I don't even know what the "genre" is called, if any, so I can't go looking for such artists even if I wanted to.
