My favorite one is maybe bitcrush, not because it makes my songs sound good but because it makes them sound intentionally bad lol
Ah yes and reverb (which I know is kind of obvious but whatever) because it can really increase the emotional impact of a song.
Bitcrush and reverb (mostly because of that one reverb fart sfx that is gold)
Usually compression and saturation plugins. Makes it sound like you recorded via tape. Many times though I usually never use many plugins except for EQs and such on my projects
Best utility effect: Multi-band compressor/dynamic EQ. Combining the functions of a compressor and EQ into one effect is cool enough, but the real utility is being able to individually compress and/or expand specific frequency ranges which is essential for both mixing and mastering. Aggressive type MBCs like OTT and Cramit can also be used simply as a gain booster and clipping limiter which is great for pushing drums forward in the mix.
Most adaptable effect: Reverb. Obvious choice for adding any amount of space, big or small, to any sound. My favorite type of reverb overall is probably the most basic digital type, but I'm also partial to convolution reverbs, shimmer reverbs and physically modelled reverbs.
Most underrated utility effect: Sample delay. Basically a 100% wet stereo delay with no feedback so that it does not make repeats, but simply delays the left and right dry signal by a given (usually small) amount to create stereo seperation. This is especially useful for mono recordings such as vocals or guitars that you want to make wider or fatter. This accomplishes more or less the same thing as duplicating a mono take across 2 channels, splitting them left and right and moving one of the two audio regions slightly apart. But in effect form you can do that on one channel with much finer control of the left and right separation.
Best effect for sound design or mangling: Frequency shifter, but a granulizer is a close second. Both are especially useful for creating otherwordly effects from any audio source and especially with automation of the parameters.
I think it's Reverb, Spacer and Spreader.

I think that's better known as the Haas effect. It's a cool effect

One thing I also use it for is actually drums, especially drum samples from old drum machines which are usually in mono. Works great to make snares and claps wider, but I also use it for hihats and high percussion with a longer delay between left and right and sometimes weighed either to the left or right as an alternative or supllement to panning.

I don’t have a favorite, but I have access to a lot… I guess maybe Phaser is my favorite, but I also like
Flanger
Reverb
Chorus
ParamEQ
Panner
Compressor
Multibandcompressor
Filter
Comb Filter
Delay
Vox
GraphicEQ
High pass
low pass
Distortion
Bitcrush
Leveller
Limiter
And FM

Honestly, I don't know why more people don't talk about it over stuff like Supermassive or Vintage. It's a Traditional, Granular, and Spacial Verb / Delay in a single plugin...and it's literally free. It does everything all of the Valhalla plugins do in just as clear fidelity for like, 100% cheaper.
Ok! What does a spacer do? I have that as well, and I’m curious, what does it do

It's basically a 100$+ reverb / delay plugin that has thousands of different granular and modulation possibilities, a randomize settings options, hundreds of presets, and the company that produced it no longer exist so they dropped it's price to 0$. It's one of the industry top effects plugins and it's free. People don't fuck with it anymore cause they think free means bad.

That’s all I got in my budget 💀
Funny how I misinterpeted the question at first thinking it means self-created effects or atmosphere given' or something, like how I like the waterwheel creaking sound and have made it (customly) for a few tracks to make them more relaxing (like the petalcore thing apparently)
I actually never use any plug in effect, I literally turn everything off. Sure I have used the reverb plug in but believe it or not tend to only use it in the 2d setting (the room/space thing of it), not the actual reverb of it because I always dislike the melting together of instruments by it. I prefer clear and distinct instrumentation (which is why I enjoy composing chiptune aswell).
edit: oh and yeah I do like the panning of instruments manually aswell (saw someone else mention it)
