....except for the obvious, essential stuff (like eq)

My favorite one is maybe bitcrush, not because it makes my songs sound good but because it makes them sound intentionally bad lol

Ah yes and reverb (which I know is kind of obvious but whatever) because it can really increase the emotional impact of a song.

I can’t narrow it down to just one!!! How about two… my favorite basic effects are probably just soft-clipping distortion and good ole fashioned REVERB. One adds that gritty texture I have in a lot of my tracks, and the other is the ultimate atmosphere creator, ofc.

I think I've lost my mind and I love it

Good choices. Soft clipping can sound really cool, i agree

If I can't pick an eq or filter... maybe an impulse response loader? There's a lot of utility there, or if that doesn't count as an effect... I'll say Vibrato, as in pitch modulation.

The old album isn’t much like the new one, it’s just a bunch of my older tracks that I liked. The new album is a huge shift in my sound, and a style that I think truly represents me! I’ll have some new music out soon. I’d say of all of them, “when I don’t have the words” is closest to the new style.

Thank you!

Recently, Pancz on the drum bus. Longer standing favorite is definitely Supermassive for delay/reverb, sooo much flavor.

It made more sense in my head.

Spacer... https://spectral-plugins.com/products/spacer?srsltid=AfmBOoqd5oPuyE0oePsQaUb-vuTKNRSuQY1o9Be3aN53TDNOpix2t-tg

Honestly, I don't know why more people don't talk about it over stuff like Supermassive or Vintage. It's a Traditional, Granular, and Spacial Verb / Delay in a single plugin...and it's literally free. It does everything all of the Valhalla plugins do in just as clear fidelity for like, 100% cheaper.

I admit that Spacer is more powerful/capable than Supermassive, but for me, Supermassive is simply easier to use, and so I use it more.

Probably Ping-Pong Echo. I've used it for one of my songs before and it adds in an extra note on a different channel without you having to lift a finger.

Currently working on a cartoon this summer. Stay tuned I guess. Heh.

I love any creative way of voice distortion, especially if it adds some cryptic alien vibes, like The Master's one from Fallout or the voices of SHODAN and Xerxes from System Shock 2

I think it sounds cool really

I have stolen your Fleetwood Mac 45s how does that sound

this one's a bit broad, but anything fft/spectral really. noise reduction/spectral gate, spectral compression, spectral audio editing, the list goes on...

an exemplar application of the fft in music (done using metasynth)

it's practically a shortcut to making weird, alien sounds, which is of course right up my alley. the musical application of the fft is also newer compared to the other audio effects, so there's still much uncharted territory.

Kjaerhus Classic Delay has been my favorite for this for 20 years.

More recently, I like bitcrush and resampling FX. Cymatics Origin is my go to for that.

Gated reverb for that 80s drum sound. Now if only I was better at using it...
