Dude, how is this design "too simplistic?" Your design to me has both the right balance of simplicity and complexity at the same time. Looks cool man!

Hi! 😊

I wouldn't call that design simple, in fact it's actually quite complicated! Honestly when it comes to animation, the notion of simplexity has always seemed right to me. Your character should have a silhouette that is immediately recognizable, but shouldn't have too many design aspects that they're difficult to animate with!

Your designs aren't overly simple in the sense where they are stick figures. There's enough complexity in the design to make it worth animating.

And that's the thing I'm sure has already been pointed out because when it comes to animation, simplicity in the designs are actually a good thing.

What I don't think has been mentioned that if you make the design too complex, no sane animator will like you unless you have the insanity that Akira Toriyama had or happen to be a 3D animator. Case in point:

No one wants to deal with an overly complex design and even in illustration or comic book making it's a massive pain in the fucking ass. More so with animating because now you're getting all those specific little details moving and you have to think EXACTLY HOW THOSE DETAILS MOVE IN 3D ON A 2D PLANE.

And who really in the right mind wants that?

Having a simple design is fine as long as it is unique and not too flashy.
