Since Warner Bros Games have shut down Monolith Productions?

And do you feel that Warner Bros will shut down their game division going forward?

I didn't even know there was a WW game in development. I've seen no gameplay and I'm not familiar in the slightest with Monolith Productions. Even if it did get finished I've become so fatigued from capeshit that I couldn't see myself ever picking it up.

Also I had to double check that it wasn't the Xenoblade guys getting shutdown lmfao

Fuck you give me money!

It's all explained right in this video.

$100 million dollars were allegedly put into a game that was in development for at least 4 years but there's no gameplay footage, no plot synopsis, not even a single screenshot... All they had to show for 4 years and $100 million was a few seconds of Wonder Woman slowly leaping into action?

Until we see something from the cutting room floor get leaked I'm just gonna call bullshit. WB's cancelled a few movies for the tax writeoff and I think they may have discovered that they can pull this same trick in their video games department too.

Yeah I agree with this last point here. Considering all the bullshit WB has been pulling with canceling movies before they are even released it's definitely some tax write off tomfuckery, very upsetting that stuff like this happens despite the effort and money people put into projects like these. I hope WB gets their shit for their scummy bullcrap and stops getting away with stuff like this. There are so many projects at this point that will never be given the light of day despite how much money and talent was already poured into it

Knowing that they also shut both Player's First Games and WB San Diego, who knows if the rest of WB game divisions will make it to the rest of the 2020s

Probably not a tax writeoff. Probably just old fashioned incompetence and poor management.

Besides, who knows how many games were unceremoniously cancelled over the years? The Wonder Woman game would have quietly been cancelled like the Dark Knight tie-in game years ago, except it got an announcement trailer and people got hyped.

That was news to me that WW even had a game in development, although I would've imagined that the interest was pretty low. I can't tell whether it's due to incompetence or WB's usual tax write off shenanigans, though that is irrelevant to me.

Just stop worrying, and love the bomb.

It really sucks because the studio shut down alongside the game was the one that made the Shadow of Mordor games, which were fun. I think they caught a stray after the live-service games flopped and WB got sheepish.

I didn't know about the game at all before it got shitcanned, but Monolith getting shut down was sad to see.

he/they - pretty cool guy

there was a wonder woman game being made?

Yeah, I think that Warner will eventually reduce the size of their game division, but to pull the plug forever I think not. They spent too much money chasing the live service game fairytale to just give up at this point and I think they will die trying. Which is a shame, since their older games had cool stuff and stories. Like, I really enjoyed batman asylum and batman city for it's combat and whole narrative and puzzles, and the nemesis system for shadows of mordor that they patented so no one else could make a game with such a cool mechanic and this will be buried in their ip's coffin and forgotten.

the X-Men Origins Wolverine game more then make up for the movie which felt a little weak. Had fun leaping around stabbing enemies.

Have no clue to judge as I have yet to play Themyscira's champion game which may be long overdue. I would like to try out invisible jet and fighting with a lasso. All we got is a teaser, not even footage. Many of us are skeptic as movie/tv series tie in games most often are bad.

Wonder Woman was never really the greatest IP to begin with. By today's standards, the source material was never particularly creative, alot of the "assets" they used for the plot were public domain, not original at all, the same story very well could've been told b4, in ancient Greece. So, it's no loss, Warner Bros saved themselves a lot of money if they cancelled that game.

Can't really get mad when I didn't know it was in development. It's a shame tho...

I was really excited for something new, especially since I bought suicide squad kill the justice league.

At 2/27/25 08:56 AM, what I meant was I was excited for the game and sad when it came out as canceled

Like that Wolverine game by insomniac that was leaked a year ago or two

And that not even getting to the fact they hogged the Nemesis System that will would be used until at least 2035

You didn't see the game awards trailer that was released

So what do you think about the studios that made two shadows of Mordor games shutting down since they were going to make the canceled wonder woman game?

shame enough that the Nemesis system will never be use

It's a shame, I heard good things about those games, but never played them. Obviously, there will be people who are upset about Monolith's closure too, and perhaps, that Wonder woman game could have been good, if the Dev's had the right attitude when going about making it, but knowing what I know about that IP, I'd say it probably shouldn't have been the studio's swansong.

I completely forgot that was even in development, but I feel like it was greenlit in a different era. These games are taking so long to be made that the games they're responding to (spiderman PS4 and.. avengers maybe??) are now over 5 years old.

Genuinely couldn't have cared less tbh

Sad about the lost jobs and a legendary studio though, hope everyone gets back on their feet soon

Thats the sort of crap that stiffles creativity. Calling dibs on such an idea for over a decade and just sitting on it. honestly, that pisses me off

No hard feelings (outside of my pants).

what a waste of potential honestly, i dont understand why they cancelled it. i sadly dont know much about wonder woman lore or villains, and i think this game could make many people be more intrested in the character. i honestly hope someone can save the files and save it =(

i also forgot, the java version haas only 300 health points, while bedrock is 600 health points

It’s really a shame that Monolith as a whole got shut down cause the LOTR games that they made were actually pretty decent

but let’s be honest the WW game was going to be pretty mediocre anyways just look at the past DC games that we’ve got
