It's just occurred to me now that Minecraft Beta was a Windows 7 era game, and that was long before it got bought out/changed developers. I don't know if OP would like playing an old version of Minecraft but I just wanted to say it. Actually if Windows 7 came out in 2009, then officially the era was connected to Alpha and even older versions. Wow!

Image is from 2011.

I do have this thing called "ClassiCube" on the computer. Its similar to that version of minecraft you can play in your browser. Its only creative mode, so I'll look for launchers that can run on older devices.

With all my conviction and belief: I recommend Betacraft 1.09. (I couldn't find proof that it's incompatible with Windows 7.) Not the 2.0 version, which I can't stand. Betacraft is good at listing and running lots of old, obscure, often neglected versions with sound and skin support.

I think it can be a bit of trouble with filesystems and bugs that come from it sometimes, but if you're handy with filesystem path shit and are cool with manipulating strings of text you can fix those issues, and after that point I find it to be a much more convenient alternative to MultiMC. MultiMC confuses me. Betacraft also has a pretty leet collection of easy to quickly install history "revision" mods. After some annoying finagling I even figured out how to make it run a Beta mod of my own creation, one that has not been uploaded anywhere.

Seriously love the Miestas zeitgeist....
