I have this windows 7 laptop that I'm going to use for some games, cuz I like shit like that :p

I do have some games installed on there already, but I need more to play than just freedoom, solitare, and touhou 7! Recommend me some good games from the windows 7 era (mid 2000's-early 2010's). I'll send some pics and the specs later.

Jade Empire

F.E.A.R.

Far Cry

Doom 3

Left for dead 2

Oblivion

If you pick one I'd recommend Jade Empire the most, because it's a hidden gem arpg with a great story. Might as well try the enhanced special edition for PC only.

Temple of Elemental Evil is one of my favorites. It's a DnD game, very strict to the ruleset, based on one of the most well known adventures written by Gary Gygax. It takes a relatively linear dungeon crawl and makes it very deep by having a hundred different ways to go about it. Join the evil guys and do their quests instead? Sure! It's a lot more involved than just a dialog option.

Knights of the Old Republic 1 and 2 are Star Wars RPGs that use DnD rules for some reason and have very well written stories, especially the second.

If you can get your hands on a copy of Magic the Gathering: Battlegrounds, you won't regret it. It's a totally forgotten about action/strategy game (very) loosely based on the card game. You fight in an arena and cast your spells, summoning monsters, casting support or attack spells, etc. There are 5 elements and you can only choose two. Choosing one has its own advantages.

Impossible Creatures is a Real-Time-Strategy where you use the power of science fiction to raise an army of chimeras. A lion with gorilla arms? Sure! But the real meta is chimpanzees with giraffe heads. don't ask me why, It Just Works.

This is a good era for games so you can make it work

Sid Meier's Civilization IV might be a great pick for your Windows 7.

Other than that, you could upgrade to Windows 10 for free and run all the Steam classics.

To me, 2018 and below until mid 2000's. As I consider Windows Vista as proto-Windows 7, but worse. I admitly skipped Windows 8 as it was just bad. Windows 10 is absolute garbage.

Blockstorm if got some palls to bring to play a now free title. As to me it is the game I associate my experience with Windows 7 with the most...

Megaman Legacy Collection 1, Blockstorm, Call of Juarez: Gunslinger, and Borderlands 2 and prequel...

Blockstorm can run on any machine. Windows 7, 8, 10, Linux, or Mac... It is the perfect FPS game. Total customizability.

@Painbringer and @BlakeyTakeyTheCakey, I'll respond to both of you. Windows 64 bit is strongly backwards compatible with 32 bit programs that even were written for windows 95 (With limitations), you in theory could play any game that's 15-30 years old and not 16 bit. That doesn't mean it's perfect, but windows even for 11 strives hard to keep programs written for an older version still running. Some windows 95/98 games might have to be extracted or installed differently because even if it's a 32 bit game, it used an installer that was 16 bit. So YMMV.

windows 7 has major security flaws, so worth to note for online use.

Also, I'd recommend setting up a PS2 emulator on the device. Lots of solid games of that era, and essentially most reached abandonware, though they good.

Indigo Prophecy, Baroque, Beyond Good and Evil. Many others too

There was a Shrek game my brother and I used to play on windows 7. I have no idea if ts was official though

I remember Lego Rock Raiders, though the versions that are playable today might not be Win7 compatible.

Might try Freespace 2.

Umm, Medieval 2 Total War?

Star Wars: Empire at War? -though I think I burnt up my Vista playing that one.

Might try looking for some emulators. I seem to recall my friends downloaded those back in the day when we weren't on Runescape.

You forgot Insaniquarium! That is a game I think of as one of the best for casuals during that time.

You've all heard of Minesweeper for Windows 7, but have you heard of MineCRAFT for Windows 7? It's just occurred to me now that Minecraft Beta was a Windows 7 era game, and that was long before it got bought out/changed developers. I don't know if OP would like playing an old version of Minecraft but I just wanted to say it. Actually if Windows 7 came out in 2009, then officially the era was connected to Alpha and even older versions. Wow!

I do have this thing called "ClassiCube" on the computer. Its similar to that version of minecraft you can play in your browser. Its only creative mode, so I'll look for launchers that can run on older devices.
