Dinnerbone has published a blog post highlighting ongoing progress with Ruffle!
Newgrounds has been using Ruffle to run Flash content in the browser ever since Flash was removed from browsers at the end of 2020.
Ruffle was originally created by @Mike but is now maintained by a dedicated and brilliant team of developers. Please consider sponsoring Ruffle if you’re a fan of Flash preservation and open source projects.
If you’d like to help test games with Ruffle, check out the Ruffle Testing / Flash Preservation Crew.
We also host an annual Flash Forward Jam, encouraging people to make new games and interactive movies with Flash. Flash Forward 2025 will kick off early next year and has the potential to be great, as Ruffle has come a long way this year!
We’ve been switching over more and more classic Flash games to run via Ruffle. Here are a few I’ve enjoyed recently:
Expect Ruffle performance to keep improving in the months ahead and thank you everyone who continues to work on Ruffle and help with Flash preservation efforts!
FNF - Playable Pico
The latest Friday Night Funkin’ update went live last night, with playable Pico! Press TAB on the level select screen to change your character.
If you like the FNF wall art, @KornArt3 posted a standalone version in the Art Portal:
Brazil Day Art Contest
The Brazil Day Art Contest is now in progress, with a deadline of October 13th! The theme of this contest is to illustrate a Brazilian variant of any character you want, in the spirit of the Brazilian Miku trend, which got a recent boost from this piece by @MitsuTan:
Sketch Collab 2024
Sign ups for Sketch Collab 2024 have opened! Check out previous Sketch Collabs to see what they're like:
Dreamcast Collab
The Dreamcast Collab is out and it’s massive, with 313 artists involved! It’s so big, we had to finally start cropping the credits box by default. We’ll be doing more work in that space later.
Monthly Voting
Our new Monthly Voting System launched last weekend and if you received an invite from P-Bot, today is the last day to rank your favorites for the Best of August.
We also introduced monthly trophies and made them retroactive, going back to the first monthly awards in 2005!
If nothing breaks, expect the Best of August to be announced tomorrow.
The tentative surprise movie has been postponed to next week!
