i think it's shoehorned into the stories in the worst ways more often than it should while contributing nothing to it.
It doesn't exist. There's no such thing as love, I know from experience. All girls want is the rich guys and the ones with muscles, they don't want no fat ass. I'm a freak, no one cares about dating they just want some. For 2-3 years I've been rejected and that's when I found out love doesn't exist, I've been cutting myself too, due to this.
Love is subjective to each and every person (Duh, this thread exists for a reason), and when it comes to using the word, the context will always define what love is. As for my opinion on love, I'll split it into 4 ways and sum it up all into definitive meaning.
"I love my mom and dad! Without them, I wouldn't be where I am today."
"You are the love of my life, and I will never leave your side."
"OMG FNF JUST DROPPED ITS PICO UPDATE, I'M IN LOVE WITH IT!"
"Ayyyyy love ya bro! Thanks for being there for me."
Above are 4 examples of how I use love in my everyday life. While all 4 use the same word, contextually, they all have a distinct meaning of their own. So what does the word actually mean in each sentence? Let me break it down.
-Parents play the role of the guardian to you at birth, they are caretakers, nurturing you to become a full independent adult and in the future, you too will become one if you so choose. I love my parents to express my gratitude in my journey as a 17 year old. They were there when I was injured, there when I was bullied at school, there when I lost motivation for my first part-time job. They've always been there for me and I can never thank them enough.
-While I wont state if I'm in a relationship or not, we all experience that unmistakable feeling of love when we encounter someone who we think is the perfect match for us. Whether the relationship is sparked by first sight, or something that gradually grows over time it creates a profound connection within us into pursuing the person we want. I love the shared trust and understanding we have for each other that allows to us form bonds that are unbreakable.
-Rhythm games are one of my most played genre, from games ranging to OSU!Mania, Rhythm heaven, DJ Max and PJSK. All of them scratches the itch in my brain that allows me to clack on my obnoxiously loud $150 keyboard and nonetheless, funny beepbopbeepbopthatshowyoudoit FNF is one of them. I love the game because I enjoy every moment I play in the game, from the songs to the raw unmatched feeling I get when beating a stage has never been as exhilarating.
-Back in high school, I was struggling a lot financially as my mom had used up our monthly expense to repair my dad's van for work. This left me with little to no money everyday I go to school and I would be shit starving for 9 hours each day. It was my friend who noticed and asked me why I hadn't been eating during recess and when I had told him my story, for the next 2 months he would always opt to buy me food everyday, even if I try to deny the kind gesture. I love my friend for being there for me during my rough times and being there when I needed him the most.
So in conclusion, what is love? Baby don't hurt me.
Love is a profound and unique emotion to us humans. It allows us to truly cherish the things and the people we hold dear to us, whether it's the love shared with a partner, the unwavering support of family and friends, or even the joy we find in our favorite activities. To me, Love is like a glue that binds our memories together, transforming ordinary moments into something extraordinary.
Love isn't always a good thing, because there's plenty kinds of it that are bad or outright dangerous.
At least in fiction, if you're going to have romance in a work, then show it through regardless of it works out or not. Nothing is more annoying than to have an unmentioned romance sub-plot with no payoff.
Also, if you're going to have sexual moments between characters, in the immortal words of philosopist Elvis Presley, "a little less conversation please, a lot more action". (Porn does not count obviously)
Just stop worrying, and love the bomb.
LOVE, n. 1. A state of mental derangement, often (but not always) curable by marriage. 2. A convenient & believable excuse. 3. "A dog from Hell", according to the poet Charles Bukowski.

It's a funny old thing. It's been defined as a state of deep affection, yet so many people/songs out there have poised the question of what love is, or provided their own definitions.
Subjectivity?
Dont need love
besides family
but someone like a girlfriend
PFFFFF
THAT i dont need
May need to take a breather. It is a lot for all the beauty Love may bring, it still can be starved be for and be a poison. Can be messy, chaotic and a gambit. Sometimes it should be a given and it is a pity when it is not. The vulnerability can be a hard part of life and rigging it brings questions.
Said to be an ingredient on cooking or on many tasks, perhaps overdosing is the poison. Can be hard to think when receiving or to giving it. The scarcity leads to lack of thought or care which may result to consequences.
you love despite flaws, you hate because of flaws
what is the difference?

What about if someone sucks another off?
Aren't we All the same, blood?
Aren't we made of love, no, that would be oddly inconsistent.\
To be in affection state, biological just like animal, carnivorous murderer.

mad hot take: love is good actually. love is dope as fuck.
One of my favourite writers on love is Ursula K Le Guin. Particularly in Tehanu, but also this quote from Left Hand of Darkness: 'Love doesn't just sit there, like a stone, it has to be made, like bread; remade all the time, made new.'
On a more serious note, just read my forum if you want my thoughts on love.
Thinking about the words “should be” may be considered a mandate. I said before it is a pity. To someone is starving thinking that a deal is made if the task is completed which lead them to think a promise was broken. Assumptions on a guess may have made this bitterness for being vulnerable. Not everyone wins and the lost can be heavy.
Fuck. Fuck to save world

Sorry to hear you feel this way. Please don't cut yourself.
It can bring a moment's sensation of relief, but it is dangerous and, believe it not someone out there would be needlessly upset it they realise you have been cutting yourself. Love is definitely real enough- you know in the depth of your mind that your personal experiences don't prove anything about love for other people. I am a sixty year old man, with plenty of ordinary life experience, I've been where you are- I attempted suicide once too. If I had succeeded, I would have missed all the best things that ever happened in my life- and I would have shattered the world of my family, which I am now SO glad I never did.
I escaped my Depression by realising that there was nothing I could do for myself that would make me happy, so I might as well try to make others happier. I focussed on charity work and donating blood and stuff. I made myself be nice to some relatives I didn't care about too and the act of doing so somehow made me then care about them. Sulking in depression was driving people away, but being determined to present a happy face and be kind to others brought warmth back into my life and I am now NEVER suicidal.
Now I have donated blood over 130 times, I have been a charity Trustee for 19 years, I finally got published and won writing competitions and I got a good job I still enjoy doing. I have watched nieces grow up and have children of their own and the trees I planted have their blossom and their seeds.
women really are not all what you say they are. Somewhere out there there are probably some nice girls that like you and you don't even know it. Be kind and nice yourself - be the kind of nice person you would want your partner to be and one day it will happen.

As others have said here, there are different sorts of love. IMO what makes all likes into Love is a sense of addiction. Wtih romantic love, the hormones released are actually the same as aditction hormones and after a long life of experience of Love, I realise that that is what it is. If it stresses you, you may sometimes need to realise that it is forming in you and you need to step away from it, if the time is not right for you- you can control it taking you over if you try- that's not very romantic, I know, but we are not puppy dogs, we have a long life to get through and love might need to be a slightly controlled part of it.
It’s like a puzzle piece, you find a piece that matches and pairs with the other, but sometimes, they cut the bits just to fit in

Personally, I like writing love since it means I get to watch the characters grow and I can write in little hints. I like writing love in a way so that it's not the focus of the story but also it's not said that two characters like each other or not. I mostly just do that with actions and dialogue.
Like this dialogue I wrote recently
“I wish I had blonde hair like you”
“Really? Well, I think you look better with Auburn. If you were blonde, I think you’d look…strange.”
I added this detail as a hint that they find something attractive about each other and just as a cute moment

a very complicated thing that can severely impact a person negatively or positively. it is also hard to find the good side of it in many situations. it's like a double edged sword.

It’s something that troubles us and rewards us.
it can trouble our wellbeing due to our obsession with trying to find it but its reward can be amazing, finding the right partner is a great feeling.
though it also has it downsides because sometimes the feelings are not reciprocated or the person is not interested (I’ve been through that alot)
so to me it’s a double edged sword in a way, its amazing but can be hurtful.
It is one of the most unnecessary things since representation
