TRUE
Although we will say goodbye to the old design of the calendar, I am going to like these new changes that are being made

Also I'm sure I've whined about this before, maybe its even been addressed but i cant find it, but can we pretty please get the option to toggle off the audio portals track progress retention? I was trying to listen through my audio at work, but all of the songs kept starting in the middle or near the end ;-; It's a very useful feature for compilations and podcasts but most of the time it just irritates me
The plan there is that any page using the in-page player (like playlists) would start a song from the beginning if it has advanced to it as the next song in the playlist. That way songs would still pick up where you left off if you leave and come back to the song, but playlists would work the way all of us want them to work. This is one the higher priority tickets at the moment, I'd say it's in the Top 30 of ~375 tickets in the system.

If PMs become more like chats, I do wonder how migrating existing PMs would look…lumping it all in one chatlog ordered by date/time? Might not account for different topics between the two users, but could work…and then there’s the reply quote blocks, would they look good in that format?
Or just keep PMs like private BBS in terms of format?
Also…how obsolete would the plans render NG Chat?
Obviously not gonna be on the itinerary for a while as previously stated but a lot to think about!
I think to avoid a headache of a migration, we'd just keep the old PM system as an archive people can revisit but not add messages to. New users would never see it at all.
NG Chat would still have value as a general communal space for people who like a general communal space.
My one personal concern about the update is I wouldn't want to get stuck in a chat with every person who reaches out with a question. I like how the current system is like email, vs a chat where you're expected to stick around indefinitely for a back-and-forth. I don't like having to dig up old PMs to reference past conversations when someone hasn't quoted the previous exchange, though; that's one way the new system would be much easier to deal with. I would love being able to pull a handful of people into a group message.

Everyone say THANK YOU to @PsychoGoldfish @liljim @BrenthEMan and co. right this second!
Thanks Tom, and the rest of the Team.
I didn’t even know feeds existed in the first place but I’ll be using them from now on haha.

We plan to overhaul the calendar to be a chronological list instead of a monthly grid and we have some fun ideas for other improvements. I’ll let all that be a surprise, since some of the ideas probably won’t make it into the overhaul, at least not immediately.
@PsychoGoldfish is in the home stretch of the feed overhaul. Over the next few weeks he’ll be running scripts in the background to move a lot of data around, with the goal of finalizing the rollout when he gets back from the Too Many Games Meetup. These changes will essentially be invisible but will improve site performance and the long-term viability of feeds.
If you’ve never dived into feeds, NG has a lot of options there!
Followed Artist Feed - My personal favorite, all content and blog posts by people you follow.
Everything Feed - Lots of activity based on who you follow and are friends with.
Art Feed - New art by people you follow.
Audio Feed - New audio by people you follow.. Click a thumbnail to play the music in-page.
Movie Feed - New movies by people you follow. We need a Play All option here!
Games Feed - New games from people you follow.
News Feed - Blog posts by people you follow.
@liljim is deep in text editor land and numerous other back-end overhauls to clean things up behind-the-scenes. We’re looking forward to updating our text editor to Quill 2.0, which among other things should clear up some deprecated code that Chrome keeps warning us about.
I’ve said a few times already that work this year wouldn’t be glamorous and that continues to be true. Once these projects are done there are numerous bug / improvement tickets that need to be dealt with but we’re hopeful to also get some new stuff out along the way!

It doesn't work well on mobile and it's more cumbersome to get an overview of upcoming events, vs a simple chronological list. The admin tools are also kinda wonky.

I’m all for personality-filled UI and websites, but I’ve felt the layout preceding the current one was a little bit “of its time”. I think current NG is pleasing to the eye and well-traversable on PC and mobile, and I think NG can keep its personality in the ways it has been:

May not be glamorous but invisible improvements are still exciting to me at least! And ooh, the prospect of new fun stuff…
Aside from the Calendar, I think the only other page using it still is the monthly voting? And then the old layout can finally lay to rest! OFF THE SERVER WITH YOU!
There will be a few remnants, in particular old revenue pages that aren't linked to anymore. Also this page:
https://www.newgrounds.com/gameswithmedals
Which should just be redirected to this page:
https://www.newgrounds.com/games/browse?interval=all&sort=date&api=medals
Unfortunately, without a public API for medal data, that could be the end of good medal hunting tools. And if you're used to going back chronologically to games in progress it would be really cumbersome. To be fair, the tool I made before has been broken for a while and I haven't had time to update it. Since you can't filter submissions based on your progress in their medals, I made/started a couple simple scripts to display your stats on the collection page, which is harder to do on the filter page due to the on demand loading and large images.
On the bright side, I'm guessing these two pull from the same place so there wouldn't be any issues with things missing, like there were in a previous filter if I recall correctly. The only thing missing is you can't see only under judgment submissions with medals, but that's probably intended.
Thanks for the update and all your hard work!
See my news post with medal hunting links and tools. I made a program NGMedals that finds your statistics and unearned medals.
There is also a browser script.

I often seek out the hidden calendar page, so an update is welcome to me
Here's a good spot to put the calendar.

private and not to have the hassle to post many messages to everyone in the group.
I know discord is for that, but hey. Why not having this feature?
I know one guy who don't like discord in newgrounds. So, yeah.
And it will help to keep it smoother when you want to do
a project secret with many party members.
This is something we'd like to support as part of a complete redo of the PM system. Hard to put an ETA on that happening though.
Wow awesome, man I'm so used to sites removing useful features I'm blindsided by promises of new features in the far future
Once I get jumpscared by this UI remake of calendar, I'm gonna jump in and start marking my calendar on specific dates on celebrations & collabs.
Making a y2k comic/game in the future. ^^

I 100% agree with this. I much prefer a PM system to be more like an email than a chat client even from a user perspective. I don't think Newgrounds needs to be the next Discord or whatever.
