I've been going around in circles for too long. I'm going to start fresh, learning from the very beginning. But what order is suggested to learn the fundamentals? I need to make a plan to avoid repeating past mistakes. Fundamentals like perspective or anatomy and all that. How would you order it?

Kinda stealing this answer from Skoops, but it sounds like the drawabox challenge is exactly what you're looking for. Starts off with fine motor skills exercises before it moves onto the more complex stuff, but I'd recommend starting from the very first assignment, and not skipping anything. (I never actually finished this challenge myself, I'm thinking of making that my new year's resolution for 2025).

what made you disavow Bert Dodson's Keys To Drawing? you posted a page from it not too long ago

What gave you the idea I was disavowing Key's To Drawing? I would still keep it into consideration, I have a huge collection of books and it would be less stressful to try to organize things by subject matter rather than by book. Just wanted some advice, because sometimes starting over from the beginning is the best way to resume learning.

Your very own words "I'm going to start fresh, learning from the very beginning."

I'm still puzzled how my wording could give the implication I was disavowing Keys To Drawing. But I own a physical copy of the book and it was on my mind to read the book again from chapter 1. To reiterate, I was going to read my large collection of books and resources from square 1, with Keys To Drawing on my mind.

Does anyone in here have any good advice for character design? I was talking about it with one of my friends a couple days ago but I want to get some other people's tips and stuff. It's something I've wanted to try to get better at but still struggle with.
Just saw sonic movie 3 and i was grinning from ear to ear the whole movie, it was so good.

My little tip would be to look at characters that you personally like and try to replicate certain aspects of them.
And I’d suggest checking this video out. It helped me out a lot.

Thanks! I'll definitely keep it in mind for later.
Does anyone else deal with that antagonistic feeling of "not ready yet"? Even when I want to expand my horizons and get out of my comfort zone. I bail very quickly because I don't feel ready yet and need to return to the grind. It's like sticking your foot into a pool and it's too cold, so you are extremely hesitant on going forward or refuse to get in.
How have you, if you managed to find a way around it, beat it? Is this a fear of failure pretending to be something else? I don't know, I just wanted some general advice.

It's a really difficult thing to break free from, especially if your upbringing may have ingrained those kinds of thoughts and fears into you. I think it would be a good idea to try to think about and try to find the source of where these feelings and thoughts of "not being ready" may be coming from. Unfortunately I don't really have any advice to give you when it comes to breaking free of those thoughts.
