I discovered NG before YouTube was even a thing. I remember that circa early 2006 when YT was becoming more widely known, I thought that it was great. I thought: "Wow! A video uploading website where you can upload anything you want and nobody penalizes you for low quality content?! Amazing!" The first videos I tried uploading to YouTube were in .swf format and I was actually kinda surprised to find out that the Flash format was not supported. xD At that point I had already tried submitting my primitive "creations" to NG and all of them got blammed. I was barely 10 years old.
And now, guess what. Here am I again, back on NG, giving the ever enshittifying YouTube a big middle finger.
When I was playing flash games as a teen, the first thing I saw the Newgrounds logo is thanks with Mario-Combat.
Definitely looking for funny Mario flash animations and games and this site has all that and more this was like back in 2007-08?
A friend of mine in High School told me about it. So I did. I left for a few years but ultimately decided to come back to the site, i regretted leaving it. So here I am.
<------ look how long ive had this account for....
How? lets just say I heard there were CERTAIN materials on this website and I created an account simply to view those materials
I knew some people in flipnote hatena who told me about newgrounds and since then it was like a passionate love affair… it felt forbidden but oh so good… I knew if I didn’t stop it would consume me so I tried to quit, but when castle crashers started trending on xbox live it was over for me.
Around 2003, a skater who was a friend of a friend showed me this site.
My older cousin showed me "Disorderly", I thought it was one of the coolest things ever. This was one of my first times experiencing the internet, and it was still in its very early days.
Castle Crashers on the Xbox 360
i remember watching a lot of popular flash animations from back in the day (eg: Tarboy, Salad fingers, Tankmen, the ultimate showdown, etc), ironically enough i didn't watch them here but instead on youtube, with me just being aware of newgrounds existence, but never acknowledging it, until more recents times on where i began to dwell more on newgrounds and eventually making an account!
Making silly illustrations and hoping people enjoy them.
I was way more of a StickPage person growing up, but I first heard of NG through playing the demo for Castle Crashers on the Xbox 360. Though I really only occasionally went on Newgrounds to play Sonic flash games.
I vividly remember playing Toss the Turtle on another flash site (probably Armor Games) and seeing the Newgrounds logo.
I also remember watching YouTube videos of Madness: Project Nexus and decided to visit. What a magical day that was.
I just went wild discovering every piece of art, flash game, and animation.
