Doing a quick source comparison between the test link and a playlist link.
'img.ngfiles.com/playlist' will load as a card but images under picon.ngfiles do not. The 'img.ngfiles.com/playlist' on the test link has /sleeve in the file name versus a sleeve subfolder.
The robots.txt config and the location of thumb/cards may be the direction to continue troubleshooting.
This is an interesting path to explore, I've added it to our ticket on the topic.
