So, I wanted to Post "Like the Wind" By an unknown Band, which cannot copyright strike me, but someone else Copyrighted the Track, so I appealed down below complaint and After 2 Days, the Case was Closed. I still can not Post anything on my account. This is the message the bot gave me. Now technically The Track Did not Belong to me, but it also did not belong the person who copyrighted it and got monetized off of it. They Should get their artist channel Banned as well like i have gotten my newgrounds account banned. I hope this is Enough proof, if it is not, because the song is not technically mine, then that is KIND OF correct, but the song has no Official Copyright of the Band, so the Fan-Copyright is invalid. They aren't monetizing anything. The moderation program compared it to a database and found it already existed. This is an internal system and not a claim by another agent or owner.

I posted a song called We Are One made by Venexo and I got a copywrite infringement even though in the youtube video bio it says feel free to use this song. What the heck!

generally "feel free to use this song" doesn't mean "feel free to upload this song onto your own accounts even if you're not the creator of it." venexo would have to upload the song onto their own newgrounds account. if you're trying to get it into gd thrn there's guides on the audio guidelines iirc

Hi everytime I upload one of my songs I get flagged for copyright infringement on myself because my music is also on streaming services. What can I do to stop this?

The easiest method (for now) would be this: Put a link to your Newgrounds account on those streaming services. Then fill out the appeal form and include links to the places where you linked to your Newgrounds account.

That would "probably" make confirming that you are the artist in question super-easy and would leave little room for debate.

Important: Do not click the "close" button on appeal forms. The "close" button "closes" an appeal which is essentially saying: "Close/Discard this appeal, please."

Thanks for the advice but I have been making appeals to all my music and I end up getting it on the site, the goal is to not need to make an appeal with every song I upload because that makes it take 1-2 days for every song I post to end up on the website

This advice is generally helpful. As long as you have a way to prove you own the social media/artist account you're getting claimed on, you should be fine. But if it's been longer than a few days and you've received no response to your appeals, requesting a review like you did here is absolutely the right thing to do!

Hello, my cover of Silly Billy by Churgney Gurgney got flagged as Silly Billy (short lyrics ver.). I'm assuming the instrumental got flagged. Also, Silly Billy (short lyrics ver.) is also a cover.

Your first upload wasn't made by you, it was made by your brother apparently. The second one, rather than modify the same file, was the same thing.

Since neither of them are made by you, a requirement for this site, then it's valid that you can't continue to upload.

The staff really need to fix their bots because I have not even heard of the author or the song listed here.

it says right in the audio guidelines you can't upload stuff you didn't make, and being his brother doesn't grant exemption. is there any reason why your brother can't have his own account on newgrounds?

Just to double check, is my cover of Hai Yorokonde going to need some extra changes, or is it "abiding by the rules" well enough? (Not wanting to shill, but I'm seeing someone have a fuss over getting a creator in GD to use my cover here. I am still working on improving it, as the comment states.)

Here is their reason as to why they refuse to use mine, even though I'm pretty sure that 5 months ago, Tom and another mod "cleared my name" in a sense. I also became whitelisted in GD back in June for a similar reason, from what I remember.

I should've added this statement from the original artist himself saying that anyone can cover his song.

Hello there I made audio story by the name of A Jazz musicians and a Vampires Adventure part 2 where I use royalty free songs as background music and for some reason it got flagged for copyright useing a song by the name of Royal Elegance" by Knight Armour that I never used

I currently possess the need to inform you of the fact that it has indeed been four months since I have received an audio ban specifically targeted towards me because I have uploaded a remix of a song that is not included in Newgrounds. The remix I uploaded to Newgrounds was a remix of the Wii Mii Channel Theme, which is a song that is not present on Newgrounds–if you perhaps do not possess the knowledge of or anything similar to the song in question. I currently want to inform you that when I tried to upload the remix of the song to Newgrounds, I received a copyright strike reading that the audio I tried to upload was matched to a song–Wii x Wyy–that does not appear in the music list when I search it up. Yes, I am aware of the fact that I cannot upload remixes of songs, and I am genuinely sorry for not realizing this at first. This happened because of the fact that I was in a potential rush to attempt uploading audio when I first created my account out of excitement. I do not know if I would be able to thank you enough if you could unban me. I do realize that you, the reader, could potentially be unenthusiastic about actually unbanning me, but that is alright if you don’t necessarily think you should unban me.

It's been a few weeks since I asked this here in this thread but I'm wondering if a cover of a Japanese song is abiding by the rules. My friend had a fuss with a GD level creator trying to use my cover I published in the Audio Portal, seemingly making up reasons they don't want to use mine.

Shifting gears a bit, is it fine if I asked someone else to make an instrumental / backing track for me? Am I allowed to post my cover with that commissioned instrumental? I'll make sure to give them credits/links.

My brother uploaded music to YouTube, which he created himself, so what I wanted to do was create a geometry dash level with that music, and what I find is that I can't because they think I'm stealing music, WHEN MY BROTHER IT IS THE CREATOR.

I am not a mod, but the rules state that your brother must have his own account to upload his track. Even if something similar happens, he'll have enough information for a more thought-out appeal.

You can only upload things you made yourself.

You wrote in your own appeal about the music that your friend made it, not you. There was no comment in it about it being a voice thing. You can only upload things you made yourself.

Really all covers are in a legal minefield so I'm not surprised about their comment, but generally we try to leave things which are more unique. You would have to provide some evidence that the work covered is in public domain or legally granted permission to make the cover.

Co-authoring the user is the ideal, but any level of credit is better than none. If the backing instrumental isn't unique you may run into issues if it is used in other works.
