I have some graphical bugs that are happening in the impossible quiz games. I don’t know how to describe it but it happens on the impossible quiz on the skips, and the clock on question 18

in the impossible quiz 2 it happens on the skips again

It happens on the drawn Chris face on the menu, and on the skips again, and on most of the question numbers

also this only happened after flash ended

These seems to have some issue with its layers shown during the intro shots and some other bits where these big red circles that should be in the background ends up being sort of .. well wrong.

in both games:
in EF2 the filters on the circle buttons don't show up on the end screen

AS3 came along in late June 2006, so anything from 2005 would be AS2. Filters aren't supported yet, the other issues might be bitmap stuff that is yet to be supported but worth keeping an eye on... Had you just imported a stone texture bitmap, broken it apart, and cut out shapes from it? Or is that green terrain a mask that is intended to mask the stone texture to look like the terrain shapes? Could be a masking issue that's not covered yet.

I originally wanted to make a music video featuring a scrolling image map, but every other image is mirrored in whatever direction the map is facing.

Replay button doesn't work (AS3)

Same issue

An AS2 movie. Video not playing, but at least the replay button works

In fact, you should check all of @CabbageClock's AS3 flashes, as chances are, the replay button does not work.

well, I clicked the links in the OP, to avoid testing something that was already tested. for your convenience, I'll sort my findings by how well they work (I spent this afternoon testing flash games on ruffle). most of them don't seem to be saving data. I don't know if this is on my end or ruffle's (some of them seem to keep my data if I reload the page, but I lose my saves if I close the tab and open it again)

anyway, I hope this helps:

Seem to be as good as they were back in the flash days:

Bloons Tower Defense 2 (https://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/405975/format/flash?emulate=flash)

the only tower I didn't test was super monkey because I'm just bad at this game.

Bloons Tower Defense (https://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/395153/format/flash?emulate=flash)

I was out of lives before I could test the ice and bomb towers.

Caravaneer (https://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/381821/format/flash?emulate=flash)

More Bloons (https://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/374372/format/flash?emulate=flash)

Age Of Japan (https://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/391385/format/flash?emulate=flash)

never played this one before, but if the broom is supposed to clear a piece, but not the tile underneath...

Bubble Tanks (https://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/369800/format/flash?emulate=flash)

if you always had to spam click to shoot...

Bloons Player Pack 1 (https://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/386482/format/flash?emulate=flash)

Serious visual glitches, but otherwise fully functional:

Bunny Invasion (https://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/374337/format/flash?emulate=flash)

menu screen is almost completely black, but buttons light up and respond if you manage to locate them, crosshairs are barely visible. But you can buy upgrades and they work.

You can load and hit play, but there are game-breaking bugs:

Feudalism (https://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/401169/format/flash?emulate=flash)

I can't equip/buy/sell equipment (if I'm doing it right), can't recruit/arrange troops. some other features seem to be working, though (combat, quests, challenge the city, scrolls).

Mardek Rpg: Chapter 1 (https://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/382579/format/flash?emulate=flash)

the game loads, but doesn't respond to input after initial cutscene (the skip button works).

Mardek Rpg: Chapter 2 (https://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/408513/format/flash?emulate=flash)

same problem as the 1st, but the game waits untill the 2 protagonists are done talking to stop responding.

Sonny (https://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/417513/format/flash?emulate=flash)

wasn't this one tested before? I couldn't find test results so...

anyway, this one gave me a txt error log (should I have included it in the post?)

AS3 games that gave the AS3 warning (so others seeing this thread don't waste their time on them until AS3 is supported):

PALADIN: the Game (https://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/416507/format/flash?emulate=flash)

Anika's Odyssey (https://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/411623/format/flash?emulate=flash)

Bloons Tower Defense 3 (https://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/463445/format/flash?emulate=flash)

DON'T TRY THIS ONE IF YOU HAVE SEIZURES!

Ultimate Flash Sonic has a few issues. Skidding and rail grinding sounds seem to loop endlessly until the level either ends or restarts. Corkscrews appear to be broken. Ice Paradise has broken loop graphics, although collision works properly.

Carrot Juice has been set to run via Ruffle, but requires AS3.

Karoshi has some collision issues on levels 25 & 4. Level 25 Has you destroy a wooden box with an exploding box. If the exploding box isn't placed directly over the wood box, the collision for the wood box doesn't go away, although visually it's gone. Level 4 has you using your pointer as a platform, but doesn't seem to turn collision off in places the arrow has been, meaning you can get boxed in if you're not careful about where you move the your mouse. Minor bugs include a lack of blending in the NG Intro, and the music on/off button not functioning properly, adding another layer of music each time it's pressed.

Super Karoshi fares better, just a minor bug in level 59, where the white box is supposed to have selectable text, giving you the secret to beating the level. (Press Esc to lower the spikes.)

Thanks for the detailed Karoshi notes! I've disabled Ruffle on Sonic and Carrot Juice. I think there might be some updates in the works that will improve collision bugs and Mike is looking at audio stuff now, which will fix a lot of things.

The text 'Every single hour in Clocktopia, a peggey is violently abused' is cut off at 'a peggey is', so the 'violently abused' part isn't visible.

Music doesn't loop (so it only plays for like 5 seconds).

Some of the sprites don't overlap (anymore) with buildings

Response to Ruffle Testing / Flash Preservation Crew 2021-01-24 08:20:05

seems to work fine, there might be a little bit of audio clipping (but then again it could have been there in flash)

Also, some of the sounds seem to be louder than they should be.

other than that, seems to be perfect.

Medals seem very hit and miss when using Ruffle, which is annoying medal hunters.

Apparently some people are having trouble getting medals working on Ruffle. Solution here.

From the small amount of playing I did, Goin' Up seems to be working fine. No glitches with gameplay that I could tell, High scores loaded.

Ban That Fulp is working, including the submission of high scores. When playing the game in flash, there is an anti cheat message that is activated by right clicking, which doesn't make an appearance in Ruffle. The only other thing I noticed is that medals don't show their icons when earned.

Adrenaline Challenge seems like the game code might be running fine internally, but all I see during gameplay is a red screen. I do hear motorcycle sounds and managed to collect a token, but I'm playing blind.

Thanks for testing these! I enabled Ruffle on Goin' Up and Ban that Fulp, and disabled it for Adrenaline Challenge and logged that on the sheet... It probably has some bitmap filter that isn't supported yet.

Grubhub Assassin. Medals did not work until I set debug mode on the API connector to 'off'.

Also, input text does not show the correct font. This image below shows the correct font used (Conthrax)

This image shows the same screen in Ruffle

The only problem with 5 Differences is that one scene uses unsupported filters. I actually caught an unrelated bug with Ruffle itself that they fixed.

This is stuck on spinning menu screen, nothing loads up, I'll have a look into my fla file for this and see if it works but for now, it's a bit borked in Ruffle.

Response to Ruffle Testing / Flash Preservation Crew 2021-02-12 07:26:02

Interactive Buddy doesn't seem to work in either the Newgrounds Player or in Ruffle. In Ruffle you can't go into the shop to buy/use items, and in the Newgrounds Player no items seem to work.

New to this thread, and I have found a graphical error in a game (AS2 I believe)

This game to be exact, Dandy:

The game runs fine, but some of the textures (mostly on the menus and the level transitions) don't seem to display correctly. If I remember correctly, the clouds in the menu are transparent and not blocking the text; also, the planets that were in the level transitions aren't showing. The timer in the bonus stages does work though, which was something that failed to work at the last couple of years of Flash's life.

Edit:

The graphical errors are non-existent on Newgrounds Player!

I'm just some crow, I don't know how I do the things I do.

This is the Only Level II - On Ruffle, this one just remains white or flips between white and the loading screen (can't quite remember).

This is the Only Level III - Now this one does a very similar thing - but with a peculiar glitch between the loading screen at a specific percentage and a midnight blue backdrop, as well as a peculiar rattle/vibrating noise.

Achievement Unlocked 3 - This one stays on the white screen and makes a repetitive and rather annoying "splash" sound over and over.

None of them respond to clicking or arrows.

None work on the NG Player either.

Thanks. (EDIT: I'm using Chrome.

For the NG Player:

1) TOL2 weirdly works for the loading screen, then cuts off.

2) TOL3 does a similar effect, can't quite remember what it does but it is unresponsive.

3) AU3 does this too, I think. Either that or it's just white and silent.)

Adrenaline Challenge seems to have been fixed with a recent Ruffle update.

Additionally, there seems to have been a regression that caused Goin' Up to break.

I have found more flash games that works on ruffle completely fine:

However I have found some that work but they do have glitches in them:

The Background is fully dark and it's impossible to play it when it's dark (you might as well call it: Fancy Pants Dark Adventures).

Newgrounds Rumble works fine but the game glitches when you try to go back to the menu.

It won't let you combine the ruler with the gum at the beginning of the game, which means you can't continue playing, I hope this glitch will get fixed easily.

There's only one small glitch in the game, but it doesn't stop from playing, so it works fine.

It's not over yet, I'm still testing other flash games, so I'll be back soon.

Just tested 2 games that work on ruffle:

Now that I have tested 3 Henry Stickmin Games, and since breaking the bank and stealing the diamond have been emulated to ruffle, The Henry Stickmin Series can now be played again, now some of the games show a white screen when you click the play button, that means it's loading (it will take a while) so go check them out.

These two are a tough call because they both get a time out message in my tab before they finish loading, and my new computer is pretty high end. I'm worried if I switch them over, they'll get a lot of negative reviews about the white screen. Curious how much this can improve with Ruffle in the coming months.
