ahh! Another Forgotten Realms fan...Time of the Twins was a good one, as were all of the ones by Weis and Hickman...How Rast could be such a powerful sorcerer, and so damn physically weak was a bit hard to understand though....

Has anyone read the Starcraft oriented books?
Speed of Darkness was incredible. Very sad ending.

Ziiiiiing, I guess I'll join your "greatest failure". :P

I read all the time, not just because I saw a movie based on the book (the reason my brother is attempting to read The Lord of the Rings), but just because, well, reading is fun, damnit.

Yay! A fellow metal head in the club. Wellcome. I guess I'll have to change my sig if this club survives hehe. So what kind of books are you into?

Don't you just hate the way movies became to books what MTV is to good music? Reading books of someone like Zelazny or Harrison is like listening to black metal nowdays.

Well, you can count me in as well. Anyone here ever read any of the Harry Potter books? Well, they might seem a bit childish, but when you get into them, they're fantastic.

I've heard good thing about Winston, I didn't read any of his books though.

Say do you have any favorite authors? Mine are Zelazny, Asimov and Harrison.

Consider me in, as I thoroughly enjoy good literature and, like you, Asimov is one of my favorite authors..."the greatest explainer of the age." At any rate, I was very disappointed in reading about the plot of the movie "I, Robot" as it goes completely contrary to the purpose of Asimov's novel (which the movie is loosely based off of), which is to say, humans and robots can coexist peacefully, as evidenced in the last chapter where Earth is actually run by robotic supercomputers. I was wondering about your opinion on the matter.

Also, I have also read the first book of the Foundation trilogy and found it to be excellent. But, for anybody who does not want to read an entire series, but is just looking for a quick read, I would recommend "Pebble in the Sky," as it is a great adventure novel the gives a good feel for Asimov's writing.

Yep, that sucks. The same thing happened with the mvie based on "The Bicential Man". The movie was a cheesy somewhat romantic and funny drama. It sucked! The only time they mentioned the three laws in it was at the begginig and they made a joke out of it. It's just very difficult to capture the spirit of Asimov's writings in a movie.

You mean the three original books of the Foundation series. There are 7 in total. You should read the rest of them, they are awesome. "Pebble In The Sky" is a great book, the second of his I've ever read. It's really amazing how he managed to link together so many books that aren't really a part of a series and are set in totaly different times and places.

Yeah, Asimov is definitely one of the better sci-fi writers in my opinion. He certainly created the spark that led to Carl Sagan, Michael Crichton, and many other excellent science fiction writers being able to craft stories for an accepted genre.

But on a different note, I was wondering if anybody, especially Irish citizens, had read James Joyce's "A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man?" I had to read it for school and when I started it, I thought that it might be crap (like most books for school), but as the plot progressed from the author's youth to his adolescence-with the quality of writing improving to reflect the narrator's growing maturity-I found myself marvelling at Joyce's skills as a writer and enjoying the book more and more. At any rate, it was an excellent novel and I was just wondering if there was anyone else that had read it and perhaps had something else to contribute...

Yes, but the better the the writer, the better the movie, you cant get no where without a script. Im not boasting saying im brilliant, you just have to have a good imagination, grammar and common sense, which most people dont have.

Jack, storys and scripts are totally different things, they conclude of the same things and ingrediants, but you its different. Its like saying a poet writes story's and an author writes poems. You get me?

Ok then, what do you do, Scripts or stories ? I do everything when im working on a flash. Storyline Script Animation sound effects, just like every other decent artist on this site. Just because you do what ever you do, doesnt make you special mate.

Well yeah but once you have a story it's really easy to turn it into a script.

I sat at the small kitchen table in the white trailer, listening to the night wind, trying not to hear the strange scratching that came from the baby's bassinet.
In spite of the wind's incessent voice, I could still hear the faint, unnerving noises thats issued from the bassinet at the far end of the trailer. Scraping and scratching. Dry rasping. Brittle cracking. A papery whisper every now and then. The harder I strained to block out those noises, the clearer the baby's crying became.

I felt slightly dizzy. That was probably the booze doing its job. I was not much of a rinker, but in the past few heart breaking hours, i had tossed down a few shots of bourbon. Distant lightening flashed beyond the window. Thunder rumbled from the edge of the dark horizon. I turned my eyes to the baby in the bassinet, screaming there in the dark shadows at the end of the 20 foot trailer, and gradually, my fear was overtaken by anger. I was angry with conrad, my husband. The baby was hideous, she wanted to kill it, kill it and bury it, forget about it and move to her husband, her next victim, but she was scared.

I thought i was ready. Gingerly, i got up out of the scrappy bed, and walked dizzily to the sink. I turnded on the tap, listening to the water drumming against the metal sink, but that, couldnt stop the sound of hissing, scratching of the baby. No, surely that was her imagination, she couldnt possibly hear those screeches over the drumming of the water. I turned of the tap. For a moment it felt like heaven as if the world has come to a hault, the baby stopped. But it was only for a few second, and started again, digging its nails against the wood, scraping and hissing, screaming for its life.

Although the night was hot and humid, she shivered. She wasnt capable of murdering the child.
But ive got to do it, she thought. She couldnt live with ths kind of tension, her husband beating her, the baby's hideous beast-like form. Her perfect life with her religeous mother, had gone to a down fall. one thing to do, kill!

I know you are not special but you want to be. Because otherwise you wouldnt have come in here boasting how you have done scripts for 5 years, been asked to join a club et cetera. Now you comparing your script to some of the best literature in the planet is one of the boldest claims ive ever seen on NG, so shut up. This is the end of the discussion.

Does anyone read any David Gemmell? I love all his books, and with the vigilante series, it really comes out as an imaginative, vivid plot based on medevil fundamentals. I love how some people describe swordfights. I've read books where the swordfight was a feeble attempt, and didn't last long due to the writer's lack of creativity. In Gemmell's books however, the epic fight by Elodan and the kings champion, lasts three pages.

Well then let's all stop this argument and move on to other issues. The story was pretty good, I'd like to see the end of the story. However it wasn't realy a script.

Last episode Ellen was on the edge of killing the beastfull monster, can she do it? Lets find out in Ep. 2.

‘Oh, god,’ I said, my voice quavering. ‘Why me?’
The large green, inhuman eyes of the baby regarded her venomessly. If she strangled the baby, she would rot in hell. A series of cruel images flickered through her mind, flames, death, mountains upon mountains of burning bodys. She had to kill this baby, How could she be certain it wasn't real? It wasn't either man, nor woman. The creature began to stare at me, and i had an unsettling feeling, that the baby’s eyes weren't looking at me, but through me.

Its pale, speckled tongue slowly licked its dark, dark lips.
It hissed defiantly at her. Whether or not I new this thing was human, whether killing it was a sin, I knew it was evil.
She perceivedthis baby was evil, KILL IT said the voice inside her head.

The Baby hooked its hands on the bassinet, and pushed itself upright. A trickle of cold sweat worked from my head, towards my eye. What if, grown larger, it would kill someone? Wouldn’t the responsibility rest on my shoulders? Finally, summoning all of her strength, courage, and bourbon spirit, she took hold of the baby. I intended to life the loathsome creature, retrieve the satin encased pillow that was under the baby’s head, and then kill. I didn't want to leave obviouse evidence, so the death, shall appear natural, I thought.

The creature squealed, it clawed at me, making blood drip down my arm, towards my fingers, and over the babys body, now the natural death was deleted, now it looked murderous. I picked up the baby, slammed it down on the floor, with a thud. And a splatter of blood, splattered and whipped across my face.
