iu_1299891_5867179.pngiu_1299890_5867179.pngNice dinner tonight. Made oven baked chicken breasts, sweet corn, and a cabbage salad (purple cabbage, cabbage, green onions, green apples, pecans and the dressing was a concoction of honey, red wine vinaigrette and some seasonings)

BBS Signature

Some homemade lasagna with a mix of the last of the wine I used for the sauce, plus the last of the port:

First off, before anyone asks: no, I'm not Italian. I dig their culture, though...not just the food. So many of the greatest painters in history have been Italian. Am convinced there are reasons for that.

I made the sauce before grating the mozz, boiling the noodles, etc. No, I don't do sugo/ragĂș. But for over 15 years I've been making my own pasta sauce as a matter of principle. This rule may become unfeasible in a few months, however.

Made the sauce and the lasagna kinda quick, as I was under stress at the time.

Pork, panko crumbs, egg, msg, Tony's, smoked paprika, Worcestershire, and gochujang for a little kick.

May have left them on the flattop a smidge too long.

If that's what you call "lazy", I would not want to see an example of what you consider being overworked.

Late-night rice.

Would've chopped up some veggies & stir-fried it all, but I don't have any & am too lazy right now.

Ordered a food processor a couple days ago, and I should be getting it today. Very excited, can't wait to experiment with it and see what it's got

I'm happy for ya! Be sure to post pics on here once you start making stuff with it.

Back at it again with an update on the food processor. I've used it twice now, and I think I'm just gonna go on ahead and declare it one of the coolest kitchen gadgets I've got. I've made smoothies with it so far

I didn't take a picture of the first smoothie, but for that one, I had used:

  • Honey vanilla Greek yogurt
  • Some pineapple juice straight from the jar
  • Some ice to thicken it a bit
  • Pomegranates
  • Banana
  • Strawberries
  • Blueberries
  • A few clusters of granola

Then, when it was all said and done, I sifted it for a smoother texture. Very delicious

For the second smoothie, I only used banana, pomegranate a pineapple spear, and a few crumbles of granola. This time, however, I used lemon flavored La Croix as my liquid base. I had read that you can use sparkling water in smoothies, and I was just really curious. Also very delicious with a subtle fizziness to it that I thought was just delightful. I took a picture of that one

Anyway, I think I'm becoming a smoothie fiend. Experimenting has been so much fun, and I'm incorporating healthier food options while doing it. It's a win-win

A coffee experiment seemingly gone wrong...the filter ripped & I had to use something else to catch the coffee grains. It worked out but I added a smidgen too much almond mik so the coffee was very warm instead of hot. I drank it quick.

Cool. What kind of food processor is it?...I've heard the Nutribullet isn't worth the price.

It's from this brand called Syvio. The original price is 40 bucks, but I only bought it for around 12 or so cuz of a gift card. Idk what the typical size of a food processor is, since this is the first and only one I've ever personally used, but it's a size that's worked for us so far

Happy belated Valentine's Day! Hope y'all don't mind me just kinda popping back in here for a moment to drop off this crepe cake recipe I found. I got a crepe maker as a late Christmas gift, and I wanted to use it a bit more often than I do now, so the cake seemed like a good thing to use it for (which it was, btw). I didn't make the crepe mix from scratch, so I can't attest to how good or bad that aspect of the recipe is. I used pancake mix and just tossed some shit in there to experiment:

  • A couple eggs
  • Milk instead of the instructed water
  • Cinnamon
  • Vanilla extract
  • Cloves

Besides the milk and mix, I didn't measure anything. I took a risk, and it was fun. I did, however, make the frosting, and I did also use the measurements. Very easy and tasty. Not too sweet, which I appreciate

I do plan on making the cake again. Maybe sometime tomorrow. But this time, I'm gonna actually let the crepes cool before applying the frosting on it, cuz I didn't do that last time. And before anyone goes, "But JP, you're not supposed to put frosting on something while it's still hot!", just know that I'm aware...I just didn't exactly care on that particular day. It still tasted great, but man, was it funny looking! I'll let them cool off next time, and I'll even send a picture!

Frosting hasn't set yet, but here it is. Will top with strawberry slices once it's been chilled

That's chicken & beef. The photos are slightly out of date--I ate everything on the plate. Yes, it was great...tasted excellent. I used a sauce.
