Ooh sounds even better than the mint ones... you're on a roll with these recently!
Attempting to learn new drinks. Using a base liquor and creating a few of the most popular drinks. First up was gin. I made Negronis (pictured), gin & tonic and gin martinis.
On Tuesday I made roasted chicken marinated in teriyaki sauce with broccoli sauteed in sesame seed oil and rice.
Friday, it was red baron pizza with a peach and mango IPA.
Yesterday my eyes was bigger than my stomach and I ordered for dinner a beef and lamb pita with falafel and fries (this is what happens when you go nearly all day without eating).
So, what do you guys plan on cooking for Christmas and/or New Years?

How did you like them?
My preferred martini, if you care to give it a try.
1.5 oz Vodka (I'd recommend Grey Goose)
1 oz lemon vodka (Ketel one or Absolute Citron)
1 oz gin (Bombay Sapphire East)
0.5 oz Lillet (or any sweet fortified wine, just not dry vermouth please)
Stirred until the shaker is frosty, and poured into a martini glass with a large slice of lemon peel.
I took inspiration from the Vesper in Casino Royale, but IMHO, this is infinitely better, especially considering you can't control the temperature or dilution of the drink when shaken.

That looks great, and all these @Kiwi ones too, *savoring visual glimpses of culinary/drinkable greatness*...

What gin did you use? I find there's just such wild flavour differences between brands. It's not just one standard gin flavour.

I'm ordering a turkey dinner. I usually spend about $200 cooking on Christmas, but we found a catering company that will do a fully cooked meal with all the fixings for $150 so I'm happy to just take the day off.

I think I'm going to have to take a shot at making Jansson's Temptation after the new year. I don't know if I can find sprats around here, though. I might have to sub those out for some other kind of small fish.

Yeah, it's disgusting, and I've choked down a lot of nasty things in my time. Cold sweet red vermouth on the other hand is delicious. Tastes a bit like flat Coke.
Lillet is a great substitute, and also great on its own.
Also, vermouth's place in a martini.

Whenever travel restrictions lift a bit maybe? ;)
If you're ever near though the door's always open! This particular dish is actually pretty easy to cook too, could whip one up anytime.

AnchoviesĀ work just as well, if that's easier?
Would be awesome to hear how it goes if you do. It's so normal here I think we forget it actually is a pretty tasty concoction..

Aha. :) They sometimes really do have good food... reminds me of some fried mozzarella sticks I had in Latvia once. Simple thing but they were also just perfect. Maybe any food's all the more appreciable when you're traveling...

I wake up at 5am when I'm working. I can't say I'm hungry, per se, at this hour, but I force myself to eat breakfast. I'm usually hungry again by 7 or 8.

Ah man that's early. Probably a normal breakfast time for a lot of people really, I just personally get up way later.
If hunger doesn't kick in then despite the habit though maybe it's not really a natural time to eat hmm...

Definitely my favourite time to get up. Nice a quiet, plus coffee.
