Who's the psychopath? I bet they like cilantro too. Probably use it as a garnish on Tiger ice cream.

that indeed sounds tasty, but is giving me indigestion from just reading. I'll have to stick to my pleb-tiered instant pot boiled chicken titties.

The instant pot does make tasty MFing chicken titties. Especially pressure cooking them in the sauce.

I hope they’re fresh. They were like just out of the oven, cooled and glazed when I took the photo 😂

Yesterday, I made sopa de fideo for breakfast.

Later a friend of mine came to visit and made nikujaga for dinner. It was really good.

Had to look these up hmm, exotic dishes the both of them.

Though were there noodles in that sopa de fideo? Seems none surface...

Fresh out the oven and with presumably very immaculately minty fresh taste too!

Yeah, the noodles sank to the bottom of the bowl.

Wonder if the pro's stir it up right before they take a photo or just really have a lot more noodles...

Or there's some other component to this.

Attempting to learn new drinks. Using a base liquor and creating a few of the most popular drinks. First up was gin. I made Negronis (pictured), gin & tonic and gin martinis. iu_501352_5867179.png

On Tuesday I made roasted chicken marinated in teriyaki sauce with broccoli sauteed in sesame seed oil and rice.

Friday, it was red baron pizza with a peach and mango IPA.

Yesterday my eyes was bigger than my stomach and I ordered for dinner a beef and lamb pita with falafel and fries (this is what happens when you go nearly all day without eating).

So, what do you guys plan on cooking for Christmas and/or New Years?

How did you like them?

My preferred martini, if you care to give it a try.

1.5 oz Vodka (I'd recommend Grey Goose)

1 oz lemon vodka (Ketel one or Absolute Citron)

1 oz gin (Bombay Sapphire East)

0.5 oz Lillet (or any sweet fortified wine, just not dry vermouth please)

Stirred until the shaker is frosty, and poured into a martini glass with a large slice of lemon peel.

I took inspiration from the Vesper in Casino Royale, but IMHO, this is infinitely better, especially considering you can't control the temperature or dilution of the drink when shaken.

Shiiii i didn’t lmao! My first time trying gin. But everyone else did, so success! And I think it was that dry vermouth that I wasn’t a fan of haha.

What gin did you use? I find there's just such wild flavour differences between brands. It's not just one standard gin flavour.

I'm ordering a turkey dinner. I usually spend about $200 cooking on Christmas, but we found a catering company that will do a fully cooked meal with all the fixings for $150 so I'm happy to just take the day off.

I think I'm going to have to take a shot at making Jansson's Temptation after the new year. I don't know if I can find sprats around here, though. I might have to sub those out for some other kind of small fish.

Yeah, it's disgusting, and I've choked down a lot of nasty things in my time. Cold sweet red vermouth on the other hand is delicious. Tastes a bit like flat Coke.

Lillet is a great substitute, and also great on its own.

iu_502076_1809211.png

Also, vermouth's place in a martini.

Whenever travel restrictions lift a bit maybe? ;)

If you're ever near though the door's always open! This particular dish is actually pretty easy to cook too, could whip one up anytime.

Anchovies work just as well, if that's easier?

Would be awesome to hear how it goes if you do. It's so normal here I think we forget it actually is a pretty tasty concoction..
