Got a message last night saying that I cannot publish other people’s audio, yet we own all of the audio that we’ve been publishing. The thing is, if you're a record label, you are representing other artists. Simply put, the Audio Portal rules state that you cannot upload music you did not make.
DESKPOP (us) is a record label, and we’ve been publishing our content here so that Newgrounds users have more audio to use for games, animation, and simply recreational listening.
We’ve already been front-paged twice with our music, so I’m not sure where this ban is coming from since we’ve been publishing the same type of content since joining the site. Again, we legally own all the audio we’ve been publishing, and all musicians published agree beforehand to have their music hosted here (not all of them want to make an account and publish themselves).
There is nothing in the stated audio rules that would prevent us from doing this, or else we wouldn’t have joined the site in the first place, and we were met with a huge & positive response when we publicly announced joining Newgrounds.
"Do not upload audio that you did not create and have full rights to."
I'm sorry, but that's how it is. Audio moderators are simply enforcing the guidelines, which can be viewed here: https://www.newgrounds.com/wiki/help-information/terms-of-use/audio-guidelines
You are missing the “we” part! This account is run by the musicians who have created that music. DESKPOP is made of multiple people. Does it state anywhere on this website that an account CANNOT be run by multiple people? This is “our” music that WE made. Audio descriptions for each track then state which member of DESKPOP created that track, and are written in third person as to narrate each one of our stories.
