Thanks :) the new songs are a bit longer and a bit more varied. Heavier, with a less synthetic and thicker sound and a slightly rawer, more real production on the drumkit.

Best solution: integrate some actual metal, for someone like that melodic death would certainly work well (not that its a lesser genre, certainly is my favourite), and soon enough you'll have them saying "ha! Slipknot is for pussies!" Then you can laugh at him for being a fan of something he claims is beneath him. Because hypocrisies are funny.

Also, Slipknot have catchy songs. There are many bands that are Metal that I prefer Slipknot over.... Children of Bodom, Nevermore, Korpiklaani, Cannibal Corpse, Shores of Sheol, Iron Maiden...

People who like slipknot usually either like it because they haven't heard real metal, or they don't like harsh vocals. Before I started listening to metal, I liked bands like korn, slipknot, kse, and system of a down because I hadn't heard anything better. Then I started listening to CoB and started to realize that all of the bands that I liked before were shitty. After I started listening to CoB I listened to everything that I could find and realized that CoB wasn't that great.

That's pretty much the same thing I experienced, except instead of CoB(which I have come to like) I first noticed Black Sabbath. After that I was done with Slipknot, Korn, Static X, etc. It took real music to make me realize how shitty nu metal is.

well since we're on the topic of genres, i have a question thats been bugging me for awhile. its true that some metalcore falls under the metal catagory. so here's my question, if some does fall under metal, why dont they just remove it from the metalcore genre and call it something else? what do you all think about this?

Metalcore is simply a fusion of Hardcore and Metal. When the Metal influences outweigh the Hardcore it's acceptable. When the Hardcore outweighs the Metal it's not. There's not need for a whole new genre, because it's still Metalcore either way just with different influences.

Well basicaly all metalcore is condesidered METAL becuase the media is too lazy to say what kind of metal it is. Becuase I've seen screamo bands that the MEDIA says is METAL. Really you cant belive anything the media says is metal becuase well they dont know.

At least you have a metal station, the closest thing we have here is a rock station that plays emo shit and occasionally a kill switch engage song. I can't listen to radio at all. I used to have serius or XM or something like that that had a metal station, but they mostly played stuff like lamb of god and avenged sevenfold.

With the bands DevilDriver, Lamb Of God and Machine Head
I can't mentally really put them in Metalcore, But I see them more as New Wave American Metal.
Am I correct in this? Or just silly?

Haven't listened to Devil Driver but for the other 2 bands i agree, they're new wave american metal, since they don't have the hardcore element that makes most metalcore shitty, that may be just because i like them, but they don't have fag clean vocals (i'm just talking about hardcore clean vocals) and the emo feeling they give metalcore, oh and btw i'm drunk lol
