I had the Mother Earth album borrowed. I just didn't like anything on it.

I don't enjoy any kind of techno, trance or whatever, but I go to discos at night, even if they play stuff like R n B, Grunge or whatever, I also dance to it, if it has a good beat.

the problem with nu metal is(for me) that when the band first comes along they sound great(linkin park, papa roach) and the like sound great, but from then on the just get worse, the reason is nu metal is on its way out, replaced by the new wave of american heavy metal (killswitch engage, unearth) and all the bands are getting worse.

europe rules for me in music now, holland finland and germany, nuclear blast bands.

as it goes i dont like nu metal considering it far too slow and inagressive with little emotion put into it.

That does happen quite often, indeed. I think Killswitch Engage and bands like them seperate themselves a lot from the others. They are heavier, sound better and are better lyrical-wise(in most cases). I think KsE is considered something alone the lines of Death/Trash Alternative.

KsE and similar bands like Poison the Well and Hatebreed, I would consider them now as their own genre : that of Metalcore

System are unique, and personally I really like them, I think its a bit unfair to them to right them off as a Nu-metal band.

Well I like all kinds of metal, but I do prefer some Nu-Metal because of it's creativity. With most music genre's you can hear a song and hear it and know right away what genre it falls into. Nu-Metal is a little bit harder to classify, because it is so wide spread and Nu-Metal bands are very experimental with their sound.
Whom ever said that Nu-Metal doesn't have any heart put into, must not pay alot of attention to Nu-Metal lyrics.

It's just the names that sound and use similar letters, As the bands are very different and Opeth > Otep.

It's wide spread, indeed. The thing that I hate the most about nu is that there are NO solos. If there's a solo, it's not real nu. That's like a rule. The guitars are mostly tuned down to total distortion, it's like everyone would use a bass or something. The vocals are crap, in most cases. I believe there's some good nu out there, but I don't seem to find it.

There are MANY underappreciated bands... but there is no reason for people to just constantly trash Slipknot...

I'm into a wide spectrum of metals, i really like Dying fetus, Hypocrisy, SYL, Devin Townsend(anythign by him) , Opeth is great, Gwar, Mudvayne (yes i dabble in NU too), Fear Factory, In Flames , Children of Bodom, Dimmu, . The thing I don't understand is why Godsmack is labeled as Nu metal. They have solos and the vocals aren't nu either. I'm not a fan of them(I was, about a year ago, in my "old times"), but still...it confuses me.

yo! im back. i just gotta say that i recently found out about the band Death, and man are they awesome, i dont really like new death metal but the old stuff is great, same with black metal, Venom is awesome

yo ive seen all the slipknot slating and have this to say.

i used to hate them because i thought they were shit, what i didnt realise is the only reason i thought that was because they seemed so mainstream. the truth is their qanything but, the only reason they are so popular is because when they started all us metalheads had to live on was nu metal, slipknot were a needed change to the music post, i can never love them as much as many underhround bands but they are still great and without them music a few years back could have been very dull.

By the way Death though they are the creators of death metal aren't really death metal. They are progressive death metal. True death is stuff like Vader and Behemoth. Isn't this wierd?

Venom aren't black metal. They called themselves black metal but actualy black metal came after their time. If anything, Mayhem and Darkthrone are of the first black metal bands.
