holy shit what a day i had yesterday. Nothing like the smell of burning rubber and Super-high octane nitro fuel.
Got the gear, got the gas, got compression. My direction is cast to the concrete.

That is stupendously, amazingly gay.
I like Harry Potter, and JK Rowling is one of my favourite authors. But music based on Harry Potter? Eww...
Sodom & Bathory>Venom & Celtic Frost.
Why?
Even though Sodom and Bathory have done albums that their fans haven't liked much, namely their mid-90's shit, at least it wasn't commercially motivated -- they just generally had some bad ideas in the mix. I personally like Requiem, Octagon, and Destroyer of Worlds. But hey, to each his own.
However, everything Celtic Frost made from Cold Lake until now has been insincere cash grabs, to quote Tom Angelripper. The lesser Tom, Tom G. Warrior of Celtic Frost, sold out SO FUCKING MUCH when he made Cold Lake, and even more when he made Monotheist. Remember, just a few years before Monotheist was made, Tom was stating that he would have rapping in the comeback album. That's right, rapping. Fuck Tom G. Warrior and fuck his commercial sellout-ism.
Venom, on the other hand, started off as sellouts and became even bigger sellouts, and sealed the deal with Metal Black. Why? Because it's a ripoff of a shitty album. While Black Metal was a tolerable album, doing it twice wasn't, and you can tell that by then, they really didn't have their hearts in it. Fuck Venom. They were a joke, poser thrash labelled as black metal. REAL proto-black metal didn't sound like Venom, it sounded like Bathory and Sodom. FUCK VENOM AND CELTIC FROST.

Hehe, I agree with Requiem and Destroyer of Worlds. The former is excellent, primitive brutal thrash. Destroyer of Worlds has about the best guitar tone ever, and Octagon..well, it's shit :P

I like Octagon's primitive anger.

I think that Requiem has a ton of that! "BLOOD! SOIL!" *thrash* DISTINGUISH...TO KILL!

Quorthon's voice sounded more angry on Octagon. Almost every song has hella anger in every second it, and the whole thing had this garage-like fury to it. Requiem was good, too, but Quorthon sounded angrier in Octagon imo. Requiem just had better riffs.

I always imagine Quorthon thrashin' around in a cave to that stuff, screaming his lungs out while almost raping all the instrument's he's using. Especially "Suffocate" and "Distinguish to Kill" display the primitive, brutal energy that's created. Yeah, you are right about the angry vocals, but the rest turned me off on Octagon - a few Slayer rip-offs and mallcore.

I saw no mallcore in Octagon -- indeed, if you played Octagon to any mallkid, they'd say that the production was shit. Cuz the production is pretty shit. But in my opinion, even though I didn't like Octagon before I listened to it just by reading the lyrics (Eat my shit, suck my dick), Quorthon does manage to do it right. Plus, I actually LIKE the snare sound on Octagon.

Oh, there are a few nu-metal riffs in there, they like to trade their parts with a few Slayer-esque riffs. But overall, I simply didn't enjoy it, neither the songs, nor the lyrics. Destroyer of Worlds was quite a large step up, in my opinion.
