Even though I'm a big fan of folk music and folk rock, for some reason I've never really got into folk metal in a big way. I know a few good bands though...
Defiantly check out Falkenbach, Agalloch, Turisas and Elvenking. Try Falconer too for an awesome blend of power and folk. :)

You should try out Tool...they are a mix of genres but their old stuff was Hard,and the guitar sounds sweet on there.

yeah same. i think for me its cuz a lot of it doesn't sound authentically 'folky' enough, more like metal with some accoustic guitar bits. although agalloch are excellent i must admit. heh, maybe i should start my own scottish folk-metal band...
