Its the only stuff by Manowar I like.
I think their old stuff sounds really thin in texture and isn't too enjoyable. Kinda enduring... cept its not Prog so it can't get away with it.

But when you look as fucking Metal as Manowar, who gives a shit what you sound like!?

Yes, I define looking Metal as big muscles and body oil ;).

Hm... yeah, that's pretty accurate.

Though (to Nev) get their shit Kings of Metal-Gods of War... that shit doesn't have a thin sound.

I'd expect it to be Systematic Chaos or Paradise Lost, actually, but I haven't heard either album.

Heavenly
Elvenking
HammerFall
Gamma Ray
Edguy
Demons and Wizards
Dark Moor
Stratovarius
Kamelot
Rhapsody (Of Fire)

That list should do you well for a while.

Check out Running Wild, Helloween and Power Quest too.

Oh, and DragonForce.

I know DF get a lot of flak since they had videos on MTV and there's tons of mallcore kids who think they're gods, but they're still a great band with some really awesome songs. Just make sure you look beyond the singles.

Response to Metal Hell 2007-05-24 14:49:37

Awesome. Should keep me going for all long time.
I would have gotten the Dragon Force CD'S a few days ago, but for the precise reason you said I didn't. They have retarded bastards going crazy for them, also I heard they were formed form busted...

But why does that matter? They still play some good power metal. I suggest you check out their second album (Sonic Firestorm) first, it's defiantly my favourite.

also I heard they were formed form busted...

No. What on earth gave you that idea?! You might have been thinking of Fightstar, which was formed by the only member of Busted who could actually play their instrument.

Response to Metal Hell 2007-05-24 14:58:57

I just need Sonic Firestorm, then I have every DF album.

I've been thinking of posting some videos of me playing the guitar on Youtube, because I can. I played the middle acoustic section of Disciples of Babylon (by DForce) pretty well, or rather played along to it, it was just some C and G chords played along to the tune.

Haha! I was thinking of fightstar, thank god for that. Downloading the second album now, Fury of the storm is an great song. Also downloading Rhapsody of fire.

That is a fucking great list. A few additions:

Fates Warning (it's Power/Prog but it's more power)
Hibria
Luca Turilli (solo project of the guitarist in Rhapsody of Fire, pretty similar sound but some really great songs)

Then the Norse guys said, LOL HAIL HITLAR then the middle states guys said OOK SURE Y NOT? Then they're like LOL JEWS and then the Norse guys said, O RITE LOL JEWS. Then the Norse guys picked up some guitars and some drums and started playing Burzum riffs. They recorded it on an ancient tape recorder so frost-bitten and necro that it sounds like static. Then the states guys said LOL Y NOT LET US DO TAT!

There you have the birth of NSBM.

I started taking guitar lessons, well. I have been for a while, but I stopped because I don't like learning country songs...Well, the reason I'm saying this is because I need a new amp, and theres a couple of guitarists here, right? Well, what amps do you use? I'm sick of my crappy Kustom and my friend and I are trying to get a song down.

I even wrote some satanic poetry XD

Roland Cube 15/20/30/60 FX

choose the amount of watts you need, for practice, the first two should do (got a 20 myself, it rocks) and for rehearsals the 30/60, for live playing - Cube 60.

I'm short on money now and there's so much to buy, for one I need a new guitar, and I'll look into that amp.

Let's hear it.

Ok, but it's not that good...Kind of bits and pieces for a song I'm writing. I'm a haiku kind of guy myself...
Let me finish the entire song and I'll post it.

Why anyone would waste their hard earned money on a Dimmu Borgir album is beyond me.

You smoke pot. There must be a reason. I'm not attacking you though, but someone HAS to be high.

Smoking a gram of good grass earns me more satisfaction than buying an album I'll never listen to.
