After reading the past few pages, what do you expect? I know stereotypes are shitty, and everyone goes through them, and ya, some are more 'serious' than others, but so what? if people want to be ignorant, why bother with them, or associate with them if they can't even get that beyond themselves.
But I think anyone here should even expect it, as well. I mean, look at what you're listening to. Sure, it's nothing horrible to us, and we interpret it one way, or listen to our shit for x amount of reasons...But can you REALLY blame an outsider who is watching a person listen to something scream about brutal, inhumane, or torturous deaths, and them wondering if you are mentally stable, or not depressed, or anything of the sort?
Ignorance isn't ALWAYS malicious. It can be as innocent as someone asking a homosexual how they figure out when one turns gay..or how they can be attracted to cock. And some will never come to understand how someone can listen to such violence and not be upset about something to a very deepening level, since those two tend to come together.

It's just something basic you put together...where as everyone here is in a way much deeper level of why they listen to what they listen to.

LIke I said, it's shitty, but it's going to happen. So when you KNOW it's going to happen, and you KNOW what you're listening to is a shock to most of society, especially when they can only know from looking out to in and just see a bunch of kids listening to angry music and hurting themselves in a mosh pit, then you should learn to accept the mentality that they aren't worth the time of your day, and aren't worth getting riled up about.
Because eventually, stereotypes do wear you down and DO make you angry, and next thing you know, you are the stereotype. or maybe not. Who knows. But who cares? It's like all teenagers are shoplifters, and lack morale and discipline and yadda yadda. Some of it's true, some of it's not. Big woop. Does it change you in the end? No. Then fuck 'em.

When that guy shot up our school and everyone was on edge and quitting school and all that none sense, people always asked us, "are you scared what people will think of you now!?"

I honestly don't want to be called either one of these, hence why I posted. I listen to metal because its like a home away from home for me, not to get stereo-typed as a school shooter. Metal makes me feel better about myself and apparently I get treated differently for expressing myself in ways that don't involve rhyming to beats.

Also, I remember when I went through my hardcore gothic stage ( which I deny at every chance I get irl :D ) people would murmur about me when I passed by, but I myself wouldnt notice. My cousin would always tell me. But I never cared enough, which is why I never realised, and everyone at HS knew me as the nerdy honor roll student who was normally quiet and who they wanted to cheat off of.

But I remember one time, my sister, who is like 40 now, so really, half sister...Anyways, one time at camp, I was on the swing set talking to my cousin and she came over and said " jeez, if I didnt know who you were, I'd be terrified of you" I laughed it off cause my sister is a ditz anyways. But I remember me being such an impact on her through that mind frame, that there was a goth that worked at the corner store ( oh ho ho, I almost wrote the dep and realised you're all english) and would be petrified of her, and wouldnt say anything to her and bla bla bla. And after knowing me, and knowing how i dressed, and knowing that if anything, I was a kind person, she was able to look completely different at this woman working at the store and was able to talk to her and be nice to her and what not.
So my own family memeber would be one of "those" people herself, and she isnt a bad person or mean to be like that. It took her own sister to figure out that these "people" weren't that scary or weird or different in the end..

*shrugs* Sometimes a bad thing can turn into a good thing anyways. And if anything, maybe that example you asked showed assholes when to keep their mouth shut. Sometimes you have no clue until someone tells you how it changed them
