Hypocrisy played at the Nokia Theater in Times Square on the evening of November 8th. I wanted to see them so badly back then, but by the time I tried to purchase tickets, it was too late--they were sold out.

My favourites of each genre.
Heavy metal
Judas Priest - Especially SWOD and Stained class. They were the projenators of heavy metal, and will always have a special place in music's history. #1 Metal band of all time.
Extreme/Black
Anaal Nathrakh - About as extreme as metal gets. Good to listen to if you're easily bored. Waiting for the barbarians is their best track.
Thrash
Metallica (old) - They thrashed like no-one had trashed before. No subsequent thrash metal band can begin to compare to Metallica's zenith.
Progressive
Green Carnation - They produced the single most epic, enjoyable song in metal; Light of day, day of darkness. Makes other so-called epics look like AxCx's music.
Death metal
Possessed - Early death was the best. Possessed exemplifies how the once great genre should have remained.
Folk
Agalloch - The sort of music you could listen to for hours. They've pulled of a very difficult genre perfectly. Their vocals and riffs are very emotional.
Sludge/Avant-grade
Isis - Ideal music for ambient soundtraks. Post-metal owes this band big time. Carry is a particular favorite.
Experimental
Mr Bungle - They're certainly not afraid to project metal's loony side. They produce music which is entertaining and uplifting. Not many artists can say that. Watching them live a pleasure (utter shame they've split).
Post-metal
Pelican - I never thought I could sit through 10+ minute songs with no vocals without falling asleep, but this band proved me wrong.
Fusion
Opeth - Though otherwise amatur-ish; Blackwater Park was a fantastic hit, which was brilliant on all levels. Lamentably, all their other albums (bar the first two) were emotionless and rushed overall. Which is ironic, since April Ethereal and A Fair Judgment were their best individual songs.

My favorites of each genre
heavy metal
TSO, because they have really epic storytelling without rambling like most epic bands do; not epic in the traditional sense, but epic in scope and as a plus, their concerts are mind-blowing. Mercyful Fate (on the other end of the spectrum) pull blackened heavy metal, and Manowar take heavy metal to outrageous heights; and In Living Color makes funky heavy metal.
thrash metal
Megadeth, because they made thrash intelligent, Aura Noir, because of the whole black/thrash thing (as well as Sodom and Bathory), and Overkill (for primal thrash rage) own all else in the genre of Thrash metal.
Black metal
Setherial, because they make intelligent black metal (or did, before falling victim to the speed disease) without sounding pretentious (read: emperor), Aborym, because they make very industrialized black metal that sounds like pure evil; Mayhem, because they started the whole thing and DMDS is still unrivaled as THE genre classic that defines black metal; Rotting Christ, for defining greek bm; Burzum, for inventing ambient black metal; and Gorgoroth, for making classically influenced yet raw black metal that beat everybody out in terms of pure evil.
Death Metal
Demilich, for making strange, unholy, and fucked up death metal that words cannot describe; Deteriorot, for fusing doom and death to create a crushing monolith that is both epic and ponderous; Athiest, for making jazz-influxed death metal; and The Berzerker, because The Drummer is stupefying.
Doom/sludge metal
Skepticism, for inventing funeral doom metal; Nortt, for fusing the Xasthur-style of slow, depressive black metal and slow, depressive funeral doom metal; Celestiial for making deep and pagan Woodland doom; and Atavist for making, well, primal, atavistic doom/sludge.
speed/power metal
Blind Guardian, Helloween, and Sonata Arctica for making and setting the foundation for all power metal; Avantasia, for making amazing and jaw dropping power metal operas; Hammerfall, for fusing the groove of heavy metal and the melody and power of power metal; and Heavenly, for making progressive power metal that will blow your mind.
Incomplete list, but a sampler of my opinions.
Heavy metal
Black Sabbath, for inventing the whole genre. I pay my respects to the monolith that was Black Sabbath.
Black
Aborym, because they make evil, non-human black metal. They make Mayhem look like Girl Scouts.
Thrash
Dark Angel, Darkness Descends is a master- er, thrashterpiece. Everything is about breakneck speeds and riffing.
Progressive
Dream Theater, because they're from New York. I like other Prog bands but they just beat everyone out for sheer musical wanking and passionate songs.
Death metal
Atheist, they created technical death metal, and Unquestionable Presence is awesome.
Folk
Agalloch, because it's not really black metal. It's folk music with some electric guitars.
Sludge/Avant-grade
The Melvins. I need no explanation.
Post-metal
Pelican. One word: epic
Here I am, bored with everything.
My favorites of each genre
heavy metal:
Nightwish, for their over-the-top melodic sound. Iron Maiden, for being an obvious choice but still awesome.
thrash metal:
Metallica's early stuff for the riffs and basslines, and Megadeth for their instrumental prowess.
Black metal:
Silencer, because they are the fucking scariest band ever. As well as some Burzum.
Death Metal:
Cannibal Corpse (purely for the bass and lulzy lyrics), Bathtub Shitter, Napalm Death (even though they are much more grincore than death metal). Opeth are fine, too. Behold....The Arctopus also deserves mention for being the best tech death band ever (even though their lack of vocals makes tech death a questionable genre choice).
Doom/sludge metal:
Melvins and Sunn O))), as well as Fantomas (who are a bit too fast at times to be considered true sludge). Zoroaster is also majorly wintastic.
speed/power metal:
Anthrax and Slayer for the catchy licks, I don't really like much speed stuff.
I'll post all the metal bands that I like too, broken down by sub-genre:
Death Metal: Spawn of Posession, Hate Eternal, Bloodbath, Hypocrisy, Vital Remains, Deicide, Cannibal Corpse, Vomitory, Possessed, Necrophagist, Amon Amarth, Dark Tranquility, Suffocation, Deeds of Flesh, Decapitated, Fleshcrawl, and Immolation.

The names Food, WillPostForFood.
faves
heavy: Iron Maiden
thrash: Metallica, Megadeth
Death: Nile
Power: Iced Earth
Progressive: Opeth
Groove: Pantera
My favourites for all the genres I listen to:
Heavy Metal
Iron Maiden (stfu Nev), Black Sabbath and Judas Priest.
Thrash Metal:
Anthrax, Metallica (old) and Megadeth.
Power Metal:
Helloween, then Blind Guardian and then DragonForce.
Progressive Metal:
Dream Theater. They're the only Prog metal band I've enjoyed a hell lot so far, not concentrated enough on the other Prog metal bands.
Death Metal (I'll include melodic):
In Flames and Morbid Angel. Unfortunately, those are the only bands from the genre that I've really enjoyed so far. I've listened to Cannibal Corpse and Deicide, but I didn't like them.
I'll try some other death metal bands such as Death sometime soon.
my favourites:
Heavy Metal
Judas Priest - the beat out Maiden easily, at least in my opinion.
Death Metal
Deicide, Cannibal Corpse, Vader, Behemoth, Septic Flesh, Decapitated, etc. - they all fulfull my need for brutal music. I'm not that much into DM anymore, but I still like all those.
Black Metal Black Metal
Rotting Christ, Agatus, Varathron, Zemial, Necromantia, Order of the Ebon Hand, Zephyrous, Nergal, Fiendish Nymph, Naer Mataron, Mournblade, Kawir, Deviser, Astarte.... all the great Greek black metal bands. They are simply better than all the Norwegians combined.
Thrash Metal
Hypnosia and Destruction do currently fulfill my Thrash needs. Some Slayer here and there too, maybe.
Sludge Metal
Not a constant listen, but surely my favourite Sludge band: Crowbar
Speed Metal
Early Blind Guardian is my favourite Speed Metal material.
Heavy Metal:
HammerFall... though they are Power Metally, I think their slighlty more in line with Heavy Metal than Power.
Thrash Metal:
Megadeth, for the Rust In Peace style riffery and just general greatness. And Tankard, cause they're fun :). I'll say early Metallica for the Proggy attitude to Thrash. And also Meshuggah for just being teh angry.
Power Metal:
Blind Guardian, for being teh wins. And Avantasia, but also being the wins.
Progressive Metal:
Dream Theater... obviously. And Opeth :).
Death Metal:
Death. I just prefer their attitude to Death Metal. Its not all brutal lyk. Also Necrophagist, just cause I love the guitar parts :D.
Folk Metal:
Týr, I just think they're nice and epicly sing-a-longable. And they're the only Folk band I've heard without mixing shitty harsh vocals into the mix.
Black Metal:
Immortal or Satyricon, cause the others bore me. They're both alright though. Early Satyricon anyway.
Experimental:
Behold... The Arctopus... cause they're good musicians :). And I've heard no others.
Avant-Garde:
Buckethead, he owns a lot. Nuff said.

not every one, for example, the one i pulled on my sister today was hilarious.
First, i set off all of our smoke detectors, then i ran into her room, and woke her up ,sayin' : there's a fire!!!
then i said it probably wasn't safe for her to leave then room, so i walked out of the room, got some hairspray and a lighter, and sprayed it through a crack in the door and screamed.
FREAKING FUNNY!!
I can't wait for today to be over. Seriously, April Fools jokes in general just piss me the fuck off.
