Yeah, why did that guy start posting if I can already see that he is not fit to join us, unless he surprises me.

What has Meshuggah to do with Death metal? It's like you were saying that Slayer are Power Metal.
I could have sworn I heard from a number of members that they were. Which genre are they then? They're pretty hard to pinpoint exactly.
Black Metal:
Good list.

Sort of like Progressive Thrash I think...

Meshuggah is technical groove/thrash/half-thrash metal.

Yep, early KoRn, but only the self titled album. All their other albums suck, especially Untouchables which I decided to destroy the CD that I had last night. :P I guess some other nu metal I can like, but not a lot (some Disturbed, some Slipknot and some other stuff).
Eh, my opinion on nu-metal gets lower and lower every day. At this rate, I'll either hate or at least dislike all nu-metal some day.
I started to like nu metal less ever since I heard most of Korn's albums and even less when I listened to Sepultura's Roots. That album was fucking horrible.
The other day at school, this kid (who I think is cool, but has a crappy taste in music) was playing Slipknot and Disturbed, and I couldn't take it. I started yelling at him. Yeah, I'm an asshole.
How old was he?

Alright guys?
Im a bit stumped at the moment. I started to listen to Pantera alot again, and the term "Groove Metal" came up on several occasions.
I cant get my head around this genre. Can someone explain it for me?

People like to be pricks
I don't enjoy Black Sabbath or Metallica like Megadeth or Opeth.
Most of all, I don't have the need to take a test to classify me as something.
RANT RANT RANT
/Agree.
Haha, thank you guys, reading the last two pages was a blast! :)
For all those who want to know why I'm so fond of the Greek metal scene and for those who haven't heard any stuff besides Rotting Christ, check this here:
Thou Art Lord - The Era of Satan Rising
If you like Black or Death Metal, i'm sure you will enjoy this ;) please listen and tell me if you like it.
PS: and mind you, this track was first recorded in 1992! The Norwegians were just getting started back then!

Well, I think Follow the Leader is so-so (aside from the rap). I don't feel nearly strong enough about it to defend it, though. Besides, I'll probably end up hating it in time anyway.
I guess some other nu metal I can like, but not a lot (some Disturbed, some Slipknot and some other stuff).
Ugh, I hate Slipknot. Disturbed bothers me now, too. Although I think their cover of Land of Confusion was almost good.

Sons of Odin features 3 songs from that album, Gods of War. So yeah. That and King of Kings. I can't wait.

Groove metal is a subgenre of thrash metal. It features mid-paced or slow riffs, slow, simple drum patterns with double-bass drumming. The vocals are aggressive and lyrics are about aggression, violence (not gore), being pissed off, etc.
Pissing Razors, Prong, Exhorder, Meshuggah, and White Zombie are examples.
Here I am, bored with everything.
At 2/16/07 08:55 PM, Idiosyncratic wrote: Meshuggah
Contradictions Collapse is probably the only CD in the Meshuggah catalogue which could be classed as Groove Metal.
I was so going to name Pissing Razors if he didn't.
God breakups are fun.
