Yes. I have to spend, like, an hour talking to any person that I buy a necklace from so that I know it doesn't have nickel or zinc in it. Everything I buy has to be either platinum or white gold. I had to get a white gold chain for my hammer because I was reacting to almost everything else and leather looks gay. I even react to yellow gold. It sucks. It costs so much money.

Ya, I havent tried anything beyond sterling silver and gold though. I just know Gold is ok, since my mother gave me her ring, and my nose stopped getting infected when I got a sterling silver looped ring for it.
Although my skin is ubber sensitive, so even though I had silver for my eyebrow piercing, my body still rejected it out. :( a shame.

I guess it's like any allergy. It's just a sensitivity against a foreign object other than your body. The problem is usually nickel or zinc or copper. "cheap metals"
It's just like being allergic to detergent or latex when you have sensitive skin.
Or sensitive bodies, thus allergies to certain foods.
Your body just won't break down things as well as it should, do you get reactions.

That reminds me when I had to do a sculpture for class, and the scrapping things were made out of pure metal.
Eventually metal just acts like acid to my skin if I dont remove it, but I couldnt find any gloves and decided to tough it out anyways. For 3 weeks, my fingers tips lost a few layers of skin, and were super smooth, you could barely see my finger prints anymore, and made it painful to touch anything :(
I couldnt even pick up forks without being in discomfort.
It's good to see more of my kind :D

I think I might be allergic to something found in jalepenos because whole jalepenos have an effect on my tongue that lasts about a week or more. They don't have the same effect when cooked, though.
