I need some uber true/industrial metal bands of any kind. Any hints? (Esp. true like Manowar and ind like Rammstein)
I know R+ isn't real metal, but they still own.
Or...any other bands I need to know about of any genre?
At 11/27/06 11:16 PM, TehPhilippe wrote: (Esp. true like Manowar and ind like Rammstein)
Let me tell you one thing. Manowar is definitely nothing like Rammstein. Manowar are an old fallsetto heavy metal band from England. Rammstein are German homosexuals whos songs kill kittens.
If you like Manowar, check out Grim Reaper. They're extremely similar.

I would also recommend Virgin Steele and The Dictators, and also David Shankle Group.

For some reason, I'm happy I havn't heard of those bands.

Why? Virgin Steele are nowhere near as gay as Manowar. They're the next logical evolution. Plus they don't have all the falsettos. You can hear David DeFeis in the Avantasia project.

Man, I hate not owning all of Axenstars albums but I don't want to be raped in the ass by shipping and handling. 40 bucks for a cd? I think not.

Does anyone know how to make Metal music sound atmospheric?

Add soft keyboards. Or use a chorus bass pedal. Those work.

Light orchestration and a chorus pedal help, as well as melodic keyboards and well-timed overdubs.

Reverb and tremolo picking is your friend.

If I've learned anything from Burzum, it's that reverb and tremolo picking never fail.
Even though I enjoy some black metal (mostly avant-garde or blackened death) I don't really dig Burzum. There, I said it, I don't like Burzum.
flame me now.

If you do it right. Do it for atmosphere, not to cover up mistakes or technical inability

Figures. I'm not gonna flame you. I don't like his S/t, nor do I like Aske. But it's diff'rent stroke for diff'rent folks.

Hmm, tremolo picking with a thumb pick = winnage

I never use thumbpicks, I prefer to use my thumb plain, which is what I do on acoustic guitars.

I rarely use one, I find them uncofortable. I only use them on my electric, and only for tremolo picking.

Does this also work for Death metal If I wanted to make it atmospheric?

I'm not sure, it's usually only used in black metal.
