For atmospheric purposes? Not. Most death metal bands use it to achieve a choppy and staccato sound, not a smooth legato sound.

Death metal palm mutes a lot of it, and minimises reverb as much as possible, or any echo, whereas bm's is more open and violin-like and there's reverb out your arsehole. ;D

And their guitar playing is unbelievable, even more impressive than Necrophagist.
