"Alternative metal" is just another way of saying heavy rock. Every alternative metal band isn't metal, including slipknot. Same goes with Nu"metal" bands.

The "you are listening to..." thing means that it is from a promo copy of the album/single. Either it's been recorded off the radio or ripped from a promo CD given to journalists/radio stations prior to release.

With an old song like Dark Chest of Wonders though, it shouldn't be hard at all to find a copy without the message.

You live in America, so it should be a lot easier to find them in the shops than in the UK. I have seen some Blind Guardian CDs in the UK, but imports only for over £15. I decided to order Nightfall from Amazon for £8. :P I guess I should order their other albums from there soon.
