The text is a little hard to see. It kind of blends in with the background. The actual picture - though a good choice - looks a little bland, maybe a bit of work?
But thats just my opinion. Although I think the text should be altered to make it clearer to see.

I say use your logo. I like the art, though. Where'd you get it?

Well, the logo is actually almost the same I used on In Articulo Mortis. If you refer to the old one, I think it wouldn't really fit...
Sorry for the doublepost: The artwork is actually a Greek ancient figurine, located in Athens(I think):

I think it would. Or make an even more complex logo.

Is it not Medusa (sp?). Cause there are snakes coming from her head.

obsessed with greece are we? Don't worry, I'm obsessed with more northern mythology, though my artwork is local.

yeah, somewhat ;)
and I actually didn't want the text to stand out too much, I wanted it all to..kind of flow together, you know?

Yeh, but I say have some pitch black unreadable logo on top, then Monumentum in the same font. Make it very dark.

Of course, typical Black Metal...Heh, just kiddin...I think the cover should be a representation of a visual aspect of your music, like, if your music was a painting, what would it look like? I do like the art, but recommend a slightly different shade for the text. DONT bold it or make it stand out, I like your aethetic style, but it needs a small light-or-dark alteration. I do like it though, and I do find it interesting, just be sure its what you want.

Hehe, no :P it just wouldn't fit to the style. Neither to the artwork, nor to the music style. I want it to be connected to both ;) but thanks anyway

I think it would. Rotting Christ still use their old logo :) I think it would be connected to both, it would make an evil, gothic atmosphere.
Alright, thanks for the help guys, I used slightly different lighting for the logo and the title, it's not too different, but it fits into the scheme greatly without being distracting anymore :)
Fuck no !!!
Men I can't fucking find a way to classify the type of metal of Children of Bodom. Some persons are saying that its power metal, but it isnt, power metal is Sonata Arctica, Hammerfall, Edguy, Avantasia and some bands like that.
Plz guys help me

I really like the picture, but there I think there is definatly something wrong with the text.
To me, the text just seems boring and somewhat unprofessional. "Shores Of Sheol" is in exactly the same font & size as "Monumentum", which means it is not very eye-catching at all and probably won't stand out as anything interesting when surrounded by dozens of other CDs on a store shelf.
The most important thing I would say you need to do to it is get a logo! It doesn't have to be anything more than a custom font (e.g. Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Dream Theater), but it will really help your CD stand out and look far more appealing to potential customers. To be honest there seems to be very little (in my opinion) about that cover that really says: "hey, Buy me!", I would strongly suggest you use a custom font/logo for the artist name and make the Album title stand out a little.
And remember that there will be plenty of capable people on NG alone who I'm sure would be willing to help you with this (and most likely for free!) should you feel you need it. :-)

I'd say Melo-death/Power metal with harsh vocals. It really is difficult to classify bands like COB, Kalmah and Norther.
A friend burned me a CD today, Sol Niger Within by Fredrik Thordendal's Special Defects. It's the side project of one of Meshuggah's guitarists. It's like Meshuggah meets Mr. Bungle, but even more fucked up. It's a seriously weird album; I highly recommend it.

Well, the vocals sound Blackish, its a bit death and I cant see the "Power Metal" in these three bands.
I want to know something... am I the only one to find that Kalmah is fucking awesome? just like an orgasm for the ears. Their solos and melodies are just so perfect

I have long Hair.

I can't really.
How many listens any other style of music than metal?
I sometimes listen to Weird Al's stuff.
Alos, has anyone heard Hypocrisy's Virus album? I just got it today, and it sounds pretty good so far.
Just because Children of Bodom have harsh vocals does not mean they can't be power metal. Their first two releases are power metal with TONS of neo-classical influences as well as a very obvious speed metal influence. Follow The Reaper showed us a more sophisticated, less raw side, dropping the neo-classical influence almost completely and remaining just power/speed. Hate Crew Deathroll marked the "mainstream" point of Children of Bodom. In this release they lost a bit of their power metalness and gained some thrash, but were still mainly power/speed. Are You Dead Yet? lost a lot of power metal. It did, however, seem to gain some thrash and even a little bit of metalcore, compiling unoriginal riffs and bland melodies. It kept a fine margin of power metal, but was still no competition to the power metal in their previous releases.
Overall, Children of Bodom ARE power metal. Vocals don't necessarily define a band's genre, and aside from a bit on Hatebreeder, Alexi Lahio's vocals sounded nothing like black metal like some people imply. Death metal...meh...his vocals are a bit more thrashy/just plain screaming , although he DOES use some death growls, but that of course does not mean Children of Bodom are melodic death metal. The extreme use of keyboards blended with the pounding melody of Alexi's guitar riffs and solos makes this band mainly POWER METAL.

Well said. The solo on Kissing the Shadows is totally Power Metal, along with the rest of the song, and I think Heavenduff has only heard their two latest releases, which are starting to sound like *gasp* metalcore, which I hate.
One thing about power metal is that it's totally flexible. It runs the gamut from Blind Guardian to Hammerfall to Dragonforce to COB to Iced Earth. To help with your visualisation of COB as power metal, think of DragonForce, but heavier. It might not be traditional power metal, but it is just power metal with harsh vocals.
Also, Cows was right in that Alexi hasn't black metal vocals, nor death vocals. Black metal vocals are Dead. Bm vocs are Varg. Bm vocs are Attila. Bm vocs are Nocturno Culto. Bm vocs are Garm. Alexi has a definite different sound than all those, and even though they all sound different, they all are DEFINITELY different than Alexi's vocs.

I can only say, taht ya threw hard one. I've been huge COB-fan since year 2002,but I'm not even yet sure what genre it is. COB is awesome music, but I dunno is it power? Not sure,in band have keyboards, an' Laihos solos are sometimes so bloody fast. But the style just don't are same,as like DragonForce or Stratovarius. It's more rough,or angrier.
I would say,that COB is more trash/death than power. Power-metal just don't sit to my head. I may be wrong,but I don't think,that I'm 100% right. I can only say,that it's hard to say...

Roflcopter you are quotin your own messages from my posts smartfuck.
Does anyone here dig katatonia ? Its pretty good in my opinion.
Hey! My friend just played me Where Dead Angels Lie by Dissection. IT WAS GREAT!
The guitars were great, the rythm had flexibility in it, there was a solo... absolutely great!
(the only drawback was there was really no singing involved)
I never thought I'd like any black(well, mostly) metal this much. :D
I'd like to know if anyone could recommend me more stuff like this song?
Hey Goatchrist, just finished listening to your song.
It's pretty awesome. Great guitar tone, nice leads and rythym parts. The ping-pong delays on the vocals didn't quite rub me the right way, but i'm not really into the whole 'reverb on vox' thing anyway, so that's more my personal bias. Drums were a bit sparse and GM sounding, but besides that, it was pretty damn good :). Nice folky sounding interludes too ;D

uurgh, my girlfriend totally digs them
I think it's nice music, but the vocals completely ruin it for me X(
eh goatchrist you might want to add a dropshadow on the text. it will seperate it from the picture and make it stand out more. :p
The names Food, WillPostForFood.
i like the cover work GChrist but I agree with the others concerning the font, change it but just a little!
is there one in here who likes oldschool metal band D.I.O?
