I've only heard one song, Chasing Fear. It's alright, nothing special though, but I reckon I could probably get into it if I listened to more of them.

A few things...

LOG is Lamb Of God, BLS is Black Label Society, and CAPTOR OF SIN is better fit for the Numetal/metalcore crew.

Also, Fudge has a flawless list.

And the dude who can't type needs to learn how to type. It's fucking annoying.

Friday, I drummed my first fullspeed Dark Funeral song: Feed On The Mortals. I'm proud. It hurt my arms, but I'm proud. Later that day, I went up to Bodega bay with Natalie and we made out on the dunes when it stopped raining and dried up. Also, I am writing more songs for most of my bands 'cept Skogstroll. I think that band is dead, once and for all. We haven't rehearsed in months, nor have I even wrote new songs for that band. However, to fill the void, I did something decidedly UNmetal and joined a punk band as the drummer. The singer/bassist, Eleni Koutsoukis, is a total freak with neon green and pink all over herself and a total druggie. The guitarist is one of the guitarists from Skogstroll. If you can wrap your head around blackened punk, that's what it is. The production is raw and rusty, the drumming is fast and energetic, and the singing is offkey, i.e. a female Johnny Rotten. Basically, if the Sex Pistols were a black metal band with a female singer. It's kind of odd, but totally garage.

Oh, and I might be forming a speed/epic metal band called Unblatuwaiit. Here's where the name came from: The singer of the band is this really oreo black dude named chris. Hence, One black, two white. Unblatuwaiit.

I hate to burst your bubble, but Slipknot isn't metal. :-(

As for the other two...

CoB rock, although Trivium I find incredibly boring. But if you like them that's cool.

Any other bands you're into?

Yesterday I was at the Slipknot concert and it was awesome! The singer has like the best metal voice ever and the drummer + guitarist have skill beyond superb ness! So I was jumping around and participated in the pits with all the cool kids. Man, Slipknot fans sure know their metal...so hardcore =D .

When I came home and turned on MTV I saw that they nominated slipknot for hottest and best band. That is cool, because when MTV says they’re good, then they are good =) !

Slipknot = kings of metal

Dude. That's pretty hard for Metal Hell. I can't say, that they sucks, but I can't say, that they are"the fuckin' best". An' what 'bout MTV? Dude, are ya kiddin'? MTV is the most rap-hiphop-shit-we-are-homosexuals-channel in the world. In that channel comes only good thing,an' that's Headbangers Ball. An' that's not"the fuckin' best"...

Captor: Eh, I thought you were voted out....

Here's the thing, even though I know they are on the archives, Trivium does not count as metal in my book. Rammstein (for example) is heavier and more talented and we don't except that. Yet, I guess we accept Trivium? Well, I don't think we should...

Also, the Slapnut, COB and Trivial guy, unless you come up with a great list quick, you won't get in. All of those bands are supertrendy...

Guess I'm feeling a bit elitist lately, but I find myself making a marked transition to black metal of many times. The more I listen to it, the more I love it...

Ghoul: Good luck with your bands, I hope they work out.

GChrist: How about the record deal, what's going on with that?

lol, in other words: "I don't like them so they shouldn't count".

I always thought that heaviness doesn't = metal? And I'm sure that there have been true metal bands that have had less talent than say Slipknot or Korn.

I'm no metalcore fan either, but at the end of the day it's still metal enough to be considered a form of metal. Besides, surely bands like Trivium are a good starting platform to get people into better, less well known stuff? Just my opinion.

true, but lots of kids get stuck at those bands. Posers are born because they'll start yelling they're the most talented or heaviest bands out there. It's getting much too common. Me and all of my friends started out with Rammstein, but we grew further than that. Too many people don't

Response to Metal Hell 2006-03-27 18:38:53

Well, you all are not too off base. I don't like Trivium, I think they are weak (much like Atreyu), and boring, and although it is to each his own, Knol makes a point I tried to make. Too many kids never get past those simple mallcore bands, then become obsessed and start thinking that thier own personal bands > rest of the metal out there. Obviously that isnt true.

We all have our individual preferences, and that's what keeps it interesting, but too often I feel like those borderline bands get people in, then they don't contribute, which seems a waste to me.

Response to Metal Hell 2006-03-27 19:21:41

I understand what you are saying about posers/mallcore kids, but if you don't accept them then there is even less hope that they'll move on to better stuff. I mean you might as well give them a chance... If you become too eliteist then you run the risk of getting to the point where you don't accept stuff just because it's popular, regardless of how metal it is. I feel you should judge a band by their music, not their fanbase.

Damn, I just realised how that first sentece sounds... :-/

I wasn't meaning to say that mallcore/posers should be accepted, I was reffering to people who like bands such as Trivium, CoF etc. Y'know, people who listen to metal but only the most popular and trendy stuff.

lol, You have a point. Do you know my favorite band is Dark Tranquillity? They are relatively popular (and very un-kvlt) within the metal community, as I'm sure you know. I don't knock bands because they are popular, but because either they suck, or the people that listen to them suck extraordinarily (to me, Trivium would be both).
But I can't accept close-minded mallgoths who will never move on.

I started out somewhere too, and I needed the acceptance. If the need and want to grow is there, I will accept anyone unless thier music is TOTAL trash and has no hope of ever getting better (I havent met that person yet). But if that want for growth doesnt exist and the only reason to join the Hell is to be in a club, the point is entirely different. That's where the descrimination on my part comes in, because I think its pointless to let in non-contributors to the club. I am NOT saying that we have (let those kinds of people in), I just don't want to see it happen. I think the situation now is that we have brought in enough mallcore-intiated listeners to balance out the heavy black metal bias this club used to have. That is just fine. I just don't want to see someone get in and never post again. That's a waste.

I see your point, but you have to admit you can't really tell if someone will be a good contibuter or not based on their band list, as long as it has real metal in anyway. I know a guy who loves Trivium and Slipknot, yet is nothing like a goth whatsoever. Not suggesting someone like that would be a good contibuter ('cos they obviously wouldn't), just that you can't always label/judge someone by their favorite bands.

And anyway, does it really matter if someone never posts again or contibutes? I mean, it's not like it costs anyone anything to let them in. As long as they don't spam the place up with useless posts then theres no harm done in giving them a chance, if they never come back I don't really see it as a waste, since nothing is wasted.

Hell, I know I'm not going to be the best contributer to this club simply because I'm not so heavily into black/death metal as the rest of you, though I am getting into it more.
