Secondly, has anyone else heard the new In Flames album? It's like one big pile of ownage. It' so friggin' great; In my book, it beats colony, but nothing will ever live up to the jester race, though this is about as close as i'd say it's gonna get. Come Clarity is probably one of the best metal albums I own right now, and every song on it is epic.

About Rammstein, I like them. That might not say too much considering my taste in general but still, I like them. They're funny and if I spoke German I'd surely sing along...^^ This weird thing just happened last night. TV was on. There was nothing good on so I started surfing the channels(too bad Finland only has about 5 channels plus global ones) and then I hit MTV. They were showing this show "The Most Awesomely Bad Metal Songs Ever". Now, the title is bad as it is but then there were the commentators! Most people were comedian/writers and useless actors commenting on what real metal is. All they had to say was "That's not metal! Metal is carnage/satan worshipping/drugs!" And the next thing they said was "you can't say that in a song!"

Hearing this arose the big question again. What IS metal? In my opinion, metal is HONEST above all things. That means acting all "Boohoo I'm so sad because mom didn't buy me that cellphone!!1!one" is not metal, since it's overdoing. On the other hand I have hard time believing bands who propose to be all EVIL, inhuman and against everything. If that was true then wouldn't they be killing everyone outside instead of giving interviews and making record deals? My opinion of metal is music that gives the listener something to think about, be it heavy or calm(Opeth) by sound.
Singing about love can be metal (contrary to several opinions I've heard) because it's a real thing that affects people in many ways. It can give you misery, happiness, disappointments or feelings of vengeage. The thing is not overdoing it, but being honest. What are your thoughts?

A new CD came out on the sixth, called Come Clarity. It's extremely different; A lot of people have coined it as an older, more matured version of Soundtrack To Your Escape. Cept one difference: It's awesome.

However I do not think that it's as good as the ones before Reroute to Remain. I hated most of Soundtrack to Your Escape and Reroute to Remain wasn't much better either.

It's not different, it's equally horrible. Same lame melodies, same annoying vocals, same nintendo keyboards... it might sound a bit more like the older In Flames but it's just fucking shit anyway. Fucking shit I tell you. Mallcore fucking shit.

First of all, NO FUCKING WAY is Come Clarity better than Colony.

I have both - in fact, I have every In Flames album but Whoracle, Reroute 2 Recycled Crap, and Shortcut to your Empty Trashcan, and this is NOT better than Colony... Colony is probably my favorite In Flames album, and although Jester Race was very good, it was a little too mellow for me.

That aside, Come Clarity is not entirely "mallcore" shit, but half the cd IS. Track numbers (I'm not writing the names) 2, 5, 7, 10 (check out the Jonathan Davis chorus), 11, and 13 - the closer, all suck in one way or another. 1 and 6 are borderline at best. Really this cd is nothing special at all. (Scream is one of the worst songs I've heard in a long time, by the way)

That being said, it is better than the last two, but still doesn't touch thier first bits. And, I did actually buy the cd. I don't regret the purchase, because the rest of the songs are good, but certainly not "epic". If you want "epic" Gothenburg, check out Dark Tranquillity or At The Gates, two credibly good bands.

all that In Flames shit being said, I never liked the band. I have never found their music that original or good.

Also, I am now the producer for two bands: Atlee's Mom, which is a grindcore band, and World's End, a black metal band. I did session drums on one World's End song, "Fields of Past Carnage" because they didn't have a drummer yet, and a guitar solo on the song "Reminiscent of Chaos." Other than that, I'm just the producer. Both bands are good listens, and win my mark of approval.

I hear Dream Theater and Opeth are good, and I also have heard good things of Strapping Young Lad from Revolver magazine.

SYL is not good in my opinion, but I hate any metal that's metalcore or anything like it. I would suggest Burzum (he's not heavy), Ulver, DragonForce, Immortal, ManOwaR, Blind Guardian, Demons & Wizards, Eibon (Phil from Pantera, Satyr from Satyricon, Fenris from Darkthrone), Viking Crown, Borknagar, Emperor, and Mayhem. Due to your suggestions, I would suggest later Borknagar, later Emperor, Later Mayhem, later Immortal, and later (but not too late) Burzum. Namely, everything but his later stuff.

And to UnderOATH, talk about bands like Nile and Morbid Angel and Obituary, etc... here. Use your best judgment. Don't start shit. I was trying to stay out of it, that's between you and Duffeknol, and not everybody here hates In Flames. Just me. I know your not a mallcore kid, so use your judgment.

Dream Theater and Opeth are great! Especially if you have a band to play them with ;) And if you like them you might also like the bands Sonata Arctica and Entwine.
