I honestly love having hard copies of all my music. I mean, if I don't have the money at the time, then sure I will download it, but I will always go out of my way to buy hard copies of any album if I have the chance.
My biggest problem is A, not enough money, and B, not knowing where else apart from Ebay to find most of these albums. And even then when it comes to more lesser known bands, it can certainly be a struggle.
So my question here is, where do you all of you buy you CD's from? Ebay, Amazon, Speciality stores, I am quite curious tp hear.

"Specialty Stores", Relapse Records, eBay, WalMart...stores like that.
Same goes for vinyls. Except take out WalMart in that instance and put in Antique Stores and places like that.
Anyone listen to Grant Kirkhope's NWOBHM band Syar?
(he did the music for several video games including Banjo-Kazooie and Perfect Dark)
Their first and only album
Death Before Dishonor
He was also in another NWOBHM band called Maineaxe.

There are specialized music stores in Montreal, which I go to sometimes. We also have Archambault in Quebec, which is a big store with CDs, movies, tv series, video games, books, comics and board games for sell. I also buy online on eBay and Bandcamp. When it's popular and rather easy stuff to find, I go for the average HMV or any other place that might have it.

holy fuck
Been a while. Lately I've been falling back in favor with a lot of Norwegian/European folk and black metal bands I've been neglecting for a while, like Bathory, venom, salefald, sigh and the like. Maybe it has something to do with my recent departure from atheism to "paganism."(quotes cause that term is derogatory but we use it anyway)
Aside from that, they're often more original and interesting than other musical styles because they often combine A. more than one instrument B. older styles of music and put them into a more modern approach/sound. Classical and folk music, metal, sometimes punk.
Also listened to Atheist, Acid Bath, and the usual assortment of thrash, crossover thrash, proto-metal, and classic rock.

Solefald has been consistently perfect since their second album (Linear Scaffold is good, but not as good as the rest). They're still one of my favorite bands ever.
Anyone else hear about a thing going on where a Satanic Temple wants a statue of Baphomet at the Oklahoma State Capitol building?
(instead of linking the article this came from I'll just put it all here)
Vital Remains vocalist Brian Werner is a high priest in the Satanic Temple, so naturally he feels as though it's his obligation to propose to have a 7-foot tall statue of Baphomet built before the Oklahoma Statehouse.
Werner wants this statue to be an "'homage' to Satan, [with] the purpose of the monument [being] to complement and contrast the Ten Commandments monument that already resides on the North side of the building," according to his IndieGoGo. While Werner was looking for $20,000 for the thing to be built, he's already up to almost $27,000 with three days still left on the campaign.
"The existing Ten Commandments monument, donated to the Capitol Preservation Commission in 2009 by Mike Ritze, a representative of the Oklahoma State Legislature and ordained Southern Baptist Deacon, has raised the ire of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) who filed suit in August of 2013, noting that, 'the monument stands alone, with no other monuments or memorials in the immediate vicinity.' Also of concern to the ACLU is the 'self-evidently exclusive' religious message 'that supports and endorses the faiths and creeds of some churches and sects.' We believe that in being allowed to place our monument within the proximity of the Ten Commandments monument, we can appease the ACLU’s concerns."
"By accepting our offer, the good people of Oklahoma City will have the opportunity to show that they espouse the basic freedoms spelled out in the Constitution. We imagine that the ACLU will also embrace such a response. Allowing us to donate a monument would show that the Oklahoma City Council does not discriminate, and both the religious and non-religious should be happy with such an outcome. Our mission is to bring people together by finding common sentiments that create solutions that everyone can appreciate and enjoy."
“We wanted something that wasn’t blatantly offensive, something that was family-friendly, something inviting. We also wanted something interactive. It had to have historical significance. There are two snakes where the back meets the seat of the chair; you can see that symbol at any hospital in the world. This statue speaks to plurality, to freedom of speech, to multiculturalism. These are the core fundamentals of our belief system.
We didn’t want to just put up a massive upside-down cross with a middle finger. We were trying to come up with something more cohesive. We get comments all the time that ‘I don’t believe what you believe.’ And that’s the exact point. A lot of people don’t believe what we believe. We want to put it up to show the duality of our nation. Not everyone in this country is a Christian. There are Buddhists, Muslims, atheists…”
So you don't have to Google it. This is what the proposed statue will look like if it is made.

you guys should listen to Winterfylleth as well, they're from Manchester, England and are ambient-leaning black metal about English heritage
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xsox_ZVWWjE
I reckon they might be one of the biggest UK black metal bands, after CoF if they count
also other good UK bm bands include Fen and (sort of bm) Anaal Naarthrakh

I think Bal-Sagoth, Meads of Asphodel and Akercocke are among the biggest, though Akercocke is more death metal. And there's also Venom, if you count them, but I'd argue they're basically thrash.

Mick Kenney from Anaal Nathrakh had a darkwave project called Professor Fate that had one album called the Inferno, which is just a fantastic album. Kristoffer Rygg was a guest vocalist for the song Limbo. It's excellent.
Push the button, Max!

Neurosis

Acid King

I've meant to listen to these for a while. I'll start with Kylesa, and I'll try to find some Neurosis and Acid King for sure.

I remember reading about this project and specific album before and always wanted to give it a try.
Electric Wizard - Master of Alchemy: a) House of Whipcord b) The Black Drug

Ah. Well like 95% of Church Of Misery's songs are based on serial killers. And a bunch of em have audio clips about whatever serial killer they're about. I'd suggest listening to Second Coming or Master Of Brutality first.
For Cirith Ungol from their second album King Of The Dead to their fourth (final) album Paradise Lost they play Prog. Rock influenced Doom Metal. Though their first album Frost And Fire is pretty much straightforward Heavy Metal. They were together from 1972 til 1992 but only released 4 albums within a span of 20 years.
I'll be getting one of their albums soon.
Which one?

Well they released an except from a song that'll be on there.

You can also still pre-order the album off of bandcamp here on either red vinyl, cd, or a digital copy of the album.

Yeah, I kinda went for both doom and sludge. Wyllt by Black Math Horseman is a really good atmospheric type of doom metal album. I listen to the song Tyrant over and over. I ended up putting that song on my phone. And Voices of Omens by Rwake is an awesomely menacing sludge/doom album. And Wiht's Harrowing of the North is a short stoner doom album with a bit of a post rock influence.

As for Kylesa, I've only heard Static Tensions and Time Will Fuse Its Worth. Out of the two, I prefer Static Tensions. Sick album.

Really good '70s prog rock. Figured you'd like them if you like Gentle Giant. I especially like Angel's Egg.

I'll give it a listen, and will also most likely get the album. The cover is fantastic, and I doubt anything these guys do could ever be bad.

I do have the album Power Hor in digital version, but never listened to it much. I also only have Eve by Ufomammut and I don't think I liked it much the first few times I listened to it. I'll have to give Power Hor more plays though.

Out of the 4 I'd say Paradise Lost is probably the hardest to find. So if you can't get it then try to get King Of The Dead or One Foot In Hell.
Horseback Battle Hammer
Ah okay. If you haven't yet I suggest checking out Monnos. Pretty good album.

What I've heard so far is pretty good. Though I feel they cut off just before the song gets good for the excerpt.
I'm also planning on getting it too. But I'm probably gonna wait on it. I have a copy of Call Of The Mastodon pre-ordered from Relapse Records. And was also thinking about ordering a copy of a reissue of Catharsis by YOB off of there too. But I also need to save money for other stuff that is coming up soon. So if I do get that YOB album I'll probably wait on it too.
Just pre-ordered the Sunn O)) & Ulver album Terrestrials, I honestly can't wait to give it a listen. I don't want to stream it, so I can fully enjoy the CD.

When did goat-people(satyrs) and pagan symbols be misconstrued as Satanist? It almost makes me want to go out there and punch them all for doing that. Bad enough we got Christians chastising our shit, but now there are actual Devil worshippers out there(which i find hilarious enough) that actually play into the negative images christians paint, and are even proud of them. "I'm badass cause people fear me." Load of hogwash.
So, I guess my problem isn't with the statue, but the dude himself, and why he wants that statue there. It isn't freedom of religion, it's provoking a response. It's there to shock and disturb people and serves no actual purpose being there.
Still a good musician, though for the most part.
